what thickness of card/other will this accommodate and how far in from the edge will it reach to pouch a hole?

I use 300 - 350gsm card without any problems, the depth into the cardstock is variable by means of a little switch on each hole cutter so you can get the same depth for lots of cuts, I would say about an inch is the deepest, and 1/4" the shallowest approximately but I'm at work so can't check, I will correct this when I get home if I'm wrong. I can say that I love it's smooth almost effortless action, plus the eyelet setting tool is so easy, if you've had a manual one you will love the difference!

Would it cope well with a flimsy material such as folded over glassine translucent paper?

Sorry I have no idea, I haven't tried glassine, I have used it with ordinary copy paper and it was fine. I just checked it with doubled vellum and it had no problems with making holes or setting eyelets. Hope this helps.

Does it split and flatten the eyelets evenly or are there jagged edges left?

Jagged edges in a star pattern are left. Not especially rough to the touch but unsightly if your project is double sided.

Does anyone know what the 2 sizes (dia) of eyelets in mm are suitable for this tool ?

The big punch hole is 4mm and the small punch hole is 3mm measured from the punch hole that I made. The eyelets that come with it fits the 4mm hole. It is just a tiny bit smaller than the hole. So I guess the smaller hole would fit an eyelet which is 3mm or less.
