Microsoft H3S-00001 Sculpt Comfort Mouse, Retail Packaging - Black

I've had this mouse for over 4 years now and it still ranks as one of my most favourite and best purchases ever. When reading this review please bear in mind that the product specs may have changed in the intervening years. Feel: The mouse glides nicely over most surfaces with just the right amount of friction and very little noise. Weight: The weighting it great. The mouse feels solid but isn't too heavy Comfort: The size and shape of the mouse is perfect for my average size man hands. I'd tried a couple of other portable mice and found them to be too small and gave me cramp after a couple of hours use. This mouse by contrast has been nothing but comfortable since day 1. Durability: I have pampered my mouse. I bought a case for it not long after purchase to protect it when travelling. It should be noted that the mouse picks up very little dirt from either the desk or my hand. Most mice seem to develop a build up of grime around the glide pads. For some reason this mouse doesn't. After 4 years of near daily use it still looks brand new and I have unusually hot and sweaty hands. Connectivity: It's been brilliant on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and now 10. I've also used it on various Linux distros without any problems. Mouse Functions: The accuracy, left/right buttons and scroll wheel all feel great. The scrolling action is solid and quiet with a definite notch but light enough for fast scrolling. The customisable windows button is great and the vibration feedback is a nice addition. Had my eyes on this mouse for months since I first came across it in an electronic chain. I loved the quiet, subdued click (I'd describe the sound as "velvety" ... if this makes any sense to you), the comfortable shape, the hefty weight and the nice, glossy finish. As I own a Mac and the matching Apple mice, I passed on it at the time, however, thinking that a mouse designed for the competing operating system could never provide more functionality to me. Now my Apple mouse's trackball recently jumped the shark and I was on the peripheral market once again. I ordered the Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse and I love it. Apart from the blue Windows button on the left side, that doesn't do anything, all the other clicks have remained exactly the same (eg clicking the tracking wheel still brings me into Mission Control etc). The mouse is so much more user-friendly and comfortable than my Apple Mighty Mouse (USB only and "blessed" with the constantly dying trackball) or my Apple Magic Mouse (Bluetooth, but too flat to feel good). Under OS X Yosemite you can still customize left click, right click, scroll direction, etc in the Mouse menu in the settings. I have read somewhere that you could also download a third party app that allows you to give a function to the blue Windows button. For the last couple years I had been using my USB Apple Mighty Mouse (because the Bluetooth Magic Mouse is so flat and uncomfortable on my wrists) and hence was worried if having a Bluetooth mouse would drain my Macbook's battery. Absolutely not! I do not notice ANY decrease in battery life while using the mouse. I definitely recommend it and will probably purchase a second one, in case this one gets discontinued.

I have this mouse connected, via bluetooth, to a Surface Pro 3. The connection is stable and has never dropped out over the last month and the included batteries are still going strong. No complaints there. It feels nice in my hand although I'm not too keen on the glossy black top, which looks a bit cheap to me compared to the Arc mouse and also attracts palm/finger prints. The rubber sides provide good grip and the BlueTrack sensor works consistently well on every surface I've tried - leather sofa, pad of paper, a black table etc. The click wheel feels like any other click wheel - i.e. a little bit loose between clicks, and stiff to push left and right (not that I ever do that). I like the left windows button and it's very configurable via the Mouse and Keyboard Centre software - you can assign it macros or shortcuts etc. I've yet to find a good use of it yet but it's great that the button is there. You can use your thumb to swipe up or down on the button for different behaviours, or click it. The only downside is that your thumb occasionally brushes against it, executing whatever action was assigned...I had swipe down to "show desktop", which happened when I wanted it to...but also several times by accident when I just put my hand over the mouse.

3 Years and still going strong! One of the best bluetooth mice out there. The batteries last for months, the laser is able to work on pretty much any surface and after quite a few painful falls, it is still good as new. Even though it comes with a side windows button that supports some fancy swipe gestures and the scroll wheel can work side ways as well, I haven't really been using these features. The software that can be downloaded from the Microsoft store has many customizing options though. So far I have never felt any discomfort while using it, no matter how many hours I spend a day on my pc. I would say it is a safe choice for anybody wanting a good quality bluetooth mouse, no comparison to some third party £20 ones I have tried before. Only downside is that i t can only remember a connection on one device at a time, so you can skip it if you plan on using it with multiple devices.

I have had this mouse for 7 years and has been excellent! Very comfortable to use and battery lasts a very long time. The windows button on the side allows gestures which make internet browsing easier as you can go forward or back by swiping up and down. I've read reviews on here saying they accidentally swipe it but this has never happened to me. Maybe they're holding it wrong? The connection is quick and easy and will be up and running on any PC in seconds. Never has it lost connection. It has a power saving feature that if your not using the mouse for a while you just have to move it a little to wake it up. Again this is great and let's the battery last longer, people on here think it's a connection problem but it's a power saving feature. I'd recommend this mouse!

Fantastic bit of kit. Having spent a lot on mice over the years (was and and still am an avid gamer) I always had my reservations about wireless mice. There was always some sort of delay, batteries would last about a week and as with most things, whether the price is high or low you can never the quality of something without actually getting to use it. Having a wired mouse at work was starting to become a pain with the wire trailing over the desk (I hate wires getting caught so tend to have the slack on the desk) so decided to take the plunge. With it being Microsoft too, what could go wrong? I have medium sized hands and it fits well. You can grip the mouse easily and it's very accurate. I can still notice a very small amount of delay but for work related stuff it's not much of an issue. Batteries are easy to get to and replace if needs be. Weight is nice, not too heavy yet not light either.

I've got to be honest, I really thought Microsoft hardware was supposed to have a good reputation, and have owned Microsoft products in the past, without issues. But this mouse, both design-wise and functionally is a complete disaster. I have given it one star but this is only because Amazon won't let me submit this review without giving a star rating. It is not one star - at most it is a 0.5. Firstly - the design. It's easy enough to actually hold, and fits in the hand well. The two buttons are well placed for the index finger and middle finger to rest on. However, on the side of the device, there is a blue "Windows" button, which if clicked brings up the Start menu. This is fair enough, though I rarely used it. BUT, in a web browser, or Windows Explorer, you can "swipe it" to move forward and backward. Sounds like a cool feature but in reality means you are quite often going "back" on a web page, or reloading it when you didn't mean to; and if you're entering any kind of text in a field, this, then, is of course lost. It is most frustrating and because of the design, your thumb is perfectly located to keep hitting it by accident. Secondly, and MOST importantly, this mouse has a propensity of simply ceasing to function! It's like it loses the connection to the PC. You're using your laptop as normal, and suddenly you realise the mouse cursor isn't moving as you would expect. It freezes for an indeterminate amount of time. This happens regularly, multiple times per day!!! I have two options when this happens -- either to wait (sometimes I will shake the mouse across the desk for anywhere up to 10-15 seconds, until it starts responding again, OR I can turn it off and then on again. Then it starts working again. This mouse works over Bluetooth, which is half the reason I chose it because then I wouldn't have to take up one of my USB ports with one of those little wireless adapters. But this mouse is SO unreliable as to be INFURIATING to use. I have tried everything I can think of to fix this - reinstalling drivers, windows itself....at one point I thought it might be the batteries so I changed them for new ones but that did not help, and this problem is completely un-reproducable at will, but will happen anywhere between 2 and 10 times per day easily. I only purchased this in February of 2019, and in March of 2020 I have managed to convince my manager to allow me to buy a new mouse. I have chosen a Logitech with the little USB adapter since they are far more reliable. I cannot wait to stop using this mouse! ** DO NOT BUY **

I have a surface tablet which I set up on my desk, and the track pad isn't as efficient as a mouse. However, the surface only has one USB port, so these wireless mice with the USB adapter wasn't quite good enough. Hence I bought a Bluetooth mouse. This one in particular is great. It is a little bit pricey, but it's worth every penny! The mouse itself has a right click and a left click, as well as a scroll wheel, with 4-way movement. Although the 4 way movement doesn't always work (It wont seem to let me go side to side in excel), it does work most of the time, such as in the internet browser and when viewing pictures. Additional to this is the big blue windows button. When I bought it I thought it just switched between the start screen and the last used screen. However, it is also a touch-bar. What this means is that you can swipe up the button and it will flick between recent windows, or if you swipe down it brings up the list of all applications in use. It connected and worked ridiculously quickly. My cursor was moving about even before the drivers had finished installing! It was literally a matter of seconds between turning on and it actually working. And best of all, it doesn't require any dongles of any kind! (Unless your computer isn't Bluetooth enabled) It even connected to my android mobile phone! The mouse is very comfortable and works very well. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to waste their USB slots on wireless mice! It also works great with Windows 8, but is also backward compatible.

Por ahora funciona genial, me encanta el diseño y el tacto ultrapulido, el tamaño es el normal, no es ni de los grandes ni demasiado pequeño, aunque puede que para manos grandes les resulte algo pequeño. El botón azul lateral de Windows hace la función de botón de inicio de Windows. Esta superficie del botón es táctil y si deslizas el dedo pulgar hacia arriba o hacia abajo hace la función de Atrás y Adelante típicos de los botones de otros ratones, pero si se instala un programa oficial de Microsoft para el mouse se puede configurar para que haga cualquier función que tu quieras, incluso se puede configurar una macro para que haga una combinación de teclas o una cadena de teclas una detrás de otra. Cuando se usa el deslizador táctil el ratón vibra, así sabes que has hecho esa acción, muy útil porque acostumbrado a botones físicos en los que sientes y oyes el clic, aquí te vibra y sabes que ha funcionado. Funciona con 2 pilas AA, eso es genial porque así se pueden usar pilas recargables y te olvidas de baterías que cuando se mueren no habría manera de encontrar un repuesto. La rueda central esta muy bien, la típica que va por saltos y tiene clic central y moverla a la izquierda o derecha para desplazamientos laterales en webs. Me gusta que el clic central con la rueda no sea muy duro, de esta manera se puede presionar y mover el raton a la vez sin dificultad. Lo escogí porque funciona por bluetooth, (que no trae ningun receptor bluetooth con el ratón y hay que tener o comprar a parte) de esta manera, tengo los auriculares, el teclado y el ratón bluetooth unificados con un solo receptor bluetooth y solo me ocupan un solo usb, y a parte puedo usarlo también cuando me voy con la surface pro 4 y no tengo que conectar ningun usb para que funcione ya que ya trae bluetooth de serie como cualquier tablet o portatil. Por ahora todo funciona genial, aunque normalmente siempre he tenido malas experiencias con los mouse microsoft (como es el caso del sculpt ergonomic que la pestaña para encenderlo o apagarlo dejó de funcionar un mes después de la compra y otros mas antiguos microsoft que el clic izquierdo o derecho dejaban de funcionar). Actualizaré la opinión con el tiempo para ver si sigue igual de bien o no. Lo que sí he notado a diferencia de otros ratones inalámbricos que no son bluetooth, es que éste no mueve el cursor de manera tan suave, parece como si tuviera menos puntos de resolución el lector, no es molesto, pero si cambias a un ratón de cable o uno inalámbrico normal entonces es cuando notas que éste no va tan fino en pantalla.

I recently replaced my first Sculpt Comfort Mouse which I originally bought in 2014. The size is perfect, and the design, which replaces side buttons with an ergonomic side touch sensor that you swipe up or down, is genius.

Absolument parfait, utilisable sur n'importe quelle surface, les boutons sont entièrement configurable et l'appairage en Bluetooth se fait très rapidement. Un seul petit bémol, l'utilisation de deux piles en font un produit plus lourd que les autres souris Microsoft.

Da anni utilizzo questo mouse sia per lavoro che a casa e sono soddisfattissimo. Veloce e preciso non ha mai dato problemi. A distanza di anni il tasto sinistro cede e salta qualche click, ma per il resto prodotto molto valido. Ottimo anche per chi ha le mani grandi, dopo una giornata di utilizzo non causa indolenzimenti. Unica pecca il pulsante Microsoft che se sfiorato quando si impugna il mouse, manda indietro di una operazione la finestra attiva sul computer, decisamente fastidioso.

Ich war schon länger auf der Suche nach einer geeigneten Maus für mein Tablet. Die Kernaufgaben liegen dabei in Microsoft Office, etwas Surferei und kleineren Spielen, bei denen sich eine Maus besser eignet, als das Touch- Display. Wichtig war mir bei dieser Entscheidung außerdem, dass ich keinen Dongle benötige- die Maus soll schnurlos sein, aber keinen USB Port belegen. Es sollte also eine Bluetooth Maus werden. Da kamen natürlich genug Modelle in die engere Auswahl, aber ich suchte noch das gewisse Extra. So blieben zum Schluss noch zwei Modelle auf der Liste, beide von Microsoft. Dies war allerdings Zufall, da es die einzigen beiden waren, die sich innovativ abhoben. Die Microsoft Sculpt Touch Mouse musste dann aber doch der Sculpt Comfort Mouse weichen, da die Idee mit dem Touch Scrollrad zwar nett ist, mir das Mausrad aber zu wichtig ist, als das ich da möglicher Weise Einschränkungen riskiere. Die Verpackung bereitete mir zunächst einen Schreck, aber entgegen meiner ersten Erwartung war im Karton doch keine Plister- Schweißverpackung. Hat man den Karton geöffnet, lässt sich die Maus samt mitgelieferter Batterien problemlos herausnehmen. Nimmt man die obere Klappe der Maus ab, gelangt man zum Batteriefach. Zu meinem Ärgernis gibt es dieses Modell nur in glänzendem schwarz. Der Trend gefällt mir überhaupt nicht. Bei dem kleineren Modell der Xbox360 habe ich diese sogar ohne Festplatte bestellt, da diese Modelle matt waren, die Festplatte bestellte ich gesondert. Gerade bei einer Maus auf solche Ideen zu kommen, ich kann es nicht nachvollziehen! Wie auch immer, ich wollte genau diese Maus, also muss ich mit dem Abstrich halt leben. Die Haptik einer Maus lässt sich ja nur subjektiv einschätzen, mir liegt dieses kleine Schätzchen richtig gut, für meine Ansprüche am Tablet nahezu perfekt, und was Mäuse und Tastaturen angeht bin ich doch sehr eigen. Die Daumentaste ist ideal positioniert, mit Druck auf dieser gelangt man auf das ModernUI von Windows 8. Streift der Nutzer mit dem Daumen nach unten, öffnet sich links die Leiste mit den offenen Apps, diese kann man durch weiteres streifen nach unten auswählen. Streift man mit dem Daumen nach oben, kann man direkt durch die Programme wechseln. Das ganze ist wirklich eingehend, nutzt man diese Funktionen, sind sie sehr schnell einverleibt. Gut ist auch der Einrastunkt des Scrollrades, schön knackig, ein gutes Gefühl. Das Mausrad lässt sich nach links und rechts seitlich anklicken, so das man in den Apps und auf dem ModernUI auch seitlich scrollen kann, tolle Nummer. Auf der Unterseite der Maus sind neben dem Laser noch eine Pairing- Taste sowie ein An/Aus- Schalter eingebaut. Mein Surface RT erkannte die Maus ohne Taste auf Anhieb. Der Ein/Aus- Schalter war mir wichtig, da so eine Maus beim Transport mal so richtig an den Akkus zieht. Die Glider an sich sind sehr großzügig gehalten, sodass die Verschleißerscheinungen sicher sehr lange auf sich warten lassen. Ein weiteres Highlight ist die hier verwendete BlueTrack- Technologie, auch auf den Granit- Fensterbrettern, die auf den Bildern auf mshub.de zu sehen sind, ist die Maus einwandfrei verwendbar. Besonders für die Arbeit an mobilen Geräten ist dies wichtig. Die Bluetooth- Kopplung arbeitet bei mir sehr zuverlässig, bisher hatte ich nicht einen Abriss. Nach 3 Wochen intensiver Nutzung halten die beiden mitgelieferten AA Duracell Batterien noch einwandfrei. Die Maus ist für Windows 8 konzipiert, aber ebenso mit Windows 7, Linux oder Mac OS nutzbar. Man kann sich die Funktionen bei Bedarf auch selbst belegen. Für mein mobiles Gerät ist diese Maus bestens geeignet, mit rund 30 Euro, die dieses Schmuckstück momentan in etwa kostet, macht man nichts falsch. Für Hardcore- Gamer ist diese Maus aber keinesfalls eine Option, das möchte an dieser Stelle auch erwähnt sein. via mshub.de
