Edge of the seat stuff. Excellent!
This is one of the best sci-fi series I’ve seen since the re-make of Battlestar Galactica. Another really well imagined post apocalyptic tale.OK, this pushes the limits of believability at times but one must bear in mind that one of the main requirements for enjoying Sci-fi is the ability to suspend one’s disbelief and give the imagineering a bit of leeway. It’s not hard to find holes to pick in most fantasy and sci-fi tales as it is, by its very nature, stretching the imagination, I could name a dozen regularly misused movie clichés myself that stretch credibility. And sometimes that criticism is actually well deserved: “Revolution” leaps to mind as an example - glaring errors in that one: for starters (?) diesel vehicles don’t need electricity to run; they don’t need to revert to the horse and cart.Having got that off my chest, in “The 100” the author, Kass Morgan, and the screen writers have done a great job of making it as believable as possible whilst providing constant edge-of-the-seat suspense and gritty, grim and grimy action. The story is well told, well directed, well acted and with excellent scene setting; I can easily forgive a few dots that are, perhaps, not quite so well connected as they might be.The contrasts between some of the clean and clinical sets and the raggedy Hell that most of the people grub for survival in, shows a skilled attention to detail on the part of the set designers and builders, which the cinematographers utilise very well. One thing I have a problem with, in general, in scenarios where 99% of the population is wiped out, is why on Earth are the survivors all fighting each other? But hey, it’s a story - who wants to see a post apocalyptic tale where everybody realises that our race has seriously screwed up - but there’s loads of stuff left for those who’ve survived - so why don’t we just learn from our mistakes, share, comfort and help each other and live in peace - but where’s the drama in that, eh?Bearing in mind that the “100” are all supposed to be under 18 - and some of them really are (but all of them are young: early 20s) there’s some formidable acting talent amongst the cast, aided and abetted by seasoned pros like Paige Turco, Isaiah Washington, Henry Ian Cusick, Adina Porter and many others. It’s a thoroughly riveting watch; I’ve been through most of it twice and find that there’s much detail that adds to the story that may be missed first time around but that makes sense retrospectively.Good stuff! The tragic reality is that, in the event of a real all-out global nuclear extermination event, those that would be saved by bunkers, space stations or whatever, would likely be the very leaders who nuked us all in the first place - and once the radiation diminished, those very cockroaches would crawl out of the rubble of our world and dust themselves off to do the same foolishness all overagain…

Starts off promising, but becomes too reactionary
This show starts off promising with an intriguing storyline mixed in with some pretty solid ideas. There's plenty of good acting talent in here, both from promising young actors and veterans like Henry Ian Cusick and Isaiah Washington. The series starts well, building up some interesting characters, but then hit its main flaw - everyone just reacting to any situation regardless of continuity to the storyline or character. React. React. React. It soon gets annoying and I'm talking about all the characters, young and old, so it seems an all-round script problem here.Season 1 felt promising, if underwhelming. It tries to make you think the characters are making tough choices, but ultimately fails as there's always an easy cop-out resolution. It flirts with controversy more than tackle it head on. But despite its flaws, it showed enough promise and a fairly interesting cliffhanger ending for me to give season 2 a try and see how things unfold.

Loved this series!
I really enjoyed watching this TV show, i had seen it when it was on TV and decided to buy it.The show is very interesting and dramatic - it is about 100 teenagers who are sent back to earth after living in space due to the earth becoming inhabitable (or so they think).Overall, very good, would recommend for people who enjoy TV shows that are unlike real life!

Worth a whirl.
I agree with all the negative comments but I did enjoy it, silly though it is! It is fast moving so didn't have a chance to get bored. Not sure if I will buy the next series, though. Being old, I think there are better things to watch before I die!

It might be for young adults but its a great story
Glad to finally get this box set.It bucks the trend of US shows that only do region 1 DVDs and good job too.Missed most of the first series so its interesting to see how it came about.A bit too short in my view but more series to watch

I love it
I loved this tv show, so i bought this and have watched it twice all over again and i still love it, the characters are well written and so i feel kind of attached to them, when they hurt, i hurt (yes its cringy but I'm too devoted to this show now). I finished watching series 5 a few months ago and i guess i'm just reminiscing, the storyline is slightly repetitive but sure that's life, everything's repeating itself over and over again. I'd check out the books too if i were you, they're completely different character wise but still great

Better than I expected
This was better than I expected acting and plot wise, there are some gritty scenes in this one hence the rating. It focuses on a group of juvenile offenders sent to earth as guinea pigs to check if radiation levels are low enough to make it habitable, of course there are some unexpected discoveries when they get there, I won't say too much as don't want to spoil it for people! Worth viewing!

Books
Having seen the series was a bit disappointed with the book but may have been due to having seen the film first but wanted to ensure I had followed the film and not missed bits. Would read before seeing film next time
