Does this phone work in the UK? I see no warranty is provided by the seller

The phone will work fine in the UK and anywhere in the world for that matter. But because it is a dual sim version (not intended for the Western market) it will be a 'grey' import and will not come with an international warranty. Maybe the seller will offer a 30 day exchange policy if the phone develops a fault within that time. If it is fine after 30 days it is unlikely to give trouble over time.

So does being dual sim mean you can't put an sd memory card in? i seem to recall the standard version uses one drawer for sim/sd cards

Correct. If using 2 sim cards then you cannot have a SD card as well. And by the way: One SIM card can be on 3G/4G while the other then must be on 2G (you can switch between which card uses which bands).
