Great value for a reef aquarium.
This product is great value for any pond, fresh water or salt water aquariums. You simply need to place the carbon in a filter bag (not included), mesh net or old pair of tights, pre wash it to remove carbon dust which takes a couple of minutes or until it runs clear before placing it in high flow.I use 250 grams of activated carbon in a 100 micron mesh filter sock which I top off with filter wool so that I get both chemical and biological filtration in one hit which is connected to the return pipe in the sump of my 700 litre reef aquarium. My main reason for using activated charcoal is because I’m a smoker (I know, I know!) and have an open top aquarium and sensitive lps and sps corals. I change the carbon every 2 weeks (during water changes). This product saves me a lot of money, in comparison this product is equivalent to £22,50 of the branded product I was purchasing. I’m not sure anyone can confirm on absorption rate but I do know I haven’t noticed any change in my tank inhabitants. One happy customer here.

Suitable for all aquariums and ponds
Brilliant product suitable for most aquariums where you have room for a filter bag. The size of bag you use, will be according to space in the filter. The carbon comes in 5 separate plastic bags which are then sealed in a grey postage bag. This makes it possible to use a little at a time without the rest spilling all over the place. I opened all my bags though and transferred the carbon to a plastic drum for storage. The seller sent item quickly and the product was as described. Each pellet of carbon is nice and small making it suitable for all aquarium and pond uses. would recommend both seller and product.

Cheap bulk charcoal, not quite the 2kg stated
Bought with this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/4522124961/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to use to make my own fish tank filters.Looks like good stuff, though of course there is no way to tell the quality of the activation for comparison purposes. It's quite dusty so needs a really good rinse before use, and came in just a single bulk pack (unlike mentioned in other comments). All in all I'm pretty pleased and it will massively reduce the cost of my fish tank filters from about £3 per filter change to about £0.45. So, even if I have to do them more frequently there are undeniable savings.I've knocked a star off as the bag was about 100g light, which isn't a big deal but someone else mentioned the same. so clearly there is a bit of an issue with the quality control in that respect.Would recommend though, and will likely buy again in future.

Good quantity for a good price.
Arrived within timescale, as described and adequately packaged although I had to take care not to puncture the two 1kg bags while removing the tough plastic postage bag. The Carbon granules (appearing like little bits of pencil lead) are fairly even in size and there was very little dust when flushing through. I got this AC to improvise a large inline active carbon filter to add to a Sawyer water filter. This improvised filter uses about 250ml per fill and should last for many months. As such it seems to remove a lot of chemical pollution even from tap water, which tasted and even smelled much better during set-up and testing.

Very small granules
Granules were smallest I’ve ever received & several came through my mesh bags. Also a lot of dust & think I’ve spent a fortune on water washing through, but if I hadn’t done that my aquarium water would be dark grey/black. Won’t buy again.

Very good value
Great value for money compared to other brands such as Fluval. As for all carbon you need to rinse it thoroughly in a colander before using to remove the black dust. I have made my own filter bags from a pair of tights. Works very well.

Good carbon but largish pieces
This carbon is of very good quality and is fit for use, some of the pieces are quite large though. I think the only negative thing I would say is naturally you do not wish to use all this at once so I had to find a container for it as if left in the bag it would be all over the place, hence the 4 stars.
