This is the second yogalates DVD that I have bought in this series and I am a big fan.It is useful to know before you get this DVD that you will need some small hand weights (or baked beans tins???!!), a bolster or block may also be required but you can survive with a cushion! As previously mentioned, this workout is split into sections. The first sections focuses on the upper body (arms and abdominal muscles), the second section works on legs, the third section features sun salutations and finally a relaxation session. If you can commit to doing this DVD two to three times a week you will definitely see changes in your body. I have been doing it regularly for two to three weeks now and my core muscles and arm muscles are noticeably more defined. I thought it would take ages to see changes like this so I'm really pleased. I have also noticed since starting this workout regime that whenever I go out on my bike or go for a swim now my endurance has really improved.I have previously had yoga lessons and I think without this I would find some parts of this DVD difficult, however, the beginner is catered for as modifications are shown by the lady on the left! It is worth becoming familiar with basic poses like plank, downward dog, warrior I&II etc to get the most out of the DVD. Don't let this put you off, however, but you will need to persist with the DVD and not be tempted to give up when some of the poses get a little err...intense!Overall, I really recommend this DVD. Louise Solomon's DVDs are the reason I started yoga in the first place and are much cheaper than a class now I'm a student. Plus they make me feel happier, stronger and healthier. Go for it!

a beginner's dvd
I had a hysterectomy about 2 years ago and feel I'm too young to let myself "go".At 40 years of age I havent done much exercise since my kids were young and since my operation I feel my core is no longer.I struggle to turn over in bed...I need a pillow between my knees to sleep otherwise my back aches....I struggle to pull myself up from sitting or out the bath.I have decided enough is enough and I need to strengthen my middle.I decided on this as this most suits my needs.I've always been aware that I have pretty poor posture and if I could loose some weight too that would be great!I try to do a section every day and if I dont manage that,I try to do at least 2 sections every other day. This is more than whats recommended. Its quite a long DVD to do all in one go.I havent been doing it too long - but already I feel more aware of my posture and how I'm sitting.I feel more aware of my middle area. When I first started it I thought this is a bit slow and do I need something a bit more upbeat but I'm hot and breathless after doing it- which is what I'm led to believe exercise (particulaly gentle) needs to be.I havent been going long enough to loose any weight or see any massive changes - but I do know already I have a far better sense of well-being.I feel "really well" when I finished it.As a complete beginner I was completely overwhelmed and daunted by the choice of DVD's out there and I feel I've made the right decision.

Great for beginners
Easy to follow and great for beginners to Pilates. I found the yoga positions in the 3rd section a little difficult to follow first time as I don't know the names of the positions & they require being upside down etc so hard to see the screen (although I was doing it with a 3yr old & 11 month old running around me too!) so I watched them first then went back & did them once I got it. I used to do intermediate Pilates before my second child was born and found it a bit too easy for me but great for getting me back into shape after baby. I combine this DVD and 'pilates for dummies' (also bought from Amazon) for a better workout & find the latter better for those who have done Pilates before as it's a bit more fast paced. Although I do like the added yoga on this one & I also liked that I didn't break into a sweat with this one so could do it before preschool pick-up (because ideally you wouldn't do it with a 3 year old running around as you do it as it's meant to be relaxing!!!) but I still felt it the next day in my core & thighs.

The best yoga/pilates
I have to say I find Louis Solomon the best teacher I have come across in yoga/pilates. I have all 7 of her dvd,s and you can do just one 15-30 min workout or carry on to do up to three with most of them. Her voice is wonderfully soothing and I find once you have watched the dvd once you can continue with the workouts by just listening to her instructions. They are precise and structured and continual, you will not loose your way but can always take a peak if you are not sure of the position! She also instructs you continually when to breathe / inhale and exhale, this is Very Important in yoga and so many instructors do not tell you which breath to take with which movement. I have many dvds and can honestly say that in 7 years of doing yoga and pilates she is the best instructor, which is why I have all her dvds, secondly if you like just yoga , Ursuls Karvens power yoga runs well along side these dvds to do once a week or more. 10 out of 10 to Louis though.Everyone I have suggested these dvd,s to have loved them as well. Do 15 ,30 mins or more most days and together with a reasonably healthy (after all we all need treats this is 2011!))controlled low fat diet you will see a difference after a couple of months. We all have, especially in our abs!

Not as good as others
This DVD is not as good as others, you have to use weights in one bit and is not what I wanted. I do like the 3rd workout which is the energy workout.
