Hits all the important topics, written with wit, loved it
I have been reading up on the subject of a plant-based diet for the last 18 months. I'm a details person and like to weigh out the facts and find this book to be full of truth. I had greatly reduced my own animal protein consumption more than a year ago, went to 98% by last August. Somewhere along the way since August I didn't need my 2% margin of error anymore. I'm stronger, trimmer, and healthier- and I eat when I am hungry! This book is a great read- he hits all the high points in 36 quick chapters, and does so in a rather humorous way. I think this book makes the perfect introduction into the subject, and would be a great book to share with others who are open to exploring the topic of a plant based diet.The book focuses primarily on the health issues at hand, so there is nothing off putting about his approach to the topic as a whole. He does touch on the impact on our environment and the conditions which factory farm animals suffer- and rightly so, as these issues shouldn't be ignored. If you are sick of taking prescription drugs with side effects, then this way of eating deserves consideration. Cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity and many other illnesses can be largely addressed by changing our diets-and this book outlines the reasons very simply.And if you fear that plant based foods are dull rabbit fare, then you will also love the recipe section with some full color photos. Plant-based meals can be easy, satisfying and delicious! Over time, my tastes have changed- I love more and more types of veggies and I crave my old vices less and less.Overall its an extremely informative book, fun to read, and well done.

Rip does it again...
Good-bye market-driven myths. Hello health! If you are new to the plant-strong way or have been a vegan for years, this book should be a required read. Rip writes with a frank, conversational style that is hard to put down...I read it in three days, and I'm a pretty busy gal! For those meat-eaters out there, I'm sure this will be eye-opening. Read it, try the diet for 30 days and see how you feel! (Feel free to get your blood work done first) For those fast-food-vegans and vegetarians out there: take it all the way! Read the book. Make the switch. Say goodbye to arthritis, gastrointestinal issues, skin problems, long recoveries after work-outs, sluggishness, heartburn,...and just about whatever ails you. I can speak from personal experience, but there are plenty of anecdotal references in Rip's book, and plenty more all over the internet and Amazon.Bottom line; this is a great read and a wealth of information. The kindle version is fantastically organized with links to the recipes within the text and perfect skip-ahead features for finding recipes. To your health!Update after reviewing all the recipes and trying a few: Great recipes too! The only thing that's missing is a great E2 Texas BBQ sauce. Quiet a few of the recipes call for quiet a bit of BBQ sauce and I hated pouring so much sugar into the great whole-food plant-strong recipes. Bring us a great BBQ sauce recipe!

Change your life with plant strong information!
Rip's book has all the best elements of an easy-to-read, easy-to-follow, medically researched and backed information, along with great tips on how to incorporate a plant-strong diet in your life. It makes sense as you read it, why we have a record number of people with heart disease, diabetes, and cancer in this country - all the meat, processed crap, sugars, oils, and dairy being poured into our bodies over the years. Rip refers to milk as "liquid meat." I keep that one in mind as I see people drinking down the white stuff.His first book in 2009 influenced me to start the vegan life, and 4 years later, I'm still with it. You don't need special tools, just arm yourself with his well-researched, conversational style, fact-based information, along with his quick wit and humorous writing style. It allows you to see how others have been helped medically, physically, mentally with a plant-strong diet. Even if you are a meat-eater, you'll love how read how easy it is to incorporate fruits and vegetables into your diet.It is all about the beauty of taking your health back and being in charge again - you will feel better, look better, and have tons more energy - the plant-based way...and the side effects? Losing weight and maybe being able to ditch those pills you have to take to keep down blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.Thank you Rip for such a great book. You don't sugar coat anything (no pun intended)! I have it on my kitchen counter and refer to it daily! It's my "Bible" of nutrition and inspiration. Oh, and great recipes to get you started that are oh so easy-to-do!

Great read and great recipes! Plant-strong for life!
I've been plant-strong for almost a year after reading Rip's first book, "The Engine 2 Diet." The new book is a perfect compliment with new recipes, updated information, and a quick refresher course in plant-based living. Thanks to Engine 2, my cholesterol is down (dropped 100 points in 30 days!!!), my BMI is perfect, and I'm now running ultramarathons with relative ease :)I read "My Beef with Meat" cover to cover on the plane today and love that it's easily digestible (much like a plant-based diet); the information, while comprehensive, is not too in-depth. This is a solid primer, sure to wet your appetite for more information.I'm psyched to have the new recipes, too; I got to sample some of the recipes at the Farms 2 Forks Tampa immersion -- the Adonis cake (recipe in the book) is hands down one of the best cakes I've ever eaten!Great job, Rip! Another successful book under your belt and hopefully thousands more lives will be changed for the better. Thank you for all that you do to make health a priority!

If you only......
If you only buy one book buy this one. Rip explains everything so easily and interestingly. It is informative, funny and challenging at the same time. The recipes are great, easy to follow and easy to eat. I began the E2 diet on June 4 and I have already lost 15 lbs.... And I was never hungry.I can truthfully recommend this book to everyone.... Buy it, you won't regret it.

Rip Esselstyn beschreibt in dirktem Amerikanisch die Gesundheitsproblem und zeigt die Lösung mit auf.Kein trockenes "Diätbuch" wo nur Kalorien etc. gezählt werden. Für alle, die sich bereits so ernähren eine erneuter Beweis, daß diese Art der Ernährung, die beste ist.

Very important book
The essential messages this book carries can vastly improve and even save lives. By changing to a plant based diet, one immediately lowers the risk of life-shortening conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Rip Esselstyn explains the plant-strong diet and its wonderful advantages in a very readable and enjoyable style with over 100 recipes. A must for health conscious individuals!

Food for thought
Eating beef, or animal protein may be regarding as bad for your health as smoking cigarettes in the very near future. But before the government starts placing warnings on the products and the lawsuits start flying, we can save ourselves and the planet a lot of grief by switching to even just one day of eating plant-based foods. The book is a good mix of science, anecdotal reports and comments and the "meat" of the matter; the yummy new recipes.

Informative and easy to understand.
Great book full of gems of truth on how eating a plant based diet can transform your health and reverse chronic disease. I know it works as I use this approach in my own Naturopathic practice. Lots of tasty recipes to help you explore a plant strong diet with enjoyment. Good work Rip!
