ColemanWeatherproof Sundome Outdoor Shelter

This review is being written about 5 years after purchase, so is done after using it quite a bit. 5 years on and we still have it, although there are some things I wish we had done differently. The main one is always clean the zips, eyelets and poles after use to get rid of the salt if using it at the seaside. We noticed the zip rotted away very quickly (within the first few months) as we didn't clean it. I'm sure if we had, it would still be working today.Also one of the eyelets gave out last year, but a couple of well place cable ties have served, and still serve as a good replacement.Even without the zip working (we never really used it much anyway), the tent still stands up to windy days on Cromer beach, and the pockets on the side are perfect for pebbles, big and small, or sand to help keep the tent down. The guy ropes should help as well but to be honest we rarely use them. Fill the pockets with pebbles, and then sit in the tent and it's not going anywhere.The beach tent provides lots of shelter, with plenty of space in it for two people on beach chairs and a picnic blanket, and loads of space in the back to store all your kit.A great purchase that is still going strong, but like I say, if you use it on the beach, make sure you wipe it clean of salt after use and it should last a long long time.

I, characteristically, spent a lot of time researching various UV tents for use on the beach (primarily). I looked at pop-up tents and read a ton of reviews for various makes and models.I settled on the Coleman Sundome because it had good reviews and was made by a 'proper' manufacturer. Also, it seemed pretty easy to set up with only 3 poles. I also liked the sand pockets for extra ballast.My choice was quickly vindicated as we took it to France last year. It was at times rather windy, and VERY sunny, and the tent was an absolute blessing. Our kids loved it and it was quick and easy to put up and take down, and most importantly it was easily transportable - important when you carry a lot of stuff to and from the beach when you have kids.The sundome easily handled the windy conditions, although I have read that the previous model had a vent you could open to let the wind through, I'm surprised that's been removed in this newer version, but even so it stood up well to the test.We've since used this tent again this year when down in Cornwall and it was a no-brainer to take it with us, based on previously experience. We stayed with my in-laws who have been so impressed with it that they want to get one.As others have stated, it's great for kids to nap in, and easily fits 4 (though two of us are under 5) and it is very useful to be able to zip it up to stash away things when you head into the water. Also, the ground sheet is very durable and thick so even on wet sand you don't have any dampness seeping through.I'd heartily recommend this to anyone looking for a beach tent/shelter.

Bought this shelter purely for use on the beach. I had seen a couple of these on the beaches and liked the style and like the fact that it was branded. I've had a few no-name shelters for around the £15 mark, they had no real quality, weren't waterproof and never lasted.When my order came I immediately took it in the garden to build it up. First impressions were good, very easy to build up. The poles are a bit thin but feel quality as the inner walls are thick. You get a bag of pegs for use on grass. The groundsheet is nice and thick and the shell material seems good quality. I checked all the seems and the zip, all very good. Then a 5 minute hosing assured me of the waterproofing, it is at the very least short heavy shower proof. A feature I had been looking for in a shelter was the sand pockets, as I use these just for the beach you cannot use ground pegs. I tested them out on the beach and they provide decent grounding in a light to moderate breeze. Plus you have some guy ropes for more stability which is a nice touch as you don't often see them on little shelters.The size of the shelter is just right. You can get changed in it, fit 3 adults in (just) and zip up if it rains and it's nice and light to carry.The shade created by the shelter is nice and cool, not many rays make it through, giving confidence in putting children in it to keep them out of the sun.The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the all too common problem with tents of all makes, the carry bag is tiny. I'm a big strong guy and as hard as I tried I couldn't wrap the tent tight enough to easily for it back in the back. It takes 2 minutes to build up and at least 10 to pack it away. It does eventually go in but it is stressing the seams on the bag, I can't see it lasting too long. Maybe it's me not using the right technique but it seems an all too common problem with all tents, not just Coleman.Overall I am very satisfied with the shelter itself and can see me getting many happy years out of it, even if the bag doesn't last.

Great beach tent, highly recommended. Bought this to take on beach holiday to Spain, wanted some proper shade from midday sun. It is lighter in weight than expected, fitted into medium suitcase easily, easy to carry down to beach, we had a trial run putting it up before we went and soon got knack with it. Really good size for 2 adults with room to spread out beach towels and all your bits. It went up easily on beach, gave great shade, liked the large integral ground sheet, so practical. We just zipped up front when we went for drink and it was fine. Packing it up takes a little more practice but we managed fine after a couple of tries. Well made, strong carry bag. Sun umbrellas and sunbeds cost 12 euro's a day on beach so we had covered cost of tent in 2 days. Bought inflatable pillow which really added to comfort too.

Haben die Strandmuschel seit 2014 im Einsatz. Für die hiesigen Badeseen ggf. etwas zu groß. Wobei wir die Muschel für Urlaube an der Nordsee gekauft haben. Dafür ist sie genau richtig. Wenn sich andere Zelte bei Wind schon einklappen, steht unsere auch noch weiterhin stabil am Strand. Allerdings haben wir dafür die Beipackheringe gegen anständige 40 cm lange Sandnägel ausgetauscht.

Amanti dell' Out Door e della vita in Campeggio, avendo altri prodotti Coleman,ci siamo fidati del Brand da sempre sinononimo indiscusso di qualita' e valore.Dalle foto che si trovano on-line l' articolo non rende assolutamente, solamente dopo averlo aperto e montato si puo constatare l' elevata qualita' dei materiali e le dimensioni ottimali (almeno per 2 persone), ideali per un utilizzo itinereante, inizialmente pensavo fosse troppo piccolo ma una volta montato mi sono letteralmente ricreduto e' semplicemente fantastico, copre abbondantemente e ciliegina sulla torta, ho potuto testare l' ottimo telo ignifugo alluminato e con protezione i raggi UV. Sottolineo che questo prodotto NON e' il modello XL come ha scritto qualcuno, e anche per questo la fase di montaggio e relativo smontaggio e' veramente rapida, inoltre il leggerissimo sacchetto per niente invasivo, puo' essere facilmente trasportato in ogni situazione.

Muy bueno, estaba en duda una vez comprada, incluso procedí a la opción de cancelar el pedido. Pero no lo pude hacer y ya había salido el producto, y me alegro. Es lo mejor para poder llevarlo a la playa, al pantano, al monte, donde sea se cierra con cremallera, por lo que queda como una tienda de campaña, yo que mido un 1,80 entro dentro perfectamente estirado y con las bolsas en los laterales. La calidad es buena y el precio es bueno. También la cremallera que se cierra perfectamente y va muy fluida es buena cremallera, las varillas son de tienda de campaña y se monta muy fácil, son todo ventajas la verdad es que estoy muy contento con la compra. para los niños entran mis dos hijos perfectamente en la tienda o parasol cómo se quiera llamar. La verdad que estoy muy contento con ello y me alegro no haberlo podido cancelar. Se puede usar sin piquetas se mantiene en el suelo sin necesidad de vientos ni piquetas ni nada. Lógicamente habría que meterle peso dentro porque si viene aire se lo lleva pero vamos eso es de cajón.

Nachdem wir 5 Jahre mit einer 10 Euro Strandmuschel in den Urlaub gefahren sind, die nun leider kaputt gegangen ist, waren wir auf der Suche nach Ersatz. Zudem wollten wir keine mehr in knallbunten Farben. Farblich ist diese nun genau das was wir gesucht haben. Der Aufbau ist sehr schnell und einfach erledigt, vorausgesetzt man "modifiziert" die beiden kurzen Fieberglasstäbe. Diese musste ich um ganze 5cm kürzen, weil sie sonst nur mit großer Gewalt in die dafür vorgesehenen Halter gesteckt werden konnten. Die Nähte standen so unter Spannung das es nur eine Frage der Zeit gewesen wäre bis sie eingerissen wären. Ansonsten ist noch positiv zu erwähnen das das "Zelt" mittels Reissverschluß geschlossen werden kann. Dies verhindert zwar keinen "Einbruch" aber ich denke Gelegenheitsdiebe werden dadurch abgeschreckt.Ich würde wieder kaufen.Edit 2022:Wir haben das Strandzelt unzählige Male im Urlaub dabei gehabt und noch immer funktioniert alles wunderbar. Der Reissverschluss läuft noch wie am ersten Tag.Qualität wie man sie sich wünscht.

J'ai acheté ce Dome solaire en vue des vacances sur les plages et j'en suis très contente. Il est contenu dans une housse facile a transporter et le mode d'emploi du montage est accroché à l'intérieur de la housse comme ça on ne risque pas de le perdre. Il y a des arceaux qui se déplient et qui se place dans des oeillets en tissu il y a également des petits piquets métalliques et des fils pour bien maintenir la tente. On peut aussi la fermer totalement par une grande glissière a ouverture intérieur/extérieur. Elle se monte facilement et résiste bien au vent et protège bien des rayons du soleil. Les dimensions sont parfaites et on peut mettre ses effets personnels à l'abri du sable. C'est un bon article solide. Ah oui il y a des poches où l'on peut mettre du sable pour renforcer la tenue de ce dome. Parfait!
