Multifunction BARGAIN!
This replaces a several years old HP Laser Jet 1018, a small bread box shaped unit that has served us well and which still works. Most of our printing needs are met by a black only laser, and toner does not smear like ink. This baby does all we could want and more, more because we don't need fax capability. Easy to set up with Windows XP or 7 via wifi or ethernet, it's fast, quite quiet, scans and prints very well, has a document feeder for copying and two-sided printing, a large cartridge, is energy and toner efficient if desired, and though considerably larger than our old HP, still fits nicely on top of a low file cabinet in our compact home office. At the price I paid (£110), I consider it a bargain! After less than a month so far, it is performing very nicely! Highly recommended.UPDATE 18th Nov 2016: Now after nearly 15 months, this is still a brilliant printer. It continues to function well and quite quietly. It does everything I need with the exception of auto feeding documents on both sides, and frankly, for our usage at home, that is trivial to the point of being unimportant. It really is no bother to turn documents to the opposite side in the auto feeder when double sided scanning is required. The duplex printing (two sided) is a joy. I have been completely happy with this printer.

Much better than the inkjet it replaced
Bought this laser printer after getting fed up of having an infrequently used HP inkjet drying out on me and failing to print whenever I needed it. The Samsung was very easy to setup and connected via WiFi first time. Since initial installation the printer has worked flawlessly and has not dropped connection and needed a full re-install like previous WiFi printers I have owned. Print quality is very good (even on eco mode) and printing is faster than my previous inkjet. It was unclear as to whether the printer would come with a 3 year warranty as the official Samsung site suggested that it would only be 12 months but on receiving the printer it is clearly stamped on the box as having a full 3 year warranty and is backed up with a small warranty book confirming this. I would not hesitate to recommend this printer to anyone looking for a cheap, well designed and fully featured home/small office laser printer.

TOO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS
I don't use this very often and unfortunately, just a few months after buying, it became problematic when trying to scan anything. It usually takes many attempts to actually get the thing to scan and I have, on occasion, given up. MOST of the time, it prints without too much faffing about, but printing can also be problematic, requiring several attempts before finally working. I am baffled why this is a Which? Best Buy and: I'M SORRY I BOUGHT THIS BIG, CUMBERSOME AND ERRATIC PIECE OF EQUIPMENT. WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND BUYING THIS.Original Comments:I've been dithering about getting this model for over a year: it is a Which? Best Buy and has more features than I really needed or wanted (i.e., includes a fax). Have only used it a couple of times so far and, after not having a printer for a couple of years (or rather a dud Kodak printer which was a total waste of money) I am CHUFFED with this. Two slight niggles: there was no instruction booklet included AND it is a tad large so doesn't fit under my 'standing desk' (which has two shelves) so it resides on a little side table next to it. But I can happily live with that. If size is not a problem, I would recommend this printer.

Control Panel is also annoying, requiring repeating several steps when a scan to ...
Some really irritating oversights make this 'less than perfect' but it does the job well enough. You can only scan to PC's running the Samsung software, whereas scanning to a samba share (such as on a typical NAS) is far easier than scanning to PC's running bespoke software on a network. Control Panel is also annoying, requiring repeating several steps when a scan to share inevitably fails. That said, copy is good, print quality is good, and speedy enough, and double sided printing is a paper-saving bonus.

A good design being failed by poor manufacturing and quality control
Bought this as a replacement to an earlier Samsung multifunction printer that had served us well for a while, but became unreliable on the paper feed. The new printer looks good and works well, but it took 3 attempts to get one that worked properly. The first one showed a line down the page when scanning or copying using the ADF, the second one never printed anything, just came up with an error code.So it looks like good design being failed by poor manufacturing and quality control - hopefully not a result of the HP take over, but something they will put right. However Samsung Technical Support and Printerland were very good at getting replacements shipped out and exchanged, so all credit to them.Would I recommend it? - well, yes, probably, as I think it is the best one on the market if you want a B&W multifunction (i.e. need scanning and ADF but not colour), but be prepared for the possibility of some issues...
