Rangerover Freelander Discovery Landrover ALUMINIUM roof tray and bars rack carry carrier

Got this for my Discovery, probably could have got away with the biggest size as it would accommodate it quite easily. The rack is excellent value for money. Once assembled it is quite light but feels very strong and durable. The one criticism I might have is the instructions for assembly that come in the box. The photos of some of the parts are too small and would really benefit from a profile view as opposed to the side on one. Having said that it really didn't take long to put together and there are extra parts ( Roof bars ) if you need them. Compared to the cost of other racks this is a bargain and I would recommend it quite happily.

Firstly, very good customer service and communication from the seller.The rack itself is a light weight aluminium rack that turned out to be a bit fiddly to put together - the self tapping screws take some effort to screw into the plastic corners - but once together seems fairly robust. It is not suitable for anything really heavy, but since it needs to be mounted onto roof bars, that will probably only take 75kg max, this shouldn't really be an issue. I found it a bit of a struggle to get just the right roof bars to fit. The ones it originally came with wouldn't fit the roof rails on my Jeep Cherokee, so had to get some replacements. The fittings it came with wouldn't fit on aero style roof bars, and it won't fit onto certain types of bars due to the way it attaches. I eventually got some Mont Blanc steel bars, measuring 32mm x 22mm, with a flush top.However, this is fairly minor issue as it is the rack that I was after.I was originally concerned that there was no locking mechanism, as it is my intention to leave the rack attached over the summer, but now that it is on, if anyone has the patience and tenacity to get it off they are welcome to it. It took a while.My intention is to use this to carry a roof bag and a couple of other bits and pieces for camping, to give a fixed base to keep everything off the roof of the car. I got the large size, which comfortably accomodates a 700mm X 700mm roof bag, and an army kit bag, with a bit of extra space for other odds and ends. If anything, I could have got the extra large, and it wouldn't have been too big for the Jeep.All in all - ok for the price, and does the job. But you may need to check how it will fit to your car.

As previously mentioned in other reviews,instructions aren’t the best with the pictures being too small.A little tip.The description of irons refers to the threaded piece of steel that slides into slot in the bottom of the crossmembers.You need to do this before you fix the ends on.I pilot drilled holes for self tappers too.Overall ,rack seems pretty sturdy and looks good too.Mines black not silver though,I’m not too fussed.

We assembled this last night, so haven't used it yet. However at this stage I can say it seems like a sturdy roof tray that fits well onto our Skoda Kodiaq and will just about fit our massive roof bag in it.Assembly should have been easy, but the instructions were hard to understand, and we missed an important step meaning we had to completely start again when we thought we'd finished. Despite the setback we finished in a couple of hours. Would have been a bit over an hour if done correctly.The seller was fantastic at sending the item promptly after I mentioned we needed it at short notice.

A really well designed product, ready for self-assembly, with even a few spare screws and bolts. The step by step instructions were fine, but a pity about the poor print quality. No problem, all assembled in a couple of hours. Perhaps it helped having a meccano childhood!

Delivered in black but not completely unexpected reading other reviews. Bit tricky to assemble but OK. Build quality is reasonable but I would take care not to overload. Looks great even just running about unloaded. I chose to mount this on my own roof bars and not use the ones provided but the supplied ones looked ok. Have used it to carry some materials from our local DIY store with no problems and plenty of bungee points on the bottom tray. Roll on stay vacation's and trips to the Scottish islands! 🙂

Very sturdy when on car. have travelled thousand miles with no issues or adjustments required. Some of the instruction could be clearer. Great value for the money. Recommend.
