This is a really good introductory metal detector. I have brought this for my son who loved his previous toy detector and this one crosses over from toy into the functional detector.I tested it walking around the house and it picked out all the metal objects with a range of 4-8 inches. Perfect for shallow metal detecting in the wood or beach.It is well made and comes with a good carry bag, although probably he will not use the bag.There are settings on the back for sensitivity and quality of metal. I found the best result was to have the quality of metal low, but the sensitivity high.It is worth noting that it takes two 9volt batteries so be sure to have some handy. However installation of the batteries was easy as was putting the detector together. It also came with a folding shovel and compass which is perfect for my son to feel like a real explorer. When I showed my wife, she immediately said our son will love it on Christmas.It really is a fantastic gift to get your kids outside and away from screens. Took this out for the first time today after my daughter received as a gift for Christmas.We didn’t find anything of value, but she loved digging up our finds. I’ve added a picture of the bits we found..... some of them were a good few inches below the surface too. It is very light weight and so simple to use. Can’t wait for the next time we take it out 😊

It's easy to use and very lightweight, so perhaps ideal for a child's first metal detector. However, the signal seems quite weak, and I doubt it would detect anything more than a few inches deep. We took my 6 yr old son to the beach to use this, and after half an hour of fruitless searching we decided to 'plant' some treasure without him noticing so as to avoid his disappointment. Even then, his detector went right past the 2p coin we dropped without so much as a beep. After we encouraged him to search the area some more it eventually found it, but how it would ever find some 'real' metal I've no idea.

Really fun little gadget during lockdown. Its for children but to be fair the handles pretty long so when we take it out and my foster child moves onto the next toy my hubby and I quite enjoy playing with it and we haven't found any particular treasures but we've picked up a few coins and its quite good fun digging around in the sand with the little spade.Its got a decently long handle and is easy to use. You pretty much switch it on and its good to go.I'd definately use it more in the winter months when we want a bit of exercise but also an activities to keep us busy. Fairly sturdy and well made.

Have it for my 6 yo son. He is absolutely enjoys of his new amazing toy! Now we spending more time in outside, on fresh air. I think thats better, than with tablet or mobile phone. When we going somewhere, always taking metal detector with us. We have such a lot of fun playing pirates and treasures. Its finding any coins, jewelry and etc. Very light weight and absolutely easy in use. There just one bottom, u dont need to set up nothing even, because everything is seted up for you already.Handle is adjustable for right size. We are happy.

This metal detector was very easy to set up and to use. Takes a 9V battery which lasts well. It has picked up coins we have scattered around the room to test and has found a couple of things outside very close to the surface. The look and feel of the metal detector was disappointing when it arrived. It is very flimsy and 'plastic' looking. For the price I expected something more sturdy, not toylike. It is very lightweight, which is good for my children, and the height is adjustable. The monitor is very simple and easy to understand for the children. It comes with its own carry bag, which is great for taking out and about.

I bought this for my young nephew. He loves digging for treasure. I thought I'd treat him and this seemed perfect. Been trying it out for myself and its dead easy to use, simple one button operation. It's adjustable height. It also comes with a handy carry case and a little shovel sieve for digging your finds out.

Great for children but not very sensitive at detecting metal, it is better then the toy versions by far but the sensitivity could be improved for the price I feel.The detector is lightweight and the handle can be adjusted which is really good,again for children. It does feel quite fragile and that it could break easily if not.used appropriately.Overall think it's ok for children or someone starting out who is unsure if they'll enjoy taking up metal detecting but would say of your looking for a more sensitive detector this isn't the one for you.
