Baking for Beginners: Step-by-Step, Quick & Easy (Quick & Easy, Proven Recipes) Paperback – 27 May 2016

My husband wanted to try his hand at baking cakes etc. He doesn't like my cookery books so I thought this would be helpful.He says it's easy to follow and he enjoys using it. So far the results his efforts have been very tasty.

Bought for Mum in Law who raves about it likes the clear simple instructions and has already tried a few pastry recipes yum 😋

Lots of recipes with plenty of variety.My only criticism is that some of them could do with a little more guidance for beginners and I've had to do a bit of learning as I've gone along. Part of the issue with wanting to condense every recipe to a small page, perhaps?I found this most with biscuits, as there is no guidance on the size and the first batches tended to join together. I'm enjoying learning and the recipes taste really nice, so not a major criticism, but something to be aware of.

As we're all now back in lockdown my husband, at 65, has decided he really does want to bake - so rather than arguing as I try to teach him (old dog, new tricks!) I got him this. No Americanisms, simple, basic instructions to make all the fundamental stuff, from scratch, whether that's a straightforward sponge cake mix, batter, meringues or scones. Nothing too fancy (he's already said if there are more than 6 ingredients he's not making it) and the instructions are clear, not patronising, and well illustrated. For a tenner, this is great for beginners but also pretty useful for people like me who want to maybe try something different from the usual repertoire.Now my husband has all the gear but instead of no idea, he's actually pretty well informed.....and I can sit back with a cup of tea and wait for an exciting cake.

I brought this book for my 12 year old daughter.. we tried quite a few of them as we are in lockdown,some of the recipes were really nice and tasted fab .. others not so good ..

Love this book, good old fashioned recipes and easy to follow, would definitely recommend it.

Brilliant little book with some good recipes... Easy to flow with good pictures, have tried a few & looking forward to doing more. Only downside is the pages coming loose from the spine, have brought a small A3 folder with sleeve inserts to keep it together.

Great receipts but measurements are in grams, not cups or mls. Printing is quite small.

Not well laid out. Has typos and not as much advice as I was looking for.

I didn't realize this book is in the metric system for measurements.Now its. too late to return it.
