Inexpensive and works well for me!
It's behaviour is not very clear from the description above. There are three sockets.- one socket is always ON- two sockets (marked master and peripheral) are switched ON and OFF by the device. The one marked master is used to sense when to switch OFF both sockets.- the black remote sensor turns the two sockets ON when it's button is pressed, or (once programmed) it senses a remote control signal (like your TV power on button from the TV remote).- NOTE: unlike some other products the master socket is not used to sense when to turn ONSo if you programmed the device to recognise your remote's power on button - usage is:- Press the remote's power on button and all the connected items are then powered, you'll probably then need to press it again to turn on your TV (or Surround Sound amplifier in my case) connected to the master socket. Once the TV (or Surround Sound Amplifier) is on this will keep everything powered.- If the TV is not turned on, it will turn off again after 5 or so seconds.- Turn off the TV (or Surround Sound Amplifier) and then after a short delay the power will be turned off to all items. This is working well for me. I had a minor problem "programming" the device to my remote and found it needed to program it in the dark to avoid the device randomly turning on. It seemed the room lighting confused it.This device will only work if a significant current draw occurs from whatever is connected to the "master" socket within 5 seconds of being initially powered. This could be a problem if it (e.g. your TV) takes a long time to "boot" (the screen being on is probably this biggest power draw). Whilst it works for me, the designers probably should have had a longer delay between sensing the low power and turning off.

Absolutely brilliant. I hate poor audio from TV speakers so in my bedroom I have a pair of Logitech PC speakers plugged into the headphone socket of the TV. Problem is that the speakers don't have a remote control so every time you want to watch something in bed you have to get up and manually turn the speakers on, then when finished get up and manually turn them off again (sure, it's not far, but naked in the English weather, I'd rather stay under my sheets then cold, naked streaking across the room, thank you!).Set up took about 10 seconds. Plug it all in, point my TV remote control at the IR receiver and teach it the on/off command, that's it. Now I press the power button on on my TV remote and the socket turns on, switching my TV onto standby and the speakers on. Press the power button a second time (there's virtually no delay, you can press it twice in under a second) and the TV comes on. Done.Once I'm done press the power button on my TV to turn the TV off, the socket automatically detects this and a few seconds later cuts all the power and so turns both the TV and speakers off.Couldn't be happier, exactly what i was looking for, perfect.

Powerful for power saving
This works well with my computer, switching all accessories off when I shut the computer down. It also shuts everything down, including the computer, when the computer goes into standby which is very power saving, but may not be a feature that everyone wants. Before you can turn the computer back on, you have to press the button on the device, (or use a remote control), in order to get the power back.

Ideal!
I have an entertainment center that has a lot of items that remain on standby when not in use. I figured this might be a good choice to keep everything switched off remotely without having to try to wrestle my way behind the unit to the power socket. So I invested in this. It's quite a bulky plug which means units with backs on them may conflict with it depending on how close to the wall you want to place the unit. The top socket ("master socket") is for your television. This socket keeps track of whether your TV is in standby or not (for reference, I use an LG 43" 4K TV with mine). When the TV is in use, it provides power to the socket on the right-hand side (the "peripheral socket"). You can use an extension lead in this socket to power all of your items you want switched off (in my case, numerous games consoles) when the TV enters standby. To the left hand side of the plug is the "permanent on" socket. As the name suggests this provides constant, unending power to devices you do not want to switch off. This is ideal for say, a broadband modem or TV box (I use another extension lead with my modem/TV box). When the TV enters standby, the plug will disable power to the TV and anything in the "peripheral socket" in around 20-30 seconds. Power to the TV (and therefore other devices) can be restored by syncing your TV's remote control to the attached sensor (which features a long cable for ease of use) and pressing the standby button. This process is extremely easy. One press restores power to the TV and your devices, and the second press would turn your TV on from standby as normal.Be warned however - if your TV is not turned on from standby when the plug is reactivated and supplying power to the two sockets it will shut off again within 20-30 seconds. So make sure your TV is on as soon as possible. This product does everything I want it to do and it's ridiculously easy to use. If you want to save a bit of energy (and hate lots of things being in standby like I do) this is a very worthy purchase for the price. It could potentially pay for itself many times over!

Works well but this item may be pre-owned
Decent product and works well but what contributed to the low review score is that this item had been opened and I assume to be pre-owned, since the flap for the box had a tear. Furthermore, instructions were missing. I don't trust this seller.
