Kenwood DMX7017DABS AV Receiver with Bluetooth, Black

so i purchased this to replace an old stereo in a nissan nv 200 it has a double din sized radio slot and i wanted something with a screen and android auto for usefulness. My original radio was a pain to remove in the face that it is all built in to the dash so had to remove three of four panels to get it out.This was actually a big help because this unit had a dab windscreen areail GPS unit and mic that the wires needed hiding so ended up removing pretty much all of the dash it sound extreme but made the job so much easier.i also wanted to retain the steering wheel function that needed an additional harness purchased separately vehicle specific.So after all the faff of installing the various components and re programing the steering controls i finally got it plugged in Bluetooth works perfectly straight away.Dab reception is fine.i had a few issues with android auto but after a bit of searching the net and tring a few things it was as simple as getting the correct USB lead as in genuin phone lead not an aftermarket one and one that was figured out its a stunning radio for the money my wife has a factory fitted screen and this is far better in every way sounds amazing looks cool and works fine soo all good 👍

Researched a lot for a HU that support Android Auto and Apple Car Play at a reasonable price. Was not into all the bells and whistles and this does the job perfectly and really easy to use. It is of average depth (previous HU were too large and went too deep into the centre console) so fitting was easy enough. I also found that my FM signal was boosted by a fair amount but this could have just been because the old HU was so old.

In a word; disappointing. Having acquired a 2007 VW T5 I decided to uprated the head unit to something with Bluetooth but being the older pre-facelift T5 meant my choice was limited to to an aftermarket unit, having done lots of research and read lots of reviews I settled on the Kenwood DMX7017DABS. Fitting was fairly straight forward once I’d got the correct quad-lock connector loom and VW aerial adaptor, all good so far, but living with it? After 10 months I dislike it even more than I did in the first couple of weeks, although the screen has limited contrast/brightness adjustment, it gets by ok in the VW T5 which has the head unit mounted at an awkward angle in the dash, I hate the fact the buttons aren’t illuminated when the unit is off, not even the on/off button which means you’re fumbling about at night trying to work out which button turns it on, there’s nothing to help you work out from touch either.What does infuriate me is the Spotify App which is the main reason I bought it, when it works it’s great but it doesn’t often work, it’s so ‘laggy’ it freezes either completely so it’s totally unresponsive or you can forward the music track and the screen won’t change/update, really frustrating, the bluetooth app seems slightly better but has been known to freeze and of course you only get a basic menu. The radio is pretty bad as other reviewers have stated, the display is awful, it only shows the station presets so you have to remember what station you’ve assigned to which preset, there is the option to maximise/open up the preset window which kind of solves the problem but it will only open temporarily before minimising the window again.Considering this unit has no disc mechanism there is no excuse for only giving it one usb socket, if you use Android Auto or Apple Car Play then you have to physically connect your phone so there goes your one and only USB port, the way I got around this was to have a female usb socket mounted in my glovebox then I can change between Apple Car Play and a USB stick but it’s still fiddly and two USB ports would have been the better solution.Overall to recap, the interface graphics are rubbish and the information it gives is poor, it keeps freezing which is very annoying, having volume buttons instead of a rotary knob is annoying and it only has one USB port, the ‘on’ button isn’t illuminated when off so you end up fumbling to turn it on in the dark, the only real pro I can think of is that the sound quality is excellent. I feel that most of my issues could be resolved with a redesign of the firmware but I don’t see kenwood doing that.I really cannot understand why lots of professional AV magazines/websites gave it top marks in reviews though, look for a different unit.

The unit is a nice looking bit of kit .However the USB port is at the back of the Unit so you will have to Route that round you Centre Console.I Bought This unit as it will connect up via Android Auto App on my Phone .This in Practise is not that Easy to achieve you will need to run one of the cables fro the wiring Loom and connect it to the Handbrake sensor switch Which is a rather big job (well it was on my Volvo )

A easy to use radio with the benefit of Apple Car Play. I now have a clutter free dashboard with no need for a TomTom or a bluetooth hands free phone device. The sounds are crystal clear when playing music or through the DAB radio. Very pleased with this radio.

I have had this stereo now for about 12 months and it is absolutely brilliant. I had tried a few pioneer models and had nothing but trouble so returned them. Glitch free and and an awesome sound.. bought mine from Halfords... really do not understand the bad reviews. ( i use android 10 ).

Great spec, and every feature I would ever need, but terrible user experience* The screen is very dim and highly reflective, you can't see it in bright sun at all* The touch screen function is very un responsive, often have to tap the screen 3 or 4 times for simple function* The volume up control is blocked at 15 steps up (about half way) from there on you have tap it again and again...tap, tap,tap,tap,tap,tap, to turn the volume up* the DAB receiver user interface is horrible, in normal display you can't see the stations names just preset numbers, and the scrolling information display never gives an information. Its only a few characters long so every BBC Radio Station just shows as BBC RADIO...... because the rest of station name is not shown, if you select to scroll, it scrolls once and stops Below that the program name, current song playing.... all that is empty. (see photo)All the above make it incredibly frustrating to use, so you can have a lovely long feature list, good specs, and nice sound, but if its horrid to use why give it 5 stars.Really really disappointing,

Assolutamente fantastico, facile da usare, intuitivo, colori molto vivi, qualità audio ottima, dab integrato, insomma la radio perfetta per chi non vuole spendere uno stipendio ma avere un doppio din di altissimo livello.

Excellent autoradio Double DIN avec une qualité son très bonne.Pas de lecteur CD/DVD mais nul besoin, ça permet d'avoir un écran plus grand.Le système Android auto permet d'avoir sur l'autoradio l'écran de son portable avec toutes les appli compatibles.le DAB+ apporte une qualité d'écoute inégalée par rapport à la FM.

Ganz ehrlich, ich kann die schlechten Bewertungen garnicht nachvollziehen.Vor dem DMX7017DABS war ein Kenwood DDX4021BT im Einsatz welches aber mittlerweile in die Jahre gekommen ist und mir alles ein wenig zu langsam war.Der Versand war schnell, verpackt war es naja, sagen wir mal so es kam unbeschädigt an.An Zubehör ist alles bis auf eine DAB Antenne dabei was man braucht(GPS Empfänger, Strom/Lautsprecher Anschlüsse, Mikrofon und USB Verlängerung).Einbau und Anschluss war reibungslos, GPS Empfänger und eine DAB Antenne hab ich momentan nicht drin aber kommt die Tage noch rein da es etwas zeitaufwändiger ist diese zu verlegen.Inbetriebnahme ging auch Kinderleicht von der Hand, alles ziemlich selbsterklärend.Getestet wurde bis jetzt Bluetooth, USB und Android Auto. DAB und Radio ergänze ich sobald die DAB Antenne und ein RadioAdapter drin hab.Bluetooth einrichten geht super easy, danach direkt ausprobiert wie lange es dauert bis die Bluetooth Verbindung neu Hergestellt ist und das so fix das ich es kaum glauben konnte.Also wenn ich das Radio anmache und dann Bluetooth beim Handy aktiviere ist die Verbindung direkt nach dem Startbild da.USB ist da ziemlich genau so fix im auslesen und starten der Musik.Nun zum wichtigsten für mich persönlich.Android Auto funktioniert super, verbindet ohne Probleme und erfüllt absolut was es verspricht.Musik höre ich da von Amazon Music und das klappt ohne Probleme,Anrufe über die Sprachsteuerung funktionieren auch auf anhieb.Navi ist verdammt schnell im Gegensatz zu einigen Originalnavis und auch Navitainern, was aber wahrscheinlich daran liegt das das Handy und nicht das Radio die Navi App berechnet. Zudem ist ja noch nicht mal der GPS Empfänger installiert.Zieleingabe mit Sprachsteuerung hat auch direkt funktioniert, unterwegs bekmmt man zudem zuverlässig Stau und Alternative Route mit Zeitersparnis angesagt.Musik und Navi zusammen geht auch ohne Komplikationen.Bei Empfangen Nachrichten sieht man wer geschrieben hat und kann die Nachricht vorlesen lassen und antworten.Mir persönlich geht das bissel auf en Keks und werde die Nachrichten nicht mehr einblenden lassen, das kann warten bis man kein Auto mehr fährt.Neben all dem gutem gibts aber auch ein paar Kleinigkeiten die man besser lösen könnte.Zum ersten ist mir die Schriftgröße die ja unglaublich variiert(nicht bei Android Auto da passt es ganz gut) aufgefallen, wieso kann man nicht alles auf die selbe Größe machen bzw. die Schrift auf 3-5 verschiedene Größen einstellbar.Meiner Meinung nach ist der Display im Grunde wirklich gut, auch bei Sonnenschein noch gut ablesbar aber die Auflösung könnte im Jahr 2017 schon 1080p sein da diese auch nichtmehr die Welt in der Produktion kosten.Das sieht wirklich merkwürdig aus.Dann frag ich mich wieso muss das Android Auto Symbol verschwinden sobald ich mein Handy trennen, in meiner Favoritenleiste ist so eine Graue Kachel in der normalerweise das Android Auto Symbol ist.Sieht auch irgendwie nicht so schick aus.Dann noch eine Sache und zwar ist nur 1 USB Anschluss vorhanden.Wieso macht man da nicht 2 hin, das sprengt keinem das Budget wenn er wegen mir 10€ mehr bezahlt für das Radio wenn man es eh kaufen will.Alles in allem ist es aber denoch ein super Radio was für ca. 450€ auch deutlich günstiger ist als vergleichbare Moniceiver bzw. Navitainern die es bis jetz auf dem Markt zu haben waren.Wer eh nur über Handy Musik hören will der wird hier definitiv nicht enttäuscht und kann sein Smartphone auch top in Älteren Autos integrieren.Hoffe das hilft dem einen oder anderen weiter :).Update:ZUM DAB UND RAFIO EMPFANG.DAB und radio funktioniert soweit git und so wie es soll.DAB ist meist aber nur in Großstädten möglich, bei uns auf em Ländchen also ca 30 km bis zur nächsten Stadt ist aber nix zu bekommen zumindest beim fahren.Verstehe nicht wieso einige es bemängeln das die Sendernamen nicht angezeigt werden, bei mir werden die angezeigt(siehe Bilder).Mittlerweile ist auch ein Update für das Radio verfügbar, ich meine das sich die Auflösung wesentlich verbessert hat, sieht nicht mehr so Pixelig aus. Ansonsten hat sich glaube nur die Leistung einwenig verbessert(laut Keynotes).

Ich versuche mich kurz zu fassen.Ich kann hier diverse Rezensenten nicht nachvollziehen. V.a. die nicht, die sich über die unlogische Menüführung beschweren. Diesen Rezensenten kann ich nur sagen Sie hätten doch mal ein Konkurrenzprodukt zum Vergleich ausprobieren sollen.Aber zunächst zu den wenigen negativen Aspekten:Der Montagerahmen, der bei meinem Exemplar mitgeliefert war, war etwas schief gefertig. Damit war die Montage des Ganzen etwas hakelig. Auch der Ausbau mittels Entriegelungsschlüsseln könnte besser gehen, auf Anhieb klappt das nie. Im Vergleich mit Konkurrenzprodukten bläst außerdem der Lüfter hinten am Gehäuse etwas ungestüm. Und das, obwohl ich die interne Endstufe, also das, was am meisten Abwärme produziert, nicht einmal nutze. Ein Radio, bei dem man sachte den Lüfter heraushört, hatte ich noch nie. Es wäre mir aber bisher auch noch nicht aufgefallen, dass das Radio sonderlich warm würde, also kann ich das verschmerzen. Bei Musik auf Zimmerlautstärke hört man ihn schon nicht mehr. Gewünscht hätte ich mir eine Mitgelieferte DAB+-Nachrüst-Antenne. Aber weil das entsprechende Produkt aus dem Hause Kenwood nur wenig mehr als 20€ kostet, kann ich auch das verschmerzen.Nun zum Positiven:Die Menüaufteilung, auch das mit den frei belegbaren Favouritenquellen auf dem Homescreen, finde ich sehr gelungen. Anders als bei den Meisten Günstigen Monicievern gibt es sogar einen während der Fahrt komfortabel zu erreichenden Knopf für ein Manuelles Umschalten auf das Rückfahrkamerabild. Das Setup Menü lässt sich als Overlay von oben und unten einblenden, ohne dass dabei in einen anderen Bildschirm gewechselt werden muss (finde ich sehr cool, besonders wenn man sich aus einer 10000 Titel-Liste gerade einen Track herausgesucht hat, ihn aber noch nicht sofort abspielen möchte). Die Bedienung des Touchscreens ist flüssig (und das dürfte in dieser Preisklasse einmalig sein, denke da vor allem an das Geruckel bei den Konkurrenzprodukten von Pioneer und Alpine), das Display ist auch bei Sonneneinstrahlung super abzulesen und die Hardwaretasten am unteren Gehäuserand haben haptisch einen angenehmen Druckpunkt. Wichtig für den Betrieb an einer ordentlichen Anlage: Die Frequenzweichen sind super fein grafisch justierbar. Equalizer, Phasenumkehr für den Sub, Quellenpegelanpassung, ein Gainregler für jeden Ausgang, alles an Bord was man braucht. Auf die Ausstattung (sowohl CarPlay, als auch Android Auto, DAB+), die in dieser Preisklasse ebenfalls einmalig ist, will ich gar nicht näher eingehen.Den wichtigsten Punkt, die Audioqualität lasse ich hier weg. Jedes Radio klingt ein wenig anders, hier etwas als besser oder schlechter zu bewerten ist zu subjektiv, zu sehr vom Rest des Systems abhängig. per 400 euro - montato su audi a3 suono eccellente una separazione audio eccezionale ... peccato per il dab non ci sono emittenti nella mia zona ha la possibilità di funzionare con android e iphone ... io ho un bleckberry ed in emulazione android ho faticato per accopiare il sistema
