Draper 61621 Submersible Dirty Water Pump with Float Switch, 166L/min, 550W, Blue

A similar Draper pump but with an internal float failed after six months and is no longer available. This replaced it and following advice on how to best position the float arm has worked flawlessly since July 2023. I have a small garden with clay soil. This pump is located in the lowest part of the garden inside a container. Even during the wet December it kept my garden free from flooding. I’m very happy with it.

I wanted this to sit in a small sump below a de-humidifier. This pump is designed with an external float switch that cuts-in after the water level is a minimum of about 6" above the top of the pump - well above the point at which I'd have water all over the floor. I have solved this by tie-wrapping the float switch cable half-way up the side of the pump so the range of movement for the float switch starts much lower down. It now works perfectly pumping water out of my cellar up to a drain 6m horizontally and 2m higher than the pump. It empties a 40 litre bucket in about 15 seconds and sitting in the room about I never hear it.

Purchased to replace a smaller,ailing pump.Used to pump out a sump that helps the back garden from getting flooded at times of very heavy rainfall.Pumps quickly and is not irritated by small debris. Easy to set up.

Wanted a high quality pump for our cellar, something we can reply on to clear the sump and prevent flooding. This machine only work intermittently and whilst it power up fine when the float rises, it doesn’t pump water out 8 time out of 10 (you then have to lift it up and down a dozen times to get it working). When it works it’s great, but the reality is it doesn’t the majority of the time. Refund window has passed and we are out of pocket thinking we were buying a quality product from a quality brand.
