Absolutely beautiful light show!
The media could not be loaded. If you know someone who has a child with learning difficulties - or you have one of your own - you will know of the existence of 'Sensory rooms', which usually consist of various lights and projectors with different lighting effects which change colour and that sort of thing. My nephew is autistic and I only become aware of these 'sensory rooms' when my sister was telling me recently that she's been buying colour-changing lights and things for her house because they act as visual stimuli for him as they can help him to relax and focus on.To help her out, I decided to take a look on Amazon to see what I could find and discovered this cool-looking star projector. Rather inevitably (hence me writing this review), I decided to buy one as a surprise for her!>>>>>>WHAT'S IN THE BOX?In the smart-looking box for this gadget, you'll simply find the projector itself, its power adaptor and a set of instructions - but that's all you really need to get going. For the purposes of writing this review, I decided to try it out before taking it around to sister's house to surprise her with it.>>>>>>FIRST IMPRESSIONS?Well, it's difficult to pass judgement on a gadget before actually turning it on, but for all intents and purposes this looked to me like a good quality product, felt well made and looked really nice. Since I've never used or even seen one of these things in action before, I decided to turn my attention to the instructions and read through them before turning it on.As with many of the Chinese-made devices I've bought recently, the translation from Chinese to English language is a bit on the ropy side of things, but it's good enough to give you a general idea of how this thing operates - and from what I could tell, it was very simple indeed. The gadget itself is fairly small and features three buttons on the side of it, catchily marked 'B1', 'B2' and 'B3'. Because of the way its 'feet' are positioned, you can set it to project onto the ceiling or onto a wall. At the 'business end' of the gadget are its 'lenses' that project the stars and things. All in all, it looked like a pretty simple thing, so I set about getting ready to try it out.>>>>>>MY GOD, IT'S FULL OF STARS!I plugged the projector in, set it on the floor in front of me and flipped the power switch on, then turned the lights in my room down. After pressing the 'B1' button, the ceiling and walls in my room were completely transformed by this thing and I couldn't help but say 'Wow' at the rather beautiful effect as I watched the green-coloured stars slowly rotate around the room and gawped at the glorious blue aurora-borealis effect on my ceiling. The stars themselves are fascinating to watch as they track across the different-angled surfaces of the walls and across the curtains, and appear to travel at different rates of speed across things.Pressing the 'B1' button controls the speed that the stars travel at around the room, so they can spin slowly, a bit more quickly or remain still. The 'B2' button sets the stars to slowly flash on and off, and the 'B3' button causes the stars and the aurora to fade in and out. These additional effects are quite nice, but the standard 'B1' spinning effect is the most effective.I sat watching this for quite a long time and my partner and I both agree that it's very relaxing to watch - almost entrancing and really rather pretty. Very impressed! It's very quiet while in operation too so it's not disruptive in the slightest.>>>>>>DON'T LOOK INTO THE LIGHT!I have to admit that I didn't properly heed the warnings in the instructions for this projector about not letting it fire into my eyes and looked directly into it. At first, this didn't seem to be a problem but after a short period of time I started to feel my eyes getting a bit sore. This might not be the same with everyone, but the day afterwards I had a series of pretty bad headaches and even now, a couple of days later, my eyes are still a bit sore when looking at my computer's screen. The moral of this story is: "Don't stare into the projector!" - and I would highly recommend that you don't let children use this unattended and make sure that they don't stare into the projector. When I've used it since then, I make sure that I'm sitting well behind the projector while it's on.>>>>>>SUMMING UPI'm really impressed by this starlight projector and it's a far more powerful device than I expected it to be. I'm still yet to take it around to my sister's place, but if she thinks that it's too powerful for my nephew, I'll gladly keep this for myself!

If you can get over the fact it only projects green stars, this is the best night sky projector you can get.
I bought other night sky protectors and they were rubbish. They failed to project anything onto the walls or ceiling despite claiming they could. Even best selling 'projectors' on Amazon! As a rule of thumb I'd suggest anyone avoid usb powered or battery powered projectors and they juts don't have enough power to project anything at all. I ended up buying this despite it being more expensive than any of the other I found, but have no regrets at all. It's incredible. It's very powerful, the projections are very high quality and bright, really beautiful. I massively regret not getting this in the first place. My only real criticism is that it only projects green stars. I really had expected to be able to change or cycle through colours, at least the option of white stars, but no it's green or nothing. The 'cloud' effect is blue only which is fine, but it feels more like the aurora borealis than clouds, or perhaps the reflection of a swimming pool. Either way beautiful. But it really would've been nice to have white stars, to feel more like an actual night sky. It's just too artificial looking being green which is a real shame. Also there's a slight hum of the motor, which is very subtle when set to static sky, or slow sky, but more noticeable when on fast mode, or if you're trying to use it while you sleep (which I wouldn't do as there's no auto sleep timer). But it's really not a problem for me.

Projects really well
My 6 year old got this as a gift and is absolutely in love with it. He uses it as a night light as the light is quite bright and illuminated the walls and ceilings quite nicely. There aren’t many colour variations, mainly green and blue but the patterns come out really quite nice. The absence of an on and off switch means I have to unplug it at night but it will also automatically turn off after several hours.

Better than the rest .......BUT
This projector is hands down better than many others I have tried just as another reviewer commented.Pros:Clear bright lightsMultiple settingsExcellent coverageWorth £40 asking priceCons:The whirring motor is annoying on slow and a deal breaker on fast. Not a problem unless you want to use it in a bedroom for a calming atmospheric display. The green light is a poor choice in my opinion as it cheapens the whole effect but I guess it is fine for discos/clubs.Warning:I glanced over at my projector as I entered the room and as I did it just happened to be at the time the green laser was pointed in my direction. The result was a very sore eye which still has a dull ache even after 5 hours. For this reason I would rate it 2 stars as I don't feel it is safe to be used by children or safe to be left unattended. It states it is a class 2 laser but this generally is not true of goods shipped from China. They are usually downgraded to conform to safety standards but are actually much stronger than stated.

This creates a lovely atmosphere
The media could not be loaded. I love projectors, they really help to bring a room or front of a house alive and are very eye catching and this one is no exception. It comes with a stand or tripod for indoors or a ground spike for outside. You can even wall mount this one which I think is a great idea. There are 20 different slides to suit all manner of celebrations and events.Everything seems to be well made and sturdy. The remote control allows you to set a timer for the lights to go off or to make them speed up, slow down or flash. This is a great projector, there are lots of different slides and they are very clear. It will be used a great deal by myself and my family for various occasions as it really makes a nice atmosphere.
