DEWALT DXV06G, 6 Gallon, Yellow+Black

I have a small metal workshop and have had numerous shop vacs from various companies over the last few years. Some cheaper and some really expensive. All have been less than ideal - not enough suction, always tipping over, dangerously loud etc., etc. I've got other Dewalt power tools and have always been impressed, so I thought I'd take a chance on this vacuum. I am impressed.First off, the suction is amazingly powerful. Big wads of metal shavings that were impossible to vacuum up before now just quickly disappear. Very impressed.Secondly (and perhaps just as important), this vacuum is quiet. It's not silent, but it's at least half the volume of other shop vacuums I've used. Extremely impressed.Comes with all the attachments you'd ever need. Oh, the main hose is long and flexible. Easy to stretch out to full length, and easy to coil up and stow. It's VERY flexible - not at all like the stiff plastic hoses most shop vacuums typically come with. In my small shop the long hose reaches everywhere, so I don't need to move the vacuum around.Like other reviewers here I too thought the wireless remote was kinda silly. Hoo boy was I wrong! It's been the biggest time saver. Who'd've thought you spend so much time walking over to your shop vacuum switching in on and off...I managed to get this from Amazon Warehouse for a very good price. Description said "Condition: acceptable. Does NOT come in original box." Well, it came in the original box. The box had been opened, and the clear plastic bag the whole vacuum is in was plainly torn open at the top, but the vacuum appears to have never been removed from the box. It was clearly untouched and had never been unpacked. Thanks, Amazon!So, if you're tired of wrestling with cheap shop vacuums, just bite the bullet and buy this one and get on with your life, never having to worry about a shop vacuum again.Recommended.

I have a home shop built out in a single car garage. I own WAYY and I mean WAYYYYY more tools and equipment than most any sane person should own. To say I play Tetris with stuff is an understatement. I do more metal working than wood working, so with two mills, a 14x40 lathe, belt grinder, bandsaws, and a drill press, there is plenty of swarf, grit, and dust to deal with. My first attempt at this was a Milwaukee M18 portable vacuum which does work, but the small hose and less than optimal suction wasn't always the best, plus while portable, the short hose dictated the unit was nearby. I swapped to a more conventional 15-20 gallon Ridgid, which worked better, but it was loud and always in the way. Back in the day I had one of those Hoover wall mount garage vacuums that I felt was always 15 seconds away from catching fire because it got so hot, so I gave it away and have been missing that floor space every since.I decided about a week ago to start looking for a replacement vacuum, and preferably something which I could wall mount, but that had a long enough hose. I guess in the years where I didn't look, some new products had come out with some mandatory key features I'd want:1. Wall mountable.2. Doesn't blow your ear drums out when using it.3. Long hose which can reach around a 12x20' garage.4. Uses debris collection bags and not only a filter.5. Remote controlled!To my surprise there were a few products out there which seemed to do all of these things. While I'm fortunately, or maybe unfortunately a Milwaukee tool guy, I do have an assortment of Dewalt cordless and corded tools as well. I've never had any issues with Dewalt except for my 10" tile saw smoking the motor after maybe 8 hours of actual use, and I had to basically buy the parts piece meal to build a new motor for it. Anyhow, outside of that, it has been smooth sailing. After looking at the products I found which met my needs, I decided on this Dewalt. I didn't get the best price based on the historical review of the price, but after receiving it, installing it, and actually using it - I don't care. It's worth what I paid for it.Here's what I can tell you. Is it silent? No, but I'd estimate it's about a 1/3rd quieter than the other vacuums I've been using in the shop. The wall mount bracket was easy to install and it holds everything well enough. I mounted mine pretty high up on the wall above a drill press in an area that wasn't occupied but had an outlet nearby. Installation is easy as long as you have a drill/driver. I am someone who always tries to directly screw into the studs, but in this case, it wasn't possible, so I decided to go 100% Dewalt and even used their wall anchors. If they give me issues down the road, I'll let you know. I normally use the threaded style that bite into the drywall better, but I decided this time, I'd use what they gave me. I used a 1/4 drill bit to drill the pilot holes, and then tapped the anchors into the drywall using a small dead blow hammer. Once the wall plate is screwed to the wall, you can slide the bag onto the metal lower guard/bracket, and then slide that into the wall bracket. At that point you hang the vacuum on the bracket, and the installation is complete. It took me about 15 minutes to install it in an awkward location, and anyone should be able to do it if you have a few ounces of mechanical inclination within you.Using the vacuum is where the rubber meets the road, and I've been very happy with how it works. Having the remote strapped to the end of the hose is awesome. This is especially nice when I'm machining something. I can have the hose in my hand and turn the vacuum on and off while I'm making cuts, or when swarf starts to build up, and that wasn't possible on my old vacuum because I'd have to turn around and bend over to turn it on. Once you have a remote, you won't be going back. That also made it possible to mount the vacuum is a less accessible area, because you can leave the switch in the remote setting, and simply use the remote control without having to access the physical power switch.I'm super happy and may buy a second one for my other 2-car garage, though I do more automotive work in there. However, there area always cars to vacuum out and little messes to clean up. While this isn't the cheapest vacuum like this, and I can't say it's the best since I have not tried the other competing products, what I can say is I'm picky, buy higher end stuff, and this does not disappoint. Plenty of suction, nice hose, reasonably quiet, out of the way, well designed remote, includes a bag, and is built nicely. What more could you want? If something changes, I'll update this review.

I like the versatility of the vacuum, we can use it like a garage wall vacuum, it can go I. The driveway ect. Suction is great, lots of attachments. The west band power button makes tidying up easier too. Very happy with my purchase!
