Sony Alpha SAL35F18 A-mount Wide Angle Lens (Black)

Being an amateur photographer I decided to buy my first prime lens and went for the 35mm f1.8 (I have a A65, crop factor 1.5x).I'm very happy that I did! This is an EXCELENT lens, very, very, very sharp and fast. And is clearly unexpensive, specially when you consider it's twing sister with f1.4.It doesn't feel cheap to touch or operate, has a sharp and fast autofocus (a little bit louder than I'd expect though), all in all, a great buy. Go for it if you can't afford the f1.4 35mm lens like me.

Really pleased with this lens. Lightweight, fast,quick focus and clear images.Copes really well in poor light. Easy to achieve small depth of field.Particularly good in portrait and reasonably close work although competent at landscape.Although it is plastictky it seems strong enough for purpose - I have not been put off by this and I certainly enjoy having such a light lens to carry. Would recommend this lens as a valuable addition to their camera equipment

The Sony Alpha range is not over-burdened with Prime lenses in the same way that the MFT format is but there are some gems in there and this is one of them.Its positioned in the Sony Alpha budget range but should not be overlooked due to that. I have used this on my Sony Alpha A65 and it's a great performer. It becomes an effective 50mm on a cropped sensor which is great for a number of scenarios including candid family shots, street photography and even some landscape work. The colour rendition is great and the focusing speed is pretty good.Also, it comes with a lens hood - are you listening Olympus?!!! :)

Lightweight, pin sharp. Everything I hoped for and more. This lens is excellent value and lives up to expectation.The images from it have super definition. I could not want more and paying many times more for a similar lens would not increase my satisfaction. Top product !!

Excellent lens for such a low price, sharp lens from 2.2 onwards, bit soft wide open, this is excellent value for money, if you have a Sony SLR/SLT this is a must have lens especially for portraits, but also close up work as it has a very short focussing distance.

I bought this as my first prime lens for my A65. I'm very impressed, compared to the 18-55 kit lens the image quality is a big improvement. It works really well in low light situations as well, where before I would have had to use flash.I was debating between this and the 50mm prime but I'm certain I made the right decision as 50mm would be too much for most indoor shots.Since buying it, I've hardly taken it off.

I spotted this lens in a camera mag review & it had a very good write up. It is very well made - the plastic construction of the body is of good quality & certainly not 'plasticky'. The lens is sharp & the close up range very good & all at a very good price.

This is a decent, good value lens. Lightweight and better built than some reviewers suggest. It is a first-rate lens in perfect lighting but can be very unforgiving at other times. The minutest error in focussing, or the slightest movement at slow speeds/wide apertures is enough to ruin a shot and make it not just 'soft' but actually out of focus, despite what the green light indicates. I usually prefer to use spot-focussing but with this lens I find the 'zone' focus setting gives more consistent results. The old adage about using a shutter speed at least as fast as the focal length of the lens you are using certainly applies to this lens. Keep that in mind and you should be okay!
