SpheroOllie: App-Enabled Robot

Got this on a lightning deal for a steal. It was a bit hard assembling the unit. We had to try and figure out the right way to connect the outer hubs and wheels. Took a bit of pulling and pushing but eventually managed. Charge it up via the supplied cable. Download the Ollie app and away you go. Flashing lights and sounds! It's very entertaining and my small nephews were amazed by it. Although I had to move the 2 year old who kept trying to grab it as it was spinning around the room lol. You do need quite a large floor space to play with it properly. Might be better outside but haven't tried yet. Maybe in the warmer months! You can buy different wheels/hubs to change into for use on different terrains.

Bought for my son through Amazon warehouse. The product feels sturdy and well made, the controller app was easy to find on Google Play store and once installed a quick charge of the Ollie unit and it was up and running. The Ollie itself is louder when running than I would have thought, and takes some getting used to the interface to allow you to play. A few minute of orientation though and you soon get the hang of which is forward and back. All being well he will enjoy it for Christmas

Was an xmas present for my daughter. She loved it. Great fun, good charge, app is straightforward. Looking forward to trying out stunts , possibly with some new wheels (you can apparently get extra treads for more stunt work).Even considering the bb8 now after seeing this in action. Once the price drops.My daugher was happy, and thats the main reason its got 5 stars,.

Sturdy definitely and really fun to tease my dog with. Would be even better if it was easier to control and worked on grass. It is also a little expensive for what it is, do not buy if you don't have a nearby stretch of ground that is not grass. Still very fun to muck about with.

Simply put, bought for 7 year old daughter as she is into gadgets for part of her Christmas, and she loves it, plays with this more than any other present, and to be honest, I've had my fair share of playing with it, initially takes a little learning curve to master the controls from the iPhone, but can this thing move!!!!! The good points about this item is, its long battery life, she has been playing with it in the hall now on and off for over an hour and its still going strong, strong and durable so wont break easily like most electronic toys, can easily be taken outside on road surfaces etc, colour changing light effects, she loves that bit, and because I got this for nearly half the price of the other colours being sold on Amazon.

Given it a one star, very disappointed as the product will not work with any of the devices that we have which are Galaxy S2, S3 mini and Note3 10.1 tablet. Be very careful to ensure that your Android is 4.4.2+ and you have Bluetooth 4. I thought I had checked carefully enough, but I had not so it was very disappointing. The Sphero website could be much clearer that it is.I have changed this review from my original posting, hoping to find a solution but most likely is returning this item to Amazon. The S3 mini states it is Android 4.4.2 but still cannot download the app.

Exceptional r/c toy. App control and programmable. Long lasting on one charge. The grandchildren love it. Beware of third party hub extras and READ THE SMALL PRINT BEFORE BUYING HUBS. Ollie is excellent and I wish I had bought the Sphero tyres.

Excelente producto, construcción de material muy resistente, muy rápido, divertido e inductivo. El mejor regalo para los pequeños y no tan pequeños.

Excelente pieza de tecnología, robusto desde el punto de vista físico, es verdad que es bastante rápido y por ello al principio puede ser un poco difícil controlarlo. La app Sphero Edu ofrece opciones muy útiles para programarlo en un entorno a modo de bloques como scratch o si lo prefieres escribiendo el código en JavaScript, así que te diviertes, te hace pensar y programar sus acciones, etc.¿Que si es para un peque (menor de edad)? solo el conducirlo es emocionante así que desde el punto de vista de diversión si que lo es. Si hablamos de programarlo por supuesto que también, me encanta la idea, pero si opino que hay que acompañarlos y orientarlos durante el proceso de aprendizaje, hacerlo divertido, no quisiéramos causar una reacción adversa a la programación, este tema es y será cada vez más común a lo largo de sus vidas.Saludos!

OMG..! Folks this is an amazing toy for grown-ups..! It’s very fast & it does amazing things once you’ve mastered the controls, which are IMO very tricky. But once you’re over that stage, WOW..! 14MPH (22.5 KMH) is pretty darn fast for a small robot..! I highly recommend this.
