2.1X Eschenbach Max TV Glasses Distance Viewing

I have been unable to have cataract surgery in both eyes for over a year because of health problems. Now it's delayed because of the pandemic. I had bought numerous pairs of distance vision glasses which helped some. But I had become frustrated that, even on my large screen tv, I couldn't read the tiny print on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and other streaming apps. With these, I can adjust each eye and easily read all the teeny, tiny print on the screen. Gone are the good old days when the print was large enough to read (remember the old Roku?), now it seems that all the streaming channels want to cram as much on the screen as they can, and the print has became smaller and smaller. Browsing for things to watch had become a miserable enterprise. For anyone struggling to see their television, these are a Godsend. I can see everything with clarity. They are also lightweight and comfortable, as well as easy to adjust. Sometimes I have to readjust the focus because my eyes are tired and it's so simple! I never tried the cheaper ones, but went straight to these and they are totally worth the price! Okay, I look like something from outer space when I'm wearing them, but who cares?!

These glasses are very uncomfortable to wear. They literally hurt. Magnification does work.

These glasses were quite helpful to my wife who has significant vision deficit. I would rate them 4 or 5 stars except for the fact that the tiny plastic hinge broke. They were treated carefully so I think the blame is in poor design. We are using some duct tape to try to hold the ear piece to the glasses but it doesn't work very well and wife doesn't want to use them any more. These glasses cost way too much, $180+, to break so easily. I am going to try to contact the seller and see if anything can be done. I will update this review if we get any satisfaction. Update, 2/15/19: I inquired with the seller if anything could be done. They said to talk to the manufacturer, Eschenbach, which I did. Eschenbach asked me to recontact the seller and have them coordinate warranty replacement. I just got a notification that this was in progress. Therefore I am happy up upgrade my rating to 3 stars. Just hoping they last a bit longer than 5 months this time.

We bought glasses as a last resort, and at the recommendation of one of his doctors, decided to try both the near and far magnifying aids ....hoping they would help my husband, who is very near sighted and has central vision issues in one eye. While the glasses for near did not improve his reading ability beyond that provided by 4 readers, and were returned, the tv glasses for distance viewing beyond 10 feet did help some. My husband, with the adjustable distance magnifying aids, is now able to see more detail while viewing tv, (i.e., faces), and can read large print on distant screens. While not everything we had hoped for, any improvement is good when it comes to vision, and we will accept that. The quality of this product is good, generally speaking.....expensive, but worth it when it comes to sight. The communications regarding the purchase were timely, and delivery of product within time commitment given.

Bought these glasses for my 85 yr old mother who is going blind from Age Related Macular Degeneration (and years of smoking before quitting at the age of 50) What a game changer for her! These Weird looking glasses focus her peripheral vision to the center visual field to enable her to watch television and recognize faces and see detail that was previously lost. They are not good for reading ( sadly , not much can be done for that) or walking around. But they have truly improved her quality of life. After many years of seeing vision specialists it was a general optometrist who recommended them. I have been telling her ophthalmologists and retinal specialists and even Helen Keller Services about these glasses and it seems to be news to them. Weird, since we live in a heavily saturated Healthcare region in a major metro area. Although they are made of plastic and will probably not be very durable, they are well worth the $200 cost. One of the best vision aids I have ever come across. So happy, that I could bring a little joy into my Mom's life...even if she does look like 'Buck Rogers' with them on.

I purchased these for my dad with Macular Degeneration and Glaucoma. I was really excited for him to try them as he has always loved watching TV and is now unable to see the picture. He tried adjusting them but the visual enhancement did not work for his needs. That wasn't the reason I gave them one star. I did this because I spent a lot of money on them and now they say they are not returnable. I ALWAYS check the return policy on my purchases before I buy something and I am sure they were marked returnable (or I would not have purchased them, especially at such a high price), but when we tried to set up a return, now it says they do not qualify for a return. I am EXTREMELY disappointed and a bit angry.

Updated 10/25/2020: Reduced from 5 stars to 2, they worked great until they broke. It’s been less than 8 months and now both arms have broken off. My 87yo dad didn’t drop them, it’s the construction. I tried reaching out to get them repaired because I can no longer return them but for ~$200 glasses you’d expect more. Will update again but for now I cannot recommend these. Bought these for my dad who used to use binoculars to watch TV which was about 20 feet away. Everything appeared blurry so he used binoculars but obviously couldn’t hold them up for long. These solve both problem and they do it well, really impressed and I’m so happy he can watch TV effortlessly now.
