exceeded expectations
I have a fancy gitzo tripod that cost an arm and a leg. Possibly two legs with inflation.. That said, I am now leaning on this monopod in almost all situations. It's really well built, the release mechanism is a savior, and you can see thought and care was put into all aspects of the design. In the end, I needed something portable to stabilize a monster 500 mm prime lens, and in addition to their K-40x was the ticket.I really feel this is becoming the go to premium value brand for high-quality gear at an affordable price.

The best monopod I've owned
I had the predecessor to this, along with a few other big name monopods. This is the best designed one and it's very quick and easy to use.The "pull down to release" feature is just amazing. In two seconds you can convert from monopod to tabletop tripod, or you can take off the video feet. A press of a button removes the fluid head, but it may require a slight unscrewing motion to enable the button. But it's all very clever and fast. The flip locks are my preferred monopod setup, as I'm switching heights often in sports photography. Finding a monopod that can both support me for sports photography *and* video work is a great find. Not many can do so.I'm very pleased with this and I expect it to last many years. My sirui tripod still looks brand new and I've had it for years. Just quality all around.

One of the most versatile tools for hybrid shooters.
I shoot using a mirrorless camera without in-body stabilization, which usually isn't a problem because the lenses I got with it had stabilization in the lens itself. However, after purchasing faster lenses which sacrifice stabilization for a wider aperture, I found my handheld videos had become way too shaky. I was originally considering a tripod system until I saw some reviews of other video monopods.I ended up choosing the Sirui for it's larger more stable legs and also because I own one of their anamorphic lenses, I was confident about their build quality despite it being a Chinese brand. The carbon fiber construction is great, no creaks or rattling. And despite initial apprehension regarding the base locking mechanism and it's ability to keep a camera system stable at full extension, I'm happy to report that it has no problem keep supporting and keeping my camera system steady even at full height.A few caveats: This tool should not be considered a replacement for a good tripod system. It does tend to wobble slightly if you just press the shutter release with special handling, meaning the first couple seconds of footage are unusable in video, and you still need a firm grip on the camera itself when shooting photos. Alternatively, use a remote shutter release device. Due to how the locking mechanism at the base works, the monopod is only capable of free standing on flat ground, for wildlife and landscape shooting, you'll either need a tripod or have a constant grip on your camera and use this as you would any traditional monopod. Finally while I am confident in the SIrui's ability to avoid falling over when set up properly, it still lacks the overall stability of a tripod is much easier to disturb or knock over, so you should never leave it unattended. For shooters who can keep the limitations of this monopod in mind, the P-424SR offers a great mix of stability, mobility and agility. Great for use in tight quarters and affords the user the ability to shoot angles and employ camera movements that would be impossible to achieve with a standard tripod.

Almost too too good
This thing is well build and solid, easy to work with and it does what it says. It is also build like a tank! That been said. It is a bit heavy for a carbon fiberMonopod, the legs also need to be a bit longer. I also wish they mad another part that can detach to screw in the bottom of other items. Like a quick release system.

This thing is beefy
It’s far better than expected. To be clear, I expect Sirui products to be well made but this feels like military or medical equipment. The interlocking segments detach and reattach with precise and secure connections… buttery smooth. Every metal, plastic (latch tabs only) and carbon piece is flawless. It’s heavy feeling but not dense. The feet are made of thick sheet metal. No molded/rough looking anything. Even the rubber feet are stalky. Couple of minor delights: the rubber/metal foot is threaded to reveal a spike… or be completely removed should that become an airport issue. Also the top section can be unlocked to provide a fluid-like panning of what’s on top. I paired mine with an undersized smallrig pan head to keep it light and to fit my arca-camera cage. I got the short one because my fashion work is often shot at lower angles and I want this to fit my carry on when disassembled. Even the blue color is pleasant. This thing is sick.

Wow! Excellent!
This thing far exceeded my expectations. Extremely well made and thought out. i shoot music in small clubs at times and this is just perfect. Many venues will not allow a tripod and this will supplement or replace my Manfrotto monopod. Yes, it is a bit bulkier and heavier, but just drop the feet and away you go. It gets me much higher than the Manfrotto (eye level if that) and having the feet is a huge bonus. When using my 5D3 or 80D I can actually leave it standing and walk away if needed. The hefty padded grip feels just perfect and pans are actually quite smooth. If I can get a larger platform in to the venue I will attach my Manfrotto 500AH head as it is fairly small and lightweight. For quicker run and gun I will attach my Benro B2 head. Heck, you do not even need a head as the screw just flips over and it will attach directly to your camera. The big plus is the pivoting base. Just loosen two knobs down below and it will lean left or right, back or forth to properly frame your shot. I really have to say that I am very impressed with this great tool! Happy shooting!

Forse il miglior monopiede in circolare
Ottimo e resistente.
