Optoma HD142x - The definition of HD
As a previous owner of an Optoma HD700x for eight years I decided to upgrade to the Optoma HD142x after several weeks reviewing DLP and LCD alternatives. The brightness, picture quality is significantly greater than the HD700x. It is also very much quieter, the cooling fan barely whispers it's merry way in keeping the HD142x sweetly warm - in use there seems very little noise difference between ECO and bright settings. The projector is positioned 9 feet from a wall and on low magnification produces a sharp image 70 inches horizontally across. The wall is matt magnolia producing bright whites with satisfying deep blacks.Previously movies were viewed in the dark with the HD700x, not so with the HD142x night viewing is with a table lamp on - this provides a more relaxing low light ambience - the HD142x is just so bright in complete darkness the brightness needed dialing down to -12 for better comfort levels. This really shows that the HD142x will throw a very usable image at much larger viewing distances. The projector is driven by a Samsung BluRay 1080p player, viewing with BluRay disks and Netflix ultraHD sources (Call Saul - for example) produces a flawless image at close inspection. There are many many options for tweaking the image via colour, gamma, tint, saturation etc - just play around with these to your heart's content or just plumb for a standard setting such as cinema, vivid or video for great results. There is a black enhancement feature that works well by dimming the bulb on dark scenes - this is fast, produces dark blacks whilst not seen as a switch in luminosity - with ECO and dark black combined the stated lamp life is predicted to be 7000 hours - that's a lot of viewing. The HD142x is bulkier than the HD700x so not as easy to carry around as a portable viewer. There is a 10 watt internal speaker so as long as there is an HDMI source visual and audio projections come in a single package. There is no evidence of any distortion - DLP rainbow (never seen one) - DLP is a mature technology and for most users no longer an issue.High quality filming such as the Netflix Wild series are amazingly immersive - snow and seawater flicks into your face - quality seems as good as a 4DTV without the need for a bulky big black thingy in your living room. It's easy to move the projector around the home and at £449 a steal compared with a 4DTV. It's hard to see why anyone would pay more for a full HD projector. Standard DVDs get a new lease of life - just popping with colour and brio - happy viewing.

An amazing projector for the money. Truly exceptional.
An absolutely incredible projector, which gives my friend's expensive Sony VPL projector a run for its money. It's so good that if you have a white wall you probably won't need a screen at all. The brightness in particular is amazing - it doesn't look much different from how I imagine an actual LCD TV would look on the wall, if 120" LCD TVs didn't cost tens of thousands of pounds of course.Set up is quick and intuitive. It is pretty much plug and play - you specify how it is being used (i.e. whether it should project upside down or not, for ceiling mount installations). As a bonus it has a powered USB port (this is not switched on by default), so you can plug in a Chromecast into one of the two HDMI ports and power it from the USB, so you don't need any separate power supply at all.I got this projector for £375 during the Amazon Prime day sales, but it's easily worth the regular asking price. The only criticism I have of it is that the fan in the unit is not the quietest. If you are looking for an absolutely silent unit then you will probably not be satisfied with this. It also gets very hot during use, I don't know if this is an issue or not but it didn't seem to affect performance in any way.

Stop thinking about getting one and pull the trigger!
I've been debating getting a projector for over a year and on Amazon prime day I saw this deal at £375, it's full 1080p includes a louder than expected speaker and easy to set up. The ports on the back have been intentionally minimal, you don't get VGA ports like the more professional projectors but don't let that deter you. This projector is for those who want a quick set up and a top quality 1080p projector offering a crystal clear image with vibrant colours and contrast. It comes with 3D but I don't watch 3D movies, so far I've set it up watched a few films including the dark knight (plenty of shadowy dark screens with full vibrant blacks and contrast) and watching the eubank boxing match as I write this review. The picture is crisp the fast moving action from the boxing really brings out the best in it. Like the headline says if you're debating getting a quality projector which can give you a full 1080p picture, easy to set up and a long lasting lamp life just get this one, more than justifies the price as for the fan noise the speaker inside the projector more than drowns it out and it's just over halfway in volume

Great projector for the price but with some RBE
Great projector, getting a well lit 91 inch diagonal screen from about 10-11 feet away. Really really quiet, which is exactly what I wanted being as in my setup the projector is close to my head. Full bright mode the fan is quiet... eco mode, which to me doesn't seem much dimmer, is Really quiet.I'll dock a star for the 'rainbow effect' - seems I'm one of those persons who can see it but is not overly bothered by it. To be honest, for me it only happens when I shift my eyes during dark/light contrast scenes in films... I have a feeling if I'd not read about it, I'd probably not no. Games I don't notice it as I've got something else to concentrate on. Gaming games performance seems to be where this one really shines IMO.It's worth mentioning that the 3D capability using cheapo 15 pound for a pair DLP link glasses is fantastic - great capability for the price. The inbuilt speaker works - it's tinny but quite loud... To be honest as I'll be using a Bluetooth external speaker post of the time it's an unimportant point for me.Brightness is very good, can watch this quite happily if you crank it up even if daylight is shining in - but of course like any projector it's best if it's dark or if you at least shut the curtains.

Guter Projektor

Ottino acquisto!!
Grande pecca!A parte queste cose..soddisfattissimo dell'acquisto.
