Though the image shows use in an airplane, most likely it will be ineffective, unless you enclose the output air and strap that around your face. In a car with the air vents on recirculate it will slowly clean all inside air. Whatever blows directly under your nose means you will inhale, in part, that purified air. I believe that the idea of this is much cooler than its reality. ALSO: the answer that says a space 54' X 54' confused the concept of 54 square feet. If you consider a small car's width on average 5 feet, and length on average 6 feet, you're at 30 square feet, a larger car/truck would likely reach the limit of 54 square feet. And that still takes quite a bit of time to achieve, based on its rating for how fast (usually rated on the louder high speed) it can go through a certain sealed number of cubic feet. Since they don't rate for cubic feet (nor is the capacity rating given here) this is a mystery, but one would think it would be based on an 8' ceiling, while a car is maybe about 5 feet from floor to ceiling.

It lasts about 10-12 hours on low. Doesn’t affect ozone though.

It really depends on how your cup holder is designed. you know where the air flow goes in, put it in the cup holder and take a look how much is left for air intake. I put mine in somewhat in an angle so that there are gaps around so the air can flow in.
