A must have .. not only for motorists
I bought this Ring compressor a couple of years ago, so my review is based on a tried and tested product.Having owned numerous compressors, I find that this is by far the easiest and most reliable to use. The compressor is relatively silent, and strong enough to handle normal tyre pressure with ease, unlike on my previous compressors where the motor used to struggle once over around 20 psi.I really like the high quality metal thread connector which screws onto the tyre valve stem. Apart from offering an airtight connection, it also results in minimal loss of air whilst unscrewing. Most other commercial pumps offer a clip on system, which is fragile and quite annoying to use.Likes:○ Great design and sturdy construction.○ Very good tyre inflation concept and design. Rubber on the outside thus providing a solid grip, and durable metal thread on the inside○ User custom preset cut out pressure remains in memory. No need to set the pressure every time compressor is used○ Plug and forget. Whilst with most compressors you need to watch the display to check for the desired pressure, the Ring will stop automatically at the preset pressure. Works great!○ Built in torch and flashing red lights (very hand at night). If inflating on the road, the flashing lights are indispensable for safety○ The LCD display is so much better to read than the typical vibrating needle gauge○ Can be used to deflate over-inflated tyres (summertime) by a simple push on the dedicated button next to the nozzle head.○ Useful accessories which make this compressor appeal to anyone. Inflates footballs, lilos, airbeds...○ Can be stowed away neatly and easily. The design of the unit makes stowing the cables easy and everything plugs back into place. Unit can then be placed in the supplied protective cover.Dislikes:- None so farIt is a pity that the RAC640 cannot be used in the house. A mains connector would have made it the ideal multipurpose inflation device.Tips:1. When the compressor is used as pictured (in the vertical position) it tends to tilt over during use. Yet the compressor has rubber pads on the side, which means that you can lay it on its side with the controls and pressure indicator facing upwards. I do think that that it was designed to be used this way.2. When inflating more than one tyre using preset pressure, pressing the + button will reactivate the pump after an automatic cutout. This avoids the need to disconnect and reconnect the cigarette lighter plug.I highly recommend the Ring Automotive RAC640 Digital air compressor. A must have for motorists. The Ring Automotive RAC640 definitely merits a 5 star rating

Convenient, reliable and accurate, with some minor niggles.
6 months on, I've found this convenient and reliable. On the plus side, it's easy to use, with pre-set pressures and a long power lead. It achieves the desired pressure quickly, and is accurate as far as I can tell from measurements with a separate gauge. As well as the car, I've used it successfully to blow up footballs and boat fenders. There are a few niggles:1) It's very hard to unscrew the attachment from the car tyre valve without releasing air - it would be better if the screw fitting would rotate more easily without the air pipe also rotating.2) There is a button for deliberately releasing air, near the screw attachment, which I keep pressing accidentally when attaching and releasing. It would be better if further away from the end.3) The last time I used it, it kept inflating when well above the pre-set pressure; maybe I've accidentally changed a setting?Despite the above, I would still recommend it, though with 4 stars rather than 5.

Digital Air Compressor/Deflactor
Ring Automatic RAC640 12V Automatic Digital Air Compress/Deflator with Light is a light gudget that is easy and very effective to use. It is funny and enjoyable to use. I am happy that it will help me save financially by elongating my tyre life by avoiding running on high or low inflated tyres at the same time avoiding the petrol stations that charge when I need to check the tyres pressure. That it has a light makes it ideal to use at any time and at any place. I will recommend this gudget to anyone with much assurance and confidence.

Seems like its a good product
I have been using a Halfords branded compressor until now and it has been noisy. Granted that all these seem to be the exact same designs with different company branding. The Halfords one I have is a lesser model that Ring also seem to sell. This model is quieter but by no means quiet. The attachments seem well thought out and I'd imagine good for anyone who goes camping; but to me I need to use my mains powered compressor for air matresses as this does not have the correct adaptor for the mattress; and I don't want to go to the car to inflate it either. That said; for inflating car tyres it is impressive. It is as accurate as I can tell with 2 other devices and a paid for inflater at a service station. There is a pressure release button which is quite useful as mine seem to over inflate a bit too much (I guess it does this as you lose some pressure as you remove the connection to the tyre valve but I am quick so I manually let some air out first). The button for the light seems a bit naff; so it's lost a star for the buttons feeling cheap but it's otherwise a well refined product with a good sized handle and carry case that I have attached velcro to put in the back of my car and take with. Not worth as an upgrade if you own one that works. If this product is only a bit more expensive than a lower model; I would still recommend a lower model unless you would use the air bed inflation. I got this in a deal and that's the only reason why.I wouldn't say there's anything exceptional about this product. It does what it is meant to do and it just about makes it for quality.

Top quality
Have never beena big fan of these type tyre inflators but after recomendations on a car forum decided to give one a try. Opted for this one due to price and features. Arrived very quickly and was soon put to work. Performed excellently pumping three sets of tyres to different pressures with no problem. Easy to use and all packs away neatly in it's supplied carry case. Would recommend to anyone looking for a decent quality inflator which is also versatile and reliable and looks like it will stand the test of time and use.
