Fantastic and no Chinese Plastic
It's bigger than I expected and made of solid Chinesium metal. It absolutely does the job and doubles as a toaster too as you can see from my photos.I've spent this week recovering a completely dead mobility scooter battery. The two 12v units were so dead that they would not even accept current at 30v. Just a tiny trickle of 30mA but that kept climbing. After some hours the 12v batterys were giving out 6v. I kept going. I also connected an Amazon desulficator.Thankfully they both deliver over 12v and although drop to 8v on test they are making it glow nice and bright. The scooter itself is still in a bit of a mood having not had power for 5 years, it's flashing the spanner at me.To test a 12v battery properly you've got to put a decent load on it and check the voltage whilst doing that. This wonder of Chinese technology does exactly that and you don't even need a Bluetooth app (joke, it's just a resistor, a gauge and some jump leads).

Cheap but works
OK so it does look a little cheap - but it is 1/2 half of very similar products on this site - and you can always connect your expensive voltmeter in parallel for a better reading. You are basically paying for the load resistor (in the heatsink you see) to load the car battery. It is very useful to take with you if you need to replace a failed battery under warranty and they try to "wiggle out" by testing it in such a way (i.e. not loaded) to say it is working perfectly! I would take the voltmeter too just in case.In my case - this device helped replace a battery so it is worth it (cheaper then a battery); it would not be worth paying 2x for a better one as that would be almost the price of a new battery thus why bother - might as well buy the new battery and be done with it.

A well priced discharge tester.
The Silverline 282625 Battery and Charging System Tester 6 V and 12 V works exactly as expected. Price is great. Readings on gauge are easy to read and understand. Leads get a tiny bit hot, but that is to be expected. I'm more used to the higher rated units, but this one does the same job. Higher rated units literally cause a faulty cell to boil like a kettle. This is more manageable way to diagnose a faulty lead acid battery cell.

Exceptional battery testing tool
Exceptional battery testing tool, much more eloquent than the toy testers used by the RAC. Well, at least those from the RAC are unqualified. They are only trained to read some values, they have no idea what those values mean, but they are "specialists". So if you want to know if the battery is really good, this tool is very good

Great Car Battery Tester
This product is ideal for me, it is an old school method of testing battery performance and replicates a test we used to do when i worked in a garage 30 years ago.Basically its a 100amp resister with a built in volt meter. The resister is operated on by the switch for a maximum of 10 seconds, whilst monitoring the battery performance from the volt meter allowing you to determine if the battery is ok or not.My son in law has also used this device you check his battery, works great. It will certainly tell you if your battery is in need of replacement. You must ensure the battery is fully charged before the test.

Cheap and cheerful but it seems to work
The item is very cheap construction and feels very cheap and tinny and mine arrived with a cracked screen but it does work to test your battery voltage and also crank voltage drop and alternator charge so it does what it says on the tin so for me that is the main thing..It is basically a large multimeter with a large metal resistance wire for crank drop testing.

Made my troubleshooting battery charging a breeze
Very rugged and simple tool that does the job it is designed for perfectly: Shows the voltage of the battery, static and under load (the switch brings a resistance circuit into play that simulates running the starter motor) showing an acceptable range for a given load.I was able to determine that my solar panel was overcharging the battery, and that I needed a solar controller to protect it.Indispensable kit for troubleshooting battery problems!

OK for occasional use
Cheap and nasty, typical Chinese build quality. However, to be fair it's an amazing price and it works well enough to determine if the battery or charging system has a problem.Only really suited if you need to check your batteries a couple of times a year. Not suitable for every day use - so no good as a tradesman too.
