Brilliant Soda Maker
This wee Gadget is absolutely brilliant. After reading some ok reviews by some people regarding this soda stream i have come to the conclusion that those people must be THICK. This little gizmo is so simple to use Fill the bottle to the mark (for best results fill slightly over the line marked on the bottle). To Insert Gas cylinder remove back cover. Tear plastic covering off cylinder then unscrew white plastic top from cylinder. Screw the cylinder up into unit and replace back cover. Insert water bottle up into front of soda stream no need to screw into place just push up then push bottle back into unit. Now this is where people may be getting it wrong. If you like your water really FIZZY press the Grey button the top for 5 two second bursts. Press firmly down don't be scared. You may hear gas escaping perfectly normal don't worry this means its working and you are pressing the button hard enough. Like i said before 5 times 2 second bursts makes perfect fizzy water. Should have bought one of these years ago. My wife loves it as well no more carrying heavy packs of fizzy water home from shopping. I must admit the instructions (Pictures only) may be vague but they are very self explanatory. Anyway very happy with this Soda stream GREAT Purchase. Thank you Amazon

Love it!
It takes a bit of getting used to but once you've sussed it out it works like a dream. It's manual operation which for me is perfect as I didn't want another mains powered kitchen appliance which would add to the cost, especially with rising energy prices.Bear in mind that the 60l gas quote is based on 3 presses which is a pretty flat fizz, 4-5 presses works best so you'll get through the gas quicker than the estimated 60l to about 35-40l. I'm two weeks in and it's still going after making 1-2l a day. Can't say the flavours are very good but you can use any squash or cordial to add flavour once you've fizzed. Another top tip is to use a Brita filter to filter your tap water before you fizz, it just taste's better.I'm also amazed at how it's massively reduced my recycling waste, that alone makes it worth it in my mind.

Excellent sparkling water and reduced plastic waste.
Bought this yesterday as I drink a lot of sparkling water and became bothered by wasting so much plastic. It’s very easy to assemble. As some have said the back is quite flimsy but it holds together fine. My first attempt to fizz was hysterical I had water fountains going everywhere (the picture instructions aren’t the best) but I viewed a brilliant YouTube video and took her tips onboard. I realised I’d not pulled the tab forward before inserting the bottle which secures it in place. Rookie error.Since then I’ve had great success. Top tip was to let the water settle a bit after each blast of gas. I like it very fizzy so do 6 blasts. THEN LEAVE IT for a minute or so to settle before taking it out of the soda stream device. Perfect sparkling water that maintains its fizz. Also bought two empty bottles as part of the deal which I highly recommend as you can have them chilling in the fridge. I’m delighted with it. Wish I’d bought one sooner.

Amazing value for money
I think this is brilliant! Easy to use, yes expensive but in the long run stops buying plastic bottles so saves money an less plastic waste! Also when i used it, it does taste exactly like the water you buy from the shop so im converted! Also the canisters are refillable you just have to find a shop that refills them... i think argos do but i need to find out for sure... in the long run you save money though as this is going to be used alot!Seriously invest in it if you like sparkling water its so easy to use! Everything clips in or screws in really easy to... by this i mean the cannister and water bottle you put in it to make the water fizzy 😊

Great fizz as good as shop bought but without the extra plastic waste.
I love my soda stream maker, I need to give it a few more presses than it recommends on the button, but a cylinder of gas still lasts a month and I probably make about 1.5 litres of sparking water a day. The flavour bottles I bought were lemonade and diet cola from Lakeland as that was the only place I could find them and they have lasted well as well, but the best is just to put in a slice of fresh lemon and that works a treat really bubbly and refreshing and because you can get 0.5l bottles it means that my sparkling water is always sparkling as I just make it as and when I want to drink it, so there's no waste and no plastic bottles. You can even subscribe to get gas bottles delivered and returned and so reduce your costs through the year. Very pleased with this as a way to cut down on our plastic bottle useage, our recycling bin is now taking weeks to fill.

Excellent! Very happy with m’bubbles.
Love, love, love it!Makes excellent sparkly water. I press the button 5 times, in quick succession. The water remains fizzy for a good while...even overnight if left in the bottle. If you want more or less fizzy, then playing around with the fizz-button will get you your perfect bubble.Make sure you don’t fill the bottle above the line otherwise you’ll get water everywhere.I use my Sodastream on average twice a day and the cyclinder has lasted me seven weeks. When I registered it with Sodastream I got a replacement cyclinder for £12, with £10 refund when I return the empty one!Easy to replace using Click and Collect, so no Post Office hassles. I am sure there are other places to replace them, but this is the easiest for me.I really am pleased with it and the fact I’m using less plastic than with bottles is a good feelings. Small actions make a difference.Aaaanyway, I really recommend it.Oh! I haven’t used syrups, but have used Ribena which is delish!

It does what it says!
I do not usually provide reviews but have decided to in this instance because of the hugely variable reviews I read many of which were downright dismissive of the product and inclined to put me off purchasing it.i did, and am perefectly happy with it. I do not have to wade through litres of plastic bottles which is a big plus. I have not used SodaStream flavours so have not rated these. When i want flavour I use cordials which work fine. In a high volume (big family) environment I accept that continuous delivery may be an issue.I can only assume that negative reviews by other parties are because they have difficulties adhering to the instrucions given. I use three shots per bottle which provides me with adequate fizz even when this is not consumed straight away. Glad I purchased!

Unreliable operation....maybe (updated)
The unit initially worked well. It's simple enough to install a gas bottle and the water bottle used for gassing just clips into place. Pressing the gas button gives a good blast of gass but right from the start there was a little bit of water leakage from the machine. Nothing major, and the instructions did explain that a little bit of leakage was to be expected. It's been working reasonably well and giving nicely gassed water, but suddenly and for no apparent reason it's now completely stopped gassing the water. It would appear that the bottle isn't sealing into the machine. I can't tell if it's the grippers that clamp the next of the bottle or the rubber washer. Either way - for a £70 spend you'd expect to get more than just a few months out of the product. We had purchased a gas replacement subscription. But I'm not going to buy another machine, so unless I can get it replaced or repaired by either Amazon or Sodastream, then I'll be cancelling the gass subscription and giving it up as a bad job.Shame, because so far we must have saved close to a hundred plastic bottles that we would have purchased from the supermarket.UPDATE: Amazon were kind enough to replace the item. The new one, although apparently the same, is definitely behaving differently. Maybe our first unit was not working properly all along, or maybe Sodastream have fixed something. The new unit grips the neck of the bottle properly, as the original one used to do, but I've noticed that when filling there is a much stronger burst of gas delivered and much less leaking of gas. Also, if one presses and holds the gas injector button, after a few seconds there seems to be a safety release happening. What sounds like a valve seems to be opening to release the excess gas. Maybe this is new. Maybe it's just the new unit's seal allowing a more controlled escape and the unit just sounds differently. Obviously I don't do this a lot, but did it just to check the new unit's behaviour. So far, the new unit seems to be working much better than the original ever did. Time will tell. I've upgraded the review to three stars on the basis of giving Sodastream a second change.
