So like you, I have an amazing cover (whether it be the smart cover, or smart keyboard; personally, I have the keyboard cover) and I wanted somewhere to to always have my very expensive pen handy. I often find myself in a rush and forget things, and I was not about to lose this bad boy! In came this fella as an Amazon best seller and great reviews. I looked at photos, read reviews, and decided this would be a great choice, and now I regret it!The Pro's-Perfectly fits around my case cover in between the case and my keyboard.-Pen fits snugly with just enough revealed to remove from holster with ease.-(Almost) the same color as the keyboard case-Slot for chargin adapter,-Does not interfere with the smart cover in the two stands shown.The Cons.- As of right now, I only have one negative, but its a big one and thus results in 3 stars. Something so obvious, but because I didn't even think about it, and no other review mentioned it, I overlooked it. Since the holster is right on top of cover, you can't flip the cover around and have it flush with the back of the case! This is a huge loss for me because I cant have the case magnetized to the back while walking around or not using the cover as a stand. I also lay my ipad flat on the case when not in use to prevent scratches on the camera. I know it's not the Pencil Holder companies fault, but as a result, when I want to use my ipad without it being in a stand, I either have to take the holster off, or take the cover off. I don't like the feeling of leaving either anywhere. So now I'm feeling left out. Hope this review provided some food for thought.

So, this product and all the others like it that strap around your iPads cover look good, but once you strap it around your Smart Cover you will quickly realize you have a major problem. The cover won’t fold back and lay flat on your iPad cause this thing is not a huge obstruction that gets in the way. It make the iPad hard to hold securely, you can’t lay it flat on any surface cause it rocking all over the place, it’s just a bad combination. I don’t have a problem with the construction or quality of the product, just the general concept— it not functional.I quickly ditched this concept and went with a simple adhesive pen loop. They are cheap, hold the pencil in place fairly well, and don’t interfere with my cover. I think the pen loop along with maybe a Silicon pencil cover would be a perfect combination. I'm somewhat surprised by the negative reviews of this handy strap. I slip it off completely when using the iPad, because the strap is big enough that I'm not going to lose it, nor am I going to forget to put it back on. In a way, though, I use "double protection," because I also have those little plastic holders for both the cap and the extender that tether them to the pencil (in the case of the round cap) and the extender (which I tether to the strap/holder itself (because it's a snugger fit).Some may feel that this is overkill, but when I was in the Apple store, an employee I know told me about people whose pencils had suffered permanent (and "fatal") damage because the pencil's lightening charger, while exposed, suffered damage. They actually wound up buying a second pencil, essentially just because there is no way to purchase either a separate cap (c'mon Apple--this is absolutely necessary!) or an extender (not absolutely essential, but a nice convenience).Both tethers (for the cap and the extender) can remain on the pencil while it is in the case on the black strap. Nice snug fit, but not too tight. I, too, do not trust the little holder at the bottom of the strap for the extender. I prefer to use the tether that attaches to the pencil--nice, snug fit, also.

I've seen some really cool cases from STM that have pencil holders, but I had already shelled out a decent amount of money for a Logitech iPad Pro case that I've been very happy with. This Apple Pencil holder has been an excellent solution for carrying my Apple Pencil with me on the go. I take my iPad Pro to Drink and Draw events throughout the city, and it's great to have the pencil so accessible. The holder itself is well made, and fits the Logitech case I have very well. It's not too snug, and there's no additional slack. I have the 12.9 iPad Pro, so I can only speak to that size. The pencil is very secure, and I've never been worried it would fall out or anything like that. I would not hesitate to purchase this if your current case needs a pencil holder.

Update: Been a few days and the smell has gone away. Gave another star.The chemical smell is very strong. I am hoping that in a few days time the smell will go away.The Apple pencil and lightening connector fits well in the case. The fold over tab is very nice and helps secure the Pencil into the case.The elastic is a little loose going around the 9.7 pro, even with a case on it. I think it would fit the larger pro better.Overall it is great and I would have given an extra star if it did not smell so bad.

This is an excellent product! My only worry when buying was that I sometimes use the keyboard case in a non-standard “drafting table” configuration to get a better angle for drawing, and that the case would get in the way — not so! There's a placement that works in the two standard configurations as well as this one. Photos attached. (Yes, it's an issue if you want to fold the case underneath your iPad and lay it flat on the table, but I never do that.)Also, the adapter pocket is super snug — not an issue at all. And if you’re worried about the pencil case being sandwiched between two books in your backpack — you can take it off the case completely, and just put it alongside your other pens/pencils. It works fine as a (rather stylish) standalone pencil holder, just ignore the strap.

Fits perfectly, closes well my pencil stays snuggled inside.

There really isn't much to say. If I didn't have this I would of lost the pen a long time ago. It does exactly what you think it does not much to it.

This actually works better than I thought it would and with the elastic band I can put in the iPad or over the pad carrying case.

Simple and durable case.

The little loop at the bottom is perfect for the end cap of your pencil. It keeps you from losing the part when you're charging it.
