A decent controller if a little overpriced for the quality and restriction to Fire devices
None of the buttons quite stand up to the quality of the XBox One or Dualshock 4 pads. The sticks in particular feel a bit light and cheap, the face buttons aren't as satisfying to press and the D-Pad is a little uncomfortable due to the wide circle in the middle but works okay for 2D platformers. Overall build quality seems somewhat in line with the Wii U Pro controller if not quite as comfortable to hold, but the presence of analog triggers puts it one point ahead of it in functionality, and they feel smooth to the press almost equaling the XBox One pad. Having said this I wouldn't be unhappy having to use this as an everyday controller as everything necessary is present and good enough.More major gripes would be that it can only be used with Amazon Fire TV devices which puts the price point above what I'd expect to pay for something that isn't for a dedicated gaming device. If it worked with Android phones/tablets or as a generic bluetooth controller it would be more palatable. Also it seems to stay in pairing mode whenever it has batteries in and my Fire TV is unplugged. The 4 LEDs constantly blink in sequence and there doesn't seem to be a way to switch them off aside from removing the batteries. I don't know how much charge this drains but regardless it's still annoying. And the final issue I had is one that I'm not sure whether it's specific to my setup or with the controller/Fire TV Stick in general but the controller seemed to occasionally drop out for a second while in use. This only lasted a moment but happened once every 10-20 minutes or so and I've never had this happen with any other gamepad or console - there's little distance and nothing blocking the connection. So all in all not quite as good as the major first part controllers out there but for a few mobile games on an Android box it'll do a good job, shame that's all it can be used for though.

Amazon is gleefully taking over!
Hmmmm, if you'd have asked me just six months ago about which brand I relate to, trust and consume the most, my answer would be a loud, proud, resounding "Apple". But as of late, I'm more than acutely aware of my subtle but ever growing shift towards the Amazon pipeline. I mean, I've always been a customer, since 2003 my profile reminds me, but since I purchased Fire TV (at the trusted behest of my friend and former Apple genius) our family life has changed (for the better). Amazon is quickly and seamlessly integrated into more and more of what we do, and how we do it. Music, online shopping, Prime membership (next day delivery), On-Demand Movies and TV programmes, Alexa (she's like a welcomed distant cousin), and now gaming. The App store is full of tons of FREE apps including games ranging from £0.00 to £2.99! Hence this order, the Amazon Fire TV Game Controller. We just found Tetris in the app store and the normal remote is taking a family sized beating - all hands on deck squeezing, pointing, Tetrisizing hours of family fun. Amazon Fire TV Game Controller (Compatible with all generations of Fire TV and Fire TV Stick) . We've only been using the Game Controller for a few days, but we're loving it, easy to use, robust and durable. The only downside is that Amazon didn't make Xbox controllers compatible, we could have saved a £39.99.

GOOD PAD BUT LACKS REAL GAMING PURPOSE
Okay as a gamepad this is a good controller, comfertable to hold and well adapted from the xbox controller. It just feels right. However at the same time it's as useless to me as a paper weight. Why? I shall explain.I have the Amazon Fire TV, to my naivety I purchased this gamepad to be able to play games on the fire TV that require a gamepad. The problem however is what game can I play? the fire TV advertises plenty of games on their own interface but upon downloading you get prompted with an error message explaining that the game is not compatible with my device.Yes the problem is the fire TV but the gamepad has a purpose and amazon pretty much have shot themselves in the foot and have made the gamepad quite redundant as it is at the moment.Should You Buy It?YES. If you are happy with what is on offer through the fire TV however personally the Gamepad is overkill for what is available. saying that as an additional controller to use with the fire TV it is GREAT.NO. If like me you enjoy playing Games but are turned off by the fact that many great titles are not available on the fire TV but on mobile alternatives such as the tablets, smart phones etc and dislike any form of lag/delayed responses. I suppose this is where one resorts back to a games console.Overall this is a great addition but it has so much better potential if the fire TV is better updated to host more games.

Low expectations dashed this ain't no ouya pad
This pad is excellent never tried the first model but this one nails it! It has a nice non slip grip which fits well in your hands the sticks are just right not too tight with a very small dead zone. The d pad is the cross type very accurate thin of Nintendo pro pad only slightly larger. Bottom back triggers are nicely curved have smooth travel and no creaking better than the ds4 in my opinion almost as good as my mk 2 xbox one pad. Shoulder strap buttons so often neglected are perfect small and easy to depress along their length with no clicking. The main buttons are smaller and closer together than on ds4 or xbox one but they have good bounce and accurate response. The buttons from the remote such as home back button menu and speak are nicely central on the front face and can be easily reached with the thumb. There is a 3.5mm socket central on the bottom edge so you can listen through buds or cans the sound quality is crisp and volume control is on the triggers when listening to media. Can't vouch for battery life yet but the pad switches itself off a minute or two when inactive it has power management all in all a pad that surpasses the best I've used in parts.
