I cannot recommend the Vantrue N2 highly enough!
A truly excellent piece of kit that I would highly recommend anyone to buy above all dash cams when you consider the fantastic price for what you get.Firstly I shopped around for a dash cam that gave the best value for money and this Vantrue N2 dash cam certainly fit the bill for me so am absolutely delighted to have purchased. When opening the box which is extremely well packaged, I noted that the dash cam is smaller than I expected which is a great plus in order to neatly fit behind my dashboard mirror. I also noted that the suction mount was extra secure because it has a 'switch' fastening. Its a shame all dash cams do not have this feature as it will never lose its hold on the windscreen. The dual charger lead is 10ft long! Perfect to fit any size car and has a hidden USB easy click port which is perfect for charging your phone etc at the same time. Just simply plug into your 12v cigarette lighter and as soon as you start your engine the dash cam is recording immediately. You also have the option to switch off the back dash cam if you wish and film front facing footage only. Thats one of the great things about this dash cam - you get many options in the easy to follow menu.Beautifully and solidly made with a classy octagonal design, the Vantrue N2 is a must buy dash cam for an incredible price when you consider that it not only has a 170 degree and 180p front facing camera which gives you greater and comprehensive footage for motorways journeys etc., but also a back facing 140 degree camera too with parking mode and optional GPS, purchased separately. I have only just purchased the optional GPS mount and am awaiting its arrival so will review the GPS mount in due course. You will not find a dash cam that has this many top class features for the price. The front cam footage is crystal clear and that also goes the for the back camera. Also the sound quality of this dash cam has been tested against many dash cams on the market and comes out on top on all of the comparison reviews that I have viewed. Seriously crystal clear sound, not muffled and distorted as in other dash cams including some highly expensive ones.Unlike many manuals the one included is comprehensive and very easy to follow showing simple basic set up and other easy to follow options. Thank heavens as you don't have to download via a computer which is the norm these days. I cannot reiterate how easy this dash cam is to set up. The menu is a doddle to follow and has an expensive look and feel about it. You can not only view the front footage on the camera (full screen), but also what is going on in the rear (full screen) via A or B options. Also so easy to set up and view on your PC, Tablet or TV.One extra thing to note is that Vantrue gave exceptional customer care (before and after sales). I had a few general queries and they could not have been more helpful. This for me is also a great comfort to get a quick response that was friendly, helpful and informative.A no brainer for anybody considering buying a dash cam that is not only 'all singing and dancing' but is so easy to set up and use. For peace of mind which was my sole reason for buying in case of an accident it is just perfect.

Nice camera, with parking mode.
I bought this product as a lightning deal on Amazon. I specifically wanted a camera that had a 'parking mode'. If there is movement in front of the camera while the vehicle is parked then it will record a short video. I wanted this feature in case someone crashes into or causes damage to my car while it is parked. This is the only camera I could see with a dual camera system. The footage looking backwards into the drivers area could be useful if a car ran into your rear or side. Unfortunately with the dual camera system recording the forward facing camera footage does suffer and is not as high resolution as some of the single camera units on the market. For this reason I am only giving four stars. The unit itself is small and compact, functions are easy to use and set up. The mount is good quality and there is an extra long cable so that you can tuck it in around your windscreen and hide it as much as possible. There is a USB adapter so the 12 V socket can be used to charge phones etc. while the camera is plugged in. I have not had to recover any footage yet.

very good unit, especially for taxi drivers
Before i review this, i should state that i am being offered the gps module by the seller, if i write this review. For clarity, however, i am not required to write a "good" review for the module. Simply a review! So my view is in no way biased.Following on from that, if i wasnt happy with the N2 i would have no need for the gps unit anyway, so again this should reassure you that this review is indeed impartial. So, on to my review....Before buying the N2, i had tried 3 other dashcams. A £20 generic knock-off from a petrol station (which was truly awful, both in build quality and image quality), which i returned the next day; a "mirror" cam (i think about £70) which fit over my rear view mirror (average image quality but totally chinese menu and, after turning it on after not using it for a month or so, the image had just turned to a bunch of coloured lines), and an sjcam4000. The sjcam initially turned out ok - good build quality, good picture, good menu - but after about 3 months of use it wouldnt record anymore. So i changed it for a new one... but straight out of the box that one didnt work either :-(So.... after much research i thought i would need to spend a little more if i wanted reliability AND good image. So i plumped for the vantrue n2. The other main reason i chose this one is that i am a taxi driver and wanted the dual cam ability, which would allow me to record any abusive language that my passengers would throw at me, if need be. To me, personally, that is more important than having a second cam which records the road behind the vehicle. A 3 cam solution would be ideal, but that costs £300 (too expensive for me). So i opted for the N2. I had also noticed the very clear microphone capability of the N2 (from other review videos), and this was tested within a week of getting it, when a customer in my cab denied that i had asked her for directions, and wanted to accuse me of choosing a long route. The vantrue clearly picked up what she said (i.e. her twice confirming that i should "just carry on straight please" in the direction i was heading), and as soon as i played the footage back at home i felt relief at how clear it had done so. So the mic really helped in ensuring that all speech had been picked up and recorded clearly, which would vindicate me if she does subsequently try to make a complaint. The microphone is also good enough to pick up the sound of me indicating - which could be important in the event of a left / right turn crash / crash with a cyclist? In terms of quality.... i feel that the Vantrue N2 is not quite as sharp an image as the sjcam4000. However, it is more than acceptable, with no problems showing number plates etc. Night time footage is also very good, although every now and then some number plates cant really be read properly (usually those of cars on the outside of the image)Before i purchased the N2 i was also considering the Thinkware 550 dualcam dashcam - i opted for the N2 because it has a visible screen (also the fact that it records the passenger cabin if there was ever a dispute). For me, i feel that the visible presence of a screen is in itself a deterrent to being tailgaited etc - ive had a few instances where an irate driver has got too close behind me, and then seemed to back off. I can only put this down to them suddenly seeing the screen of my dashcam and it then clcking in their head that they are being recorded! By contrast, the Thinkware 550 doesnt have this, so it wouldnt always be obvious to other drivers that you have a dashcam. For me personally, i prefer the visual deterrent. To sum up, pros :- Good solid build quality- Excellent image- Excellent microphone to pick up speech / indications- easy to take out when not using the vehicle (just pull it out of the mount)Cons:- because there is a lens each side, i often find that my fingers end up touching one of the lenses when i take the unit off the screen mount (i.e when i am not using the vehicle), so i have to remember to wipe the screen afterwards. Its no big deal, but it can be a nuisance at times. If you do get your fingers on the screen and dont wipe it, it could cause blurriness next time you do some recording.- because there are two cams here, a 32gb card will only give you about 1 and a half hours recording, so you will probably need to buy a 64gb card. Of course, if you switch off the rear cam you will get double that time.So far i have had my cam about a month or so and, at the time of writing this, i am very happy with it, certainly the best option for a taxi driver.
