To the rescue on some very hot days
This fan was sent as a gift to a longtime friend. I was amazed at how quickly she received it several days before the original expected delivery date. And she was delighted to find it at her front door during one of our miserable heat wave days. She was able to assemble it quickly with only two misses, and had the fan going within 2 hours of her receiving it. While she basked in the cooling air provided by the fan, she called me and told me of her delight. The fan was a real blessing since her previous slightly similar fan had died of old age, and I am delighted that she is so pleased to have a new working fan again.

Hey! It works - it blows air!
First things first....the saying 'it's untippoverable' cannot be applied to this fan in any way. This fan has about the same center of gravity as I do, which isn't saying much. You can even look at the picture and think 'Huh. That sure is a small base!' and you know what? You'd be right. That base is small. In fact, it's so small and so lightweight that if the fan head were a balloon it would float off, but instead it just crashes to the ground.Next up, the fan cage. While you certainly won't be loosing any fingers by sticking them into the grating you will lose your sanity trying to get it to fully snap together. Don't get me wrong - this fan is a breeze (ha! get it?!) to put together...except for those stupid little snappy thingies (very technical term) which don't really fit together.Outside of the clear manufacturing flaws the sound it emits is quite noisy on the highest setting which is perfect for making sure you can't hear burglars entering your home while you sleep. It would also be helpful during the zombie apocalypse to cover up all the wretched moaning if the power were still on. As for the air flow, it's pretty decent and if you point it directly at your bed your cats will be annoyed enough to steer clear and leave you with a full mattress to stretch out on.

Would buy again.
I have owned several Lasko fans and I love or love all of them. This fan when fully extended is ~50 inches. Meaning with a standard bed/box spring combo if you put this at the end or side of the bed you will be able to fully "air condition" the area. It contains three settings I usually run mine on the second. With this particular fan the high speed setting isn't particularly powerful at least not what I am used to from a Lasko fan and the head is only 16" so that does impact things. Overall does a decent job for my purpose which is to have something running at night so I don't burn up, though I think I should have just upgraded to the larger model with the remote (which is really what I wanted and am used to from Lasko products where high speed feels like a wind tunnel but I'll save that review for that fan). However, good value for the price.

Just spend the extra $20 and get a decent product. You'll just end up returning this.
What a POS. I have a bunch of fans in my apartment because I don't have AC, and this was the most underwhelming piece of junk I've seen. The fan was almost impossible to finish putting together because the front plastic cover was warped and wouldn't fit properly. I wouldn't have cared and just bent it to fit if one of the brackets hadn't been broken off! Plus there was a chip in the plastic, and overall it just fit poorly together regardless of being broken. The box was in perfect condition, which means it is unlikely to have sustained damage in shipping. Two parts of the metal stand were bent, which didn't affect the function but was clearly indicative of the overall quality of this fan. All the plastic parts (everything except the stand shaft) seemed like the absolute lowest quality you could get. When I set up the base/stand part the tightener wouldn't even properly tighten and hold the shaft in place, and the whole entire thing wobbled like it could fall apart at any moment. Like I said, I have a few other fans like this one that I paid more money for, and now I understand why they cost what they did. I'm not a diva and almost never return things if I can fix them myself, because I don't like the hassle of shipping stuff, but this obviously needed to be returned. DON'T BUY THIS FAN! This is coming from a cheapskate. Just spend the extra $20 and get a decent product. You'll just end up returning this. I gave it two stars because at least it came with all the parts and would turn on if I wanted to use it. Knocked off the three stars for broken parts, shoddy materials, and anger at having my time wasted.

Good fan for the price
Fan came unassembled. Once I got it together, I notice the oscillating switch was broken off. I called customer service and was told to send it back for a new one. I was unable to take it apart since once the plastic pieces clipped together - that was it. Initially I was told to try to find a large box to send it back (they would pay for the box). Finally, I was told they would send a new fan and dispose of the broken one - a lot more cost effective. The fan was sent only in the box you would get from a store - no additional packaging. It is a thin, flimsy box. It was amazing the replacement fan arrived undamaged. The fan puts out a nice steady stream of wind. It is not a super substantail product, but then again it was not expensive. Old adage - you get what you pay for!!

Plastic, But Effective
Based on my prior experience with Costco and the American tradition of outsourced slave labour, I thought that good fans were cheap. In all instances but this one, that has not been the case. This is an excellent fan. I, guiltily, knew nothing of how it's made, or from whence it came, but I did know that it keeps the house cool in the smoldering summer, and appears to be relatively energy efficient. And now, since writing this review and attempting to be a responsible consumer, I also have a reasonable suspicion that it is probably made in the U.S.A., like most other Lasko products. That's extra cool. Good, sturdy*, strong, quiet, energy efficient fan. Good price. American labour. Whoo hoo.*study = sturdy plastic. Can't win them all. I wish it were legit metal, or biodegradable, but when the heat rolls in, those philanthropical environmental values will inevitably cannibalize for the sake of energy conservation under the sweltering solar glare and the crunch of poverty.
