It's OK, expensive when there are cheaper products available.
Initially I said I was disappointed with this, I still am with the lack of support the website gives you. When I first plugged it in, it would not get past the registration page, just hung there. I mucked about and somehow managed to get it to move to the next stage, but that was more luck then knowledge. I think this is a very expensive switching system, especially when Sonoff offer a switching system which works with alexa for a fraction of the cost and does not need the control box. There seems to be a lot of add on's that you can use with this, but it is too expensive especially with the likes of Sonoff offering almost the same. I have not seen any geofencing which would be useful. Now I find that this is about to be replaced with Link Plus in a few days. Quite upset now!

Good hardware runs good software. This one is severely lacking the latter and is closed to innovation
LightwaveRF is quite a disappointment when you see how products from companies like Nest, SmartThings or Philips Hue work. One thing that LightwaveRF range has going to it is range of reasonably decent looking switches and dimmers. What it doesn't have is an understanding that software is as important as hardware in home automation. The iOS app is an improvement from the older versions but still is very confusing. My biggest gripe with LightwaveRF is that it's a closed system. People have tried to reverse engineer the UDP protocol but this model doesn't work with the old protocol. It allows remote access to the devices via web which is a huge plus over the local network only UDP version but the remote API is not open so you are stuck with their bad and limited software.Companies that have closed gardens (like Apple) have extremely good execution of their vision and very high quality hardware and software. Either open the API to innovation or make sure you get both hardware and software right. As it stands it's a disappointment of a good vision stuck at the last mile of the run. Shame...

Pretty much spot on
I bought this along with 3 sockets to control some lamps in the lounge and kitchen. Plugged it in, downloaded the app and fitted the sockets. Really easy to set everything up and I've got it all working with Alexa through my Echo Dot. I'll definitely be adding more devices to this. The only small niggle is the lag time. Others have mentioned this. It looks like it's improved from a few months ago but I still get a delay of up to 5 seconds before a device responds sometimes. I've got some Wemo plug in sockets as well. If I turn the whole group on or off with Alexa, the Wemo sockets react instantly. The LightwaveRF sockets then follow a couple of seconds later, and often one by one. With that sort of delay, it's not exactly a problem and the product is still worth 5 stars. But if you're the sort of person who wants emerging technology and you're not prepared to go along for the ride then you might be frustrated. All in all, I'd recommend.

Effective home control device with good tech support (not that you should need it)
Simple to set up to allow control of LightwaveRF lights and switches via a mobile app. Please note there is no Wi-Fi capability of this device, you need to have Wi-Fi already in your home. What the Link does is provide a bridge between your Wi-Fi enabled router and the Internet so your mobile phone and tablet can control your lights and switches either via your home Wi-Fi or when you're out by using the Internet. There's also a website you can log in to from a Windows PC, Mac or Linux to set up and control the lights as if you were doing it via the mobile app.Overall it's good (if a little pricey) and lets you set up simple timers, events and scenes. Personally I'd prefer more control over the logic between sensors, switches and lights and make it play nicely with other technologies, so I'm going to buy Homeseer software and a USB device called RFXtrx433E that lets me do the same but with much more control (as I'm quite a geek).

Really easy to setup and use with the Lightwave AppThe Wifi Link in conjuntion with the app provide a lot of features susch as Timers, Events etcCAUTION:You cannot update the MAC address on the LightrwaveRF Manager Website you must use the APP to do thisThe Website can only be used to update the MAC Address on the older version of the LinkThe way you update the MAC Address is by selecting New to Lightwave on the App among other things - it will then ask you for your Lightwave Link MAC address which is found on the bottom of the the LinkI made the mistake of trying to play with the App before buying the Link and because I had already created an account on the Lightwave Manager Website - it would not let me update the MAC Address on the App when I did get the WiFi Link

Unreliable - Needs to be treated as a beta product
Bought this on the recommendation of a friend because the associated light switches are of high quality. However, it just doesn't work with certain networks / routers. I'm in the IT business and it clearly has some form of compatibility issue. It will work for a few hours but then seems to lose its IP address and just flashes a red light. If you read around on the web, this is not an isolated problem. I'm using a Netgear router and other stories on BT etc.Helpdesk do what helpdesk due but they refuse to accept that the product has an issue so words not solutions.Conclusion. Product has promise but needs to be viewed as a Beta product and tested accordingly. Buy just the hub and one plug, test it well and return within the returns period if any issues. And never change your router or broadband provider without testing it all again (not easy!).

Worked fine for first day then promptly died
Worked fine for first day then promptly died, replacement working fine so far 4 months later, however another Lightwave product I bought at the same time has just died. Seems to be poorly made product, and considering the price I would expect them to at least past the one year warranty.Edit: 3 years later and replacement is going strong so looks like a one off. Have bought a lot more LW products and are all working well.
