So how do i use this device? Do i plug an ethernet cable from my router into the splitter, and then i can use other ethernet cables for other devices?
Does this enable multiple devices to be using internet at the same time?
So it says 5 and has five in the picture but is that one input and 4 out put or an input on the side and 5 outputs on the front?
Is this wall mountable?

Smart Sony TV

Superb kit. Worked first time without any setting at all. VERY quickly delivered by Kikatek. Some stuff the description leaves out: There's an external powersupply with this and it needs to be plugged in to function. There are eight Ethernet RJ45 sockets. ONE of which acts as an input (ie, 'the internet' coming from your router or HomeHub) the other SEVEN of which allow bits of gear to be hardwired to this input. (ie, It's not one 'in' and eight 'outs'). Box is very small and compact. Absolutely silent. I ran out of Ethernet ports for my AV gear on my HomeHub 5 (which I had to have in a cupboard giving rubbish WiFi). This TP box fixed all that. Here's how I'm using it: BT HomeHub 5 now in optimum position in the dining room, WiFi reaching the whole house. Ethernet cable runs from HomeHub socket 1 to my Mac close-by. Sorted. A second ethernet cable runs from HomeHub's socket 2 under the floorboards across the house to the media room and this TP-Link 8-Port box. This now gives me SEVEN hard-wired ready to go Ethernet ports in amongst my AV gear pile: So that's a hard-wired Apple TV, YouView Box, BluRay player, Smart Sony TV, Pioneer AirPlay Amp, PlayStation 4 and one spare ;) ZERO gear using shonky WiFi connection – all gear exposed to BT Infinity running at top speed. Magic and an absolute bargain for around £11!

No issues whatsoever

I bought one of these because I have several components that plug into my TV that can be connected to the internet/home network (Freesat box - for iPlayer, media streamer - to share media over my network and blu-ray player too). Since I only have one potential Ethernet cable from my router, I obviously needed an Ethernet switch to make it possible to hook all three up.As one would expect of an Ethernet switch, it's a connect-the-wires-and-power-up jobby. It works just fine, doesn't run too hot and auto-detects whether to run at 10 or 100mbps (although I'll be amazed if anyone is running at 10mbps these days).People ought to bear in mind that you should really only use Ethernet switches for devices that don't all simultaneously need lots of bandwidth when connecting to other devices on your network. Every device plugged in to your switch has to share a total of 100mbps of bandwidth because they all use the same common cable to hook up to your router (or wherever else it goes). In my case, although my media streamer can be fairly intensive (up to 50mbps), generally iPlayer is no greater than 2mbps and the blu-ray player only uses the link to download firmware updates, so even if I were using all three at the same time, they wouldn't max out the connection. As an example, I would never connect a NAS server to a switch: the whole point of network storage is that it needs all the bandwidth it can get and could potentially have several demands from different computers at the same time. One should try and plug in bandwidth-hungry devices as high up the network as possible (i.e. as close to your router as possible). This effect would be reduced if you use a gigabit Ethernet network (because there's 10x more bandwidth available). Also, these switches can be daisy-chained. In theory, the number you can daisy chain is limitless, but in practice you'll see higher latencies and eventually signal degradation. (Although this effect will occur well beyond the needs of the typical home user.)Overall it's a solid purchase. I went for the 8-port switch over the 4-port because the price difference was about a pound and the extra ports offer me more expandability in the future.

Works straight out of the box

Bought this to add extra network ports to my system, replacing an earlier 5 port model which is now in use elsewhere. Very much in the days now of connected devices, you can never have too many network ports. It worked straight out of the box - no configuration required - the only slight issue for me was that it requires less power to run than the original 5 port, so I had to swap out the power adapter - not essentially a problem and there is the benefit of a lower running cost. All in all a good buy - it is neat and tidy, compact and lightweight, unobtrusive in useThere are activity leds in the port sockets, so easy to see what is running.Would recommend.

Great purchase.

I bought the switch because I was tired of constantly plugging and un-plugging my ethernet cable into different devices which comes from my powerline adapter (Does work with powerline/powerplug network adapters). Straight out of the box no need for any complicated setup just plug the power adapter into the switch and that's it and after that just plug your devices into the back of the switch and of course your network backbone (powerline or straight from your router ethernet cable. I currently have 5 devices plugged into switch going through my powerline adapter, this switch still works great under bandwidth usage from multiple devices but of course it can be slow due to the fact it's all going through one physical link, nothing to do with the switch. Overall this product is a neat little piece of kit: small, easy to setup and good value.

Switch not working. Unable to route traffic out to internet.

Purchased this to extend te amount of ports i could use on my router, connected as follows,1 x rj45 from switch to router,1 x rj45 from pc to switch,no intenet connectivity, unable to ping out to anything, checked IP address and mac addres tables on router and no pc listed.Plugged pc direct into router and all ok.Swapped out cable from switch to router and fro pc to switch, tested again, nothing working.Seems like this switch doesn't work properly, maybe there are bad batches or it's just a bad switch.I went for the cheapest and guess this is a lesson learned.
