Sleek design
Brilliant device. Its sleek and compact design is a nice addition to any kitchen.Set up was simple and quick. The sparkling water tastes pleasant. I haven't tried any additional flavours as I like my sparkling water flavourless. The supplied bottle is nice. It is made of plastic with a metal cap that definitely keeps the bubbles. If you like sparkling water, then go ahead and buy this.

Easy and works
Different numbers and duration of presses on the carbonating button delivers fizzy water to your taste. I used to consume lots of plastic bottled water (my preference over still water), this not only saves money, but with glass bottles is better for the planet and sustainability. Recommended if this is your thing.

Gas bottle already fitted and ran out after four days, used once or twice a day
The gas bottled was already fitted which I wasn't expecting but I guess it saves room in the box. The button is a bit stiff and wobbly but it does work. The fit and finish is a bit meh, like it had already been opened and used. But it fizzes

Actually got the v2.0 for the v1.0 price when ordering this - so that was a good start.
The media could not be loaded. Managed to break my original V1.0 (6ft drop onto solid floor, do maybe not its fault)Was trying to work out whether it was work paying nearly double for the v2.0 version and decided it wasn't - so free upgrade a bit of a bonus.Plenty of other reviews covering what the device is like - makes glass carafes of nicely fizzy water, carafes maybe are a bit small, works better if you chill the water first, don't open it immediately, if you want to make sparkling water nothing better out there etc.Usage is you fill the carafe with water and drop it in the bottom section and then push that section back until the carafe is vertical. Then push down the counter-balanced top until your carafe is enclosed. Pull across the lever in the middle to lock the two parts around the bottle. Press button on top until the machine makes the ever-amusing fart-sound. Leave for a bit to let the CO2 dissolve. Swivel lever back and top rises and bottle tilts forward towards you. Cap it and fridge it.Thought it might be useful to cover the differences between the v1 and v2, as the internet didn't seem to know when I googled. Both of them enclose the carafe in a metal vessel when it's being charged. This is pretty sensible as you're pressurising a glass vessel and should anything go bang, you definitely want it to be contained.V1 had an internal metal vessel with both the top and the bottom encased in silver plastic (i.e. when it's closed everything you see is plastic).V2 simply has a metal base (metal cup at the bottom), but the top is still plastic, this time grey rather than silver (easiest way to tell the two models apart). It does look a little nicer to me - metal looks like metal, plastic looks like plastic.V2 has an insert in the bottom of the lower half to hold the carafe parallel to it. Not quite sure what the point is, but maybe if bottle wasn't straight and you slammed down the top, this might explain the reviews complaining of damage on plastic bit that goes down into the water - it doesn't have much clearance on the neck.Other improvement is on the locking mechanism between the two bits of the metal enclosure. V1 seemed to be cast metal, V2 is machined aluminium. V1 'grated' a little bit as you locked it, V2 is as smooth as butter.Anyway. My Conclusion. If you want a machine to make sparkling water, this is the machine to buy (and please remember I've now bought it twice)I paid £87 on prime for this, and got the v2, whilst a confirmed v2 was £150. Now this Amazon item has gone up to £95 whilst sodastream have dropped the confirmed v2 on their site to £120+£4 postage.I'd probably still take a punt buying this.

Works Well
Easy to use. Glass bottle a decent weight so won't break easily if knocked over. I really like not having to recycle loads of plastic bottles. I just use it for sparkling water, I don't use flavours. One point which didn't bother me but might others is when it opens to allow access to the bottle, it is taller than the space under kitchen cabinets, so you need an open area to use it.

Good looking machine and easy to use
With the growing awareness of the accumulation of used plastic throughout the world, we bought this to avoid contributing over 400 additional plastic bottles to the mess.It is a greatly improved machine when compared with the machines available 25 years ago and works with just the press of a button. It really couldn't be better! It arrived on a Sunday by courier , within 24 hours of being ordered :)(probably a bit polluting, but we live in the countryside!!)Many thanks Sodastream.

No more plastic bottles fizzy water on tap.
My daughter bought me one of these for our house in Spain, I like fizzy water but plastic bottles drive me mad, so I now have one here in the Uk, this is so easy to use it seems expensive but the gas lasts a long time, and you can have fizzy water anytime, great for the kids soft drinks, I love it, no more plastic bottles filling the recycling bin. Good value for money and instant fizz on tap.

It's good but fragile
This version of the classic soda stream offers a slightly more premium aesthetic (with the glass bottles) but its overall construction is flimsy. the locking mechanism for the bottle feels like it could break at any point, that is to say when it isn't stuck. Also, the canister cover never really feels like it is on properly leading to potential mishaps when moving the whole device around. For the sale price and with the glass bottles it will do but not at full price or if you want one to last.
