Fluorescent Black Lights Pale in Comparison to This Thing
When I was a kid, I learned the joys of rockhounding and scorpion hunting using portable, battery-powered fluorescent black lights. They were the best tool for the job at the time, since the only other options were incandescent flashlights with Wood's glass (UV bandpass filters), which just plain don't work, since incandescent lights produce almost no UV radiation even to pass through the filter.Fast forward <mumbles> years, and I recently ordered this Lumenshooter S5 flashlight after reading reviews, watching comparison videos, and otherwise researching the best bang-for-the-buck UV torches. Some of the reviews here on Amazon for 365nm LED flashlights state that they give off too much visible light. Either the reviewers are able to see UV light better than most, or what they're seeing is fluorescence. Because, let me tell ya, this thing puts out a LOT of light, but almost none of it is visible. If you look directly at it (which I don't recommend doing, at least not without glasses that block UV light), it looks like three very dim purple LEDs. However, you'll also immediately feel the heat on your face from it, which is much more likely the interaction of the UV light with your physiology than actual radiant heat. However, since it's longer-wave UVA, it's not likely to cause any real harm in short bursts. When I point it at ceramic tiles in a pitch-dark room, the tiles themselves stay very dark, almost black, while grout between the tiles and any substances on the surface of the tiles glow very brightly. This means almost all of the light coming from the flashlight is fully in the invisible UV spectrum. Even fluorescent black lights give off more visible light than this torch. I've been able to see things fluoresce that I never have before, things I didn't even think could. This might be why some folks thing it gives off a lot of visible light. It's strange to see so many things glow so brightly when not even fluorescent black lights have made them light up like that.So far, I haven’t found any drawbacks to this device. It seems well designed and constructed, and while I can’t yet speak to its overall longevity, as long as the LEDs don’t burn out prematurely (and I’ll update this review if any of them do), I’d say it’s well worth the price.Get one, and have fun discovering just how gross your environment really is. Then, you can feel even more grateful for immune systems.

Works great
This light cost $4000!! Because it showed all the disgusting organic matter remnants all over the carpets in our recently purchased home. We replaced the carpets. The light works really well but don’t buy it if you expect to not see much, it will show everything!

Great UV light! You need one...
I use this for work in mineral exploration. This is my easy to carry UV light. I have an Ultrabright ll as well but this beast does just as good, maybe better. That's about a $1400 price difference. I lit up scorpions, and all kinds of cool minerals all summer long with this. I would leave the jobsite after midnight a few times a week because this light opens up a whole new world at night. Will definitely be a long term customer. I have 3 of their smaller UV lights as well and they all work as I need them too. I've never had the battery die on me either, but it comes with a spare so no worries there either.

Be sure you’re ready to see what it might show you.

Works Great but runs Hot
I was looking for a high powered black light to locate bacteria and other pet stains at long range to help with cleaning. This works great however it does run hot for being LED and had no fans to cool or be aware of this when using. The entire handle gets warm and the end is hot so take care when setting down. Also, it can burn skin after a few seconds of exposure and definitely be careful around mirrors and your eyes or eyes of others and dogs.If it didn't run so warm up the handle I would rate it a 5

By far the best uv light i own so far and I have a few
I have 2 other really good uv light's and tried another but this still beat them by a lil bit. Im now glad I went with it and if I have any issues I'll come back and change my review but otherwise I couldn't be happier with it's focused yet brightest beam I could find. Oh, if your comparing this to the uvbeast v3 even with 3 batteries installed, the lumenshooter still beats it

Perfect for leak detection or opal hunting
Bought this to use for a leak test on pipeline repair method testing. It worked great for that purpose, then decided to test it out on a texas opal hunting trip and it worked amazing.

Worth every dollar!
The first time I charged the Lumenshooter S5 UV Flashlight, the charger took about 5 hours to charge, but the red lights were still on after 5 hours. I went and lightly felt the battery, and it turned green. Then I touched the second battery, and that battery turned green. By "touched," I mean I lightly just laid my index finger on the battery to feel if it was hot or warm, and it turned green.I read that it could take six hours to charge the battery.Excellent product, worth every dollar!
