A step up from the standard Neewer light stand
I recently bought a Godox SL-60W and a Glow 38" deep parabolic softbox. I already own the standard Neewer 6' light stand, but was worried it might not hold up that large light rig. So I splurged the whole vast entire extra $7 bucks, and bought this "heavy duty" light stand. I put "heavy duty" in quotes for a reason, as you'll see in a minute. It's thicker than the standard light stand. Chunkier. Seems better suited to hold up my large light/modifier combo. That being said, as soon as I extended everything up to 6', it started to sag--the top uppermost extension pole literally bends a little under the strain of my light rig. So...I was forced to lower the upper pole down a bit, in order to prevent bendage. The lower part is thick and sturdy--so no worries there. So how much load am I generating with my light and softbox? Well, my Glow 38" deep parabolic softbox weighs in at 4lbs, and my Godox SL-60W weighs 3.5lbs. So that's 7.5lbs. The standard Neewer light stand is rated to hold loads up to 13.5lbs. The "heavy duty" stand is rated to hold up 17.5lbs. So why did I go with the "heavy duty" stand? Intuition I guess. My light modifier is "deep", meaning it sticks out a long ways--and physics being what it is...well I suck at math, but due to the fact it sticks out over the center of gravity of the light stand, I figured there would probably be something exponential about the amount of weight that would be generated. That and I just figured it would be better to be safe than sorry. Boy was I right! So, like I said, my great big light modifier sticks out beyond the center of gravity for this stand. Translation: It tips over. To compensate I do two things: 1. I make sure I swivel the modifier directly over one of the legs of the light stand--as opposed to between two of the legs. That gives it added stability. 2. I use sandbags. I bought some Esignmill sandbags (with yellow stripes), and filled them with paver sand from Home Depot. I estimate each of my sandbags weighs around 20lbs. I plopped one sandbag over the base of this light stand, and BOOM! No more tipping over. I'm glad I bought this "heavy duty" light stand--if I'd have cheaped out and went with the standard Neewer stand, there's no way it would have worked. (I mean, I already own a standard stand--so I KNOW it doesn't work). If the upper pole of the "heavy duty" stand bends under the strain, there's no way the cheap (erm, I mean "standard") light stand would be able to handle the load. Yeah--I know--everything's relative. Technically I "cheaped out" by going with Neewer in general. I'm sure there are other brands at much higher price points that can hold up my light rig without bending. But this one works (as long as I don't fully extend the upper pole)--and didn't break the bank. As long as you anchor this stand down (maybe with sandbags), and don't extend the top pole all the way, this stand can hold up a pretty top heavy and tippy light rig. I recommend... although when I get rich and famous, I'll probably upgrade to something even more "heavy duty".

Good product, good value for your buck
I think this is a good buy. The quality is decent, considering how cheap it is, it is pretty stable and it gets the job done. I think calling it heavy duty is a bit much. But it carries a decent amount of weight without any problems and is still pretty stable. For this amount of money, I would feel safe to recommend this item. For this price, it’s “heavy duty” enough and it does exactly what it’s made for, so no complaints.

Good for the price
I got this to hold a portable strobe that I have purchased. The strobe is like a studio strobe and not light per say. I placed it on this and it holds it right, I have to ensure that it opens the legs a little further to ensure it holds the weight. Overall works great so far and has no issues.

Quick delivery and great Newer stands
Well these weren’t supposed to come until Wednesday and they came today, Monday, Labor Day. Amazing. These are pretty good. Finally I have two new stands since my original stand that came with my ring light just isn’t holding up anymore. I’m so happy that I can use this for my two new lights (not ring lights). I unboxed these stands today and I love how lightweight but still durable enough. They are not heavy duty but they are really good.

Great value
This tripod is easy to set up and adjust, quite high and can be higher if needed! I use it on the carpet and it is very stable. I don't think it's heavy, just the weight that one hand can easily move, but this is a heavy-duty lightweight tripod. There is no problem in supporting a studio strobe light of about 3kg.

Unbelievable value for the price!
As for a versatile stand at this low price, this one is pretty heavy duty and sturdy, really hard to find anything better. I already have another three stands for fixed use in my studio and just want to get one more for backup or mobile use. To my surprise, it works so good, I use it to support a flash with a square softbox for portrait shooting and more than happy to see its performance. Would definitely recommend!

Great adjustability
with a ton of weight and height capacity, this stand is capable of handling all sizes and weight up to 17 lbs. i've been trying it out with different equipment and it can handle my softboxes and strobes and camera as well as lighter loads like with my reflector arm and my umbrellas. this stand will practically work for anything and everything.

Invest your money in a more solid lightstand
Not a reliable light stand. DISAPPOINTING! The way the light stand is designed, the threads barely hold onto each other and continually spin. If you completely loosen the knob, the knob will FALL off and you will lose the piece entirely. There is no piece for the knob to remain attached. This stand is not study unless you have sandbags or a person holding it. It will not be steady enough on its own outdoors. The stand hit a step as I was walking up and by some act of god, completely ripped the plastic off the leg and snapped the leg. I've used the stand in three shoots and it already failed. So much for "heavy duty." I tried reaching out to Neewer explaining their manufacture defect and failure and they refused to honor warranty on THEIR product failure, telling me to contact Amazon since it was from the Warehouse. Instead of replacing a $30 stand and helping me, they can get this review and refusal that I will ever recommend a Neewer product again. Go with Impact or Matthews.

Good photo light stand.
Excellent product, surprising quality for the low price. Needed a small light stand to hold a reflector in my studio and this is perfect for the job. Well made with good metal frame. Too early to comment on durability, but optimistic that it will be good for the long term.

A great tripod!
This tripod is on the lower side of quality with the price tag that goes with it. However, I would say that this tripod is good enough for a lot of application. It is still pretty sturdy and quite lightweight (which is mostly a positive feature). I do recommend the product. It is good enough for professional lighting equipment and it is very reliable so far.

Good value and solid - sturdy. No bag provided
Neewer truly excels in the non electronic space ; stands; clips and clamps and many products I would bet are made in the same factory as smallrig This was a great value stand ; a provided bag for it would be great but not 100% necessary either— just handy to have. Otherwise the actual stand is great for lighting or even holding a phone or tablet if you have the mounts / even microphone if you want.
