Appear to work fine in smoke alarm and PIR detectors
12th Jan 2020. Have used these for a month now in 2 PIR motion detectors and a smoke alarm. So far no problems. They do not come fully charged and only give 7.5v straight out of the box which will cause a smoke alarm to chirp with a low battery warning if used straight away. As lithium ion batteries are best stored around 40% charged it's understandable they are delivered not fully charged. Fully charged they reach 8.52v which my appliances designed for 9v were happy with. The batteries will not charge higher than 8.52v (normal for lithium ion cells emulating a 9v PP3 battery from what I read) and appear to have an overcharge protection circuit. They take several times longer to charge than my old 9v NiMh 175mah rechargeables on a 20 year old Ever Ready battery charger but then the EBL's capacity is several times more so I can't complain. Lithium Ion batteries should work better than NiMh at cool temperatures which is good if you have a PIR detector in a cold location. After 3 months use in 2 household alarm PIR motion detectors the voltages read 8.14v and 8.17v, and 3 months use in a smoke detector lowers the voltage to 8.3v with no low battery warnings yet. 27th Feb 2021. Have used these batteries for over a year now and happy with performance. Low battery warning/chirp on smoke alarm when battery gets down to 7.25v. I think the charge lasted best part of a year.

Excellent Batteries
Good value for money. Holds charge well. Bought to replace Energizer rechargeable batteries which didn't last very long. Highly recommend.

Work well
I already had a couple of these batteries which I use in my electro-acoustic guitar. Not using the electric side that much I did recently check the battery since I didn't want to find problems like battery acid eating away at the insides of the guitar. It was perfectly fine so I was happy to buy some more when I needed 9v batteries for the smoke alarms in the house. I'd initially gone out to buy standard 9v batteries but found that they can cost almost as much as these EBL 9v batteries, and since the latter are rechargeable I had no second thoughts about buying them. I had previously bought an EBL 9v charger (when I bought the first two batteries) so didn't have to consider the additional cost of a charger. Incidentally, I did put these on charge when they arrived, but there appears to have been a good charge in them anyway since it didn't take long for them to be fully charged. I'd therefore recommend these, but take into account that you may need a charger suitable for 9v lithium batteries. I prefer to charge rechargeables at the low charge rating (rather than use a 'fast' charger) which seems to keep them going longer.

Worth getting over non lithium
These lithium batteries last much longer than ordinary rechargeables, but remember they need a dedicated lithium charger. I have now bought more.

Not as good as the blue ones, reds are only 7v when charged.
The new red packaged batteries are inferior to the blue ones that I had purchased previously, in that fully charged and straight off of the charger these only reach approx. 7.7v (the blue ones are around 8.7v). After being off the charger for an hour they measure 7.1v. The batteries themselves now state in small print on the side that they are 7.4v. Purchased for DVM's and smoke detectors that work with the blue ones, these are indicated by the host device as already being flat when fully charged making them unusable for these applications. Please bring back the blue ones, EBL !

OK, possible quality issues as 1 battery in the pack did not charge.
8,4v output not 9v, they give a reasonable current. Fits in the same place as a regular battery with no issue, the ones that did work seem to hold a charge for a long time. I use them in my remotes, tools, meters and radios that need 9v batteries. capacity is good too. I marked it down to 3 stars as a 25% failure rate is not good really. I have 8 of these so far (7 worked out of the box properly) I use the dedicated Li-on/NiMH 9v charger and apart from 1 battery they charge OK and pretty quickly too. If you get the cycles indicated, then the price is good. though the initial cost is high.
