Good for its price point
Used for zoom music lessons to hold my phone on a window mount. However, it’s mechanism is very stiff and only just fits an iPhone 12 Pro. Upon pulling it out to put the phone in it snapped. Was able to fix and it still works but because of this I’ve only given 4* not 5.The plastic used to grip the phone is also hard yet the back has a foam pad. I wish the side grips were foam too. It would make me use it more often without the worry of damaging my phone case or phone itself.

Excellent quality and performs well
I bought this mount in order to hold my Galaxy S8 in a Manfrotto tripod (see my recent review for the quick change plate used). The threads in the mount are well machined and easily accept the screw of the quick change plate, allowing for a solid mounting point. I have only used the mount on it's end so far, to allow landscape orientation of the phone and it achieves this well. The inner parts are padded to protect the phone and the (top) side without a screw mounting is sprung to allow adjustment for any size phone. The spring is strong and requires some force to extend, which may pose a little problematic for anyone with limited dexterity. For me, the powerful spring is reassuring as it forces the mount to hold tight against the phone in use and I can confidently rely upon it to hold the (expensive and precious!) phone securely.I would be happy relying on this mount during full motion and all extremes of the ball joint of my tripod head - even upside down (against gravity), effectively only being held by the two 'arms' of this mount.Very pleased with the top quality and great price. I expect it to last quite a long time (under occasional use) but at such a low price, even if it breaks I'd just buy another.

Its fine but not probably not the best...
The media could not be loaded. ...Ok you get what you pay for. At about half the price of the Manfrotto mobile clamp, for occasional use it maybe fair. The problem with it is that the recoiling springs within are too taught (powerful); it is a bit of a three handed operation to get a phone seated. The squeaking of the springs within the clamp are quite audible, and a quite strong "snap" can be heard when fully opened and allowed close; there is a lot of elastic force there (see video). I am running a 2018 Samsung A8, which is modestly sized by 2020 mid range mobile standards, and I think people with "phablet", "+" (plus), or "Max" would have problems with this clamp.I don't think it will crush a phone, but could cause superficial damage to the bezels / sides, if care isn't taken when seating it. Unfortunately I do not have the "branded" model to compare, but this one is certainly a little crude.

STRONG GRIP
I'm sorry the photos aren't super sharp. The holder arrived on time and does what it says it does. The two threaded mounts work either end-on or back-on and fit a standard camera tripod screw. The inside of the holder is padded to prevent scuffing your phone and the grip is really strong, so there are no concerns about your phone slipping out. With nothing in it the grip is 5 cm wide stretching to a maximum of 8.5 cm so it's going to fit a lot of phones. All told I can't fault this product. For the money it's a bargain, really. If this was useful, click the button. Cheers!

... ghetto modding one to my bike and they were great while they lasted
I've bought a few cheapo generic branded phone tripod mounts for use on a tripod as well as ghetto modding one to my bike and they were great while they lasted. The springs always wore out on my and in the end I got fed up of buying another one every few months. In the end I thought I'd go the whole hog and try out a 'proper' one.I mist say, after 3 months of use, it's holing up amazingly. They just as tight gripping and reliable as the day I bought them. The spring's haven't become stretched out and squeaky like the other generic brands. The grip is also very good on these, it fits and grabs my OnePlus One perfectly, I've yet to have it drop out of the mount so far!

iPhone 6S tripod mount
I use this with an iPhone 6S and find that it works perfectly. The spring mechanism is strong enough to grip your phone securely and the rubber grips prevent any damage to your expensive smartphone. The mount threads are well made and easily lock into a standard 1/4 inch tripod mount. The item is also very light and compact so will fit easily into even the smallest and lightest of setups. It's a simple tripod mount for your phone at a reasonable price. If you need more then there are more specialist mounts that are suited for your purpose.Only time will tell if this will last and other reviewers have mentioned cracking after a short period of use. For my uses as a static home setup it's perfect and for a reasonable price

Well made
I thought the price was a bit high for what it is however, when it arrived, I realised it is not a cheapo plastic thing that won't las five minutes but is well made and will last years. Very pleased with it and use it on a mini tripod I already had. It takes an old iPhone which, combined with EpocCam software I bought from the App store, means I now have an HD webcam for less than £13. A real bargain as webcams are like gold dust during the pandemic and would cost five times as much for the same quality of result.

Seems to be very sturdy so far
Seems to be very sturdy so far. I made the mistake of skimping out and buying the cheapest I could find; it broke in about half an hour of purchase. This one, however, doesn't show any signs at all of breaking. Like I said, it's incredibly sturdy. I'd definitely recommend buying one! With smart phone cameras progressing the way they are, it wouldn't make sense not to purchase this. Your smart phone can probably easily replace a P&S camera, and this tripod mount makes taking long exposures super easy.I haven't had much use for the tripod mount on the rear of the mount yet, but it's good to know it's there should I ever need to use it.
