good initially, phone charging cable stopped working after a while
Bought this a couple of years ago, when we had a problem with a car battery (Fiat 500) and it works very well, so simple even my daughter was happy to use it.Now we mainly use it as a charging block, but the firewire connection has stopped working

Useful in a pinch
I have an electrical fault on my car which drains the battery when it's not being used for a week. This jump starter is helping me to keep going while I pin down the problem, saving me an expensive auto electrician having to painstakingly diagnose the problem. To that end it has paid for itself already. It works, jump starting my car quite frequently. My car is a 1.8 L petrol Honda Civic 06 Plate. It also works for charging my phone, which is brilliant. I can get several jump starts out of a single charge. Charging my phone seems to discharge it almost completely (according to the LED indicators), but it still seems to continue charging so I don't know how much is actually left in the power pack. (My phone is a Samsung Galaxy A40, 3100 mAh battery.)Obviously having the jump starting circuitry means it's not as compact as other power banks, but it's still small enough to put in a rucksack for a day out when we are on holiday.I love how it charges from a USB-C cable. This is the same cable as my phone, so I only need to take 1 cable. The first charger had a problem with the 3-ended USB cable in which the Lightning / Apple connector got very hot. The seller dutifully sent out another entire power pack which solved the problem. On the one hand that annoys me because the product function and safety checks shouldn't be left to the customer, but the fact that I got another charger for free means I can't complain too much. Strange world/strange business model - just make sure that it works and is safe before the returns window closes! The company was very easy to deal with though, so I can't fault them there.

What every motorist should have
I have a Mazda 6, 2.5l ,Petrol Engine. Like every motorist I was eventually caught out by a flat battery. I have a sensitive or faulty alarm and sometimes in the early hours of the morning the sound of car alarm will awaken me. I search for my keys, switch off the alarm and reset. On this occasion I must have pressed the boot release switch in my semi conscious state. My friend came to the rescue as with the boot light, on for hours , drained my battery. My friend said that her previous car had battery problems and had bought a portable battery charger.Connect, switch on, start. Brilliant. I looked at her charger somewhat resembling a ghost busters back pack and thought I needed one for piece of mind. £75 she told me. I looked through Amazon for a similar model and was amazed to see such small car battery starters that were not much bigger than a mobile phone. Surely not I thought and continued to read the reviews. Mostly positive I decided to buy one. I bought the more powerful model as I have a 2.5 engine.Well, today my battery was flat. I was happy as I could try out my new gadget and only after a week of buying it!!I connected the battery as instructed but the green light never went solid so I connected the black clamp to negative of the battery, red clamp to positive of battery THEN, I connected clamp lead to my new car battery starter and the solid green light appeared. FIRST time of starting my car came back to life.I was amazed, gobsmacked that this little device could literally be a life saver in extreme cases, had worked without fuss. Once a sceptic but proof is in the pudding and I think every car driver should have one. Asking strangers, especially ladies alone is dangerous but the process will take no more than 2 minutes and have you on your way.In my opinion it is a essential piece of kit for any motorist. I purchased one for my parents and for my daughter.

Needs longer lead for Start/Stop engines but otherwise a great piece of kit
I bought this to get my small diesel car going after the battery went flat; it didn’t work. I think it was because the battery was fully discharged and sulphated because even jumping it from a new 3.5L diesel car didn’t work either so this wee pack had no chance. It would only crank the engine briefly and then all I got was a rapid clicking. A borrowed tester showed the battery was irrecoverable and I had to buy a new one. Also, the leads are too short for a Start/Stop car, where the negative battery terminal mustn’t be used. The supplied leads will only just fit across a standard battery, meaning I had to make up a suitable extension lead to reach the earth strap on the engine mount.I’m keeping it though to charge my iPad/phone etc.EDITED TO ADD:I'm pleased to say that I received an unprompted message from the seller expressing concern at my disappointment with the jump starter. They very generously offered to send me a much more powerful unit, capable of starting engines up to 9L petrol or 8L diesel, completely free of charge and I didn't need to return the original one. They sent me the Arteck JS18 2000A pack which worked a treat. I think it could probably start a tank! It's of excellent build quality and really nicely packaged in its dedicated case. It's reassuring to find that there are sellers like this who genuinely care about customer satisfaction and will go out of their way to ensure you are happy. By far the best customer service I have ever found on Amazon. Upgraded rating from 3 stars to 5.
