Are the Torx bits small enough to open 2.5" hard drive casings? They have very small screws!

I would say yes. The shafts are really slim and there are 48 different screw heads and even some small socket spanners plus a flexible head. For the thickness, they are quite sturdy too. A good buy in my opinion.

Would the tri piece work in removing the back of a switch?

It depends on what type of screw heads that were used to assemble the switch ? The Tri kit contains a variety of precision bits which are useful and suitable for all sorts of different screw heads. So probable ok. The Tri kit driver set is not electrically insulated, so fittings should be powered off etc. for safety before working on them

Will i be able to work on my macbook pro mid 2012 non retina with this set of screwdrivers?

I've had this set for a while and I haven't not been able to open anything electronic with it. While I havent tried opening up a mac book Pro I'm sure it probably has the right tool

Are there any nontapering flat head tips in the set. I have very old small screws to remove From sewing machineand do not wish to strip the screw head

the flatblades are hollow-ground so the tips are almost parallel so I don't think the will be a problem with screwhead slot turnout damage.
