Pros:It closes the gate securely every time.Easily adjustable ensuring the gate closes completely but not too hardAttractive hardware (Our HOA is very narrow on what they’ll allow. It was approved quickly).The installation wasn’t difficult (a little fussy, See Below).Cons:Our daughter complains that the gate is now hard to open (You can’t have everything).The installation instructions are not well written.I’ll grant you the instructions for installing the unit are not the easiest to follow. My wife (who is very mechanically inclined) and I sat down at the kitchen table and worked through the assembly with all the parts prior to the actual install. Once we were outside at the gate, the install went reasonably quickly (with a couple caveats).With some of the brackets, the order you put the screws in and tighten them matters. The hardware would block access to some of the screw-holes once the bracket was secured.Spreading the cotter pin was a tad tricky because there wasn’t much room to work.We’ve had the unit up for two months now, and everything is still working perfectly. The gate closed firmly and securely every time. The kids are no longer slamming the gate, which is helping all the gate hardware stay intact.We're very happy with the purchase.

Well built product that functions as described. Using these on 4 different gates to stop the slamming noise and continual fence loosening caused by hard slamming. Adjustable shock is a nice feature. Highly recommend. One note: wood screw hardware included, will need to purchase sheet metal hardware when installing into metal gates.

The gadget is in use on our cedar-plank gate, and keeps the gate from closing too forcefully in the wind. It's important to read the instructions thoroughly before embarking on installation. In spite of high use of jargon, it's possible to understand all instructions; do that before you begin. Be sure you have everything oriented properly, all parts in the places designated. An extra pair of hands is useful. Also use a screw starter for each screw driven into wood.

Installed on a 50" wide picket fence gate. Instructions were ok, but had to read through several times. The order of installation could be improved, I had to take some installed stuff off to put other stuff on. But that's ok. It works as advertised.But I had to return it. The shock absorber is adjustable for closing speed, but the spring pressure is not. Some adult family members had a great deal of difficulty pushing the gate open. Perhaps this should be offered in different models with different spring tensions.

This is an awesome product, I bought it for the ease of mind for my dog not to run out of the yard because my house has alot of foot traffic. I purchased this product in May of 2016 and just this month it started giving trouble. I am re purchasing because it was one of the best things I bought to give me the ease of mind of the gate closing automatically and my dog being safe and sound inside our yard. I live in New York and it's hard for anything to survive too long with the weathering it undergoes and I have to say even the toughest parts of the winter this product NEVER failed!

The instructions aren't great, but the product is good. Pay attention to the 90-degree opening limit. I've installed these for many customers and I think the main cause of failure has been opening the gate well beyond the 90-degree limit. The instructions do recommend installing a stop at the 90-degree limit, and I think that's a good idea.

This is a great product, it works perfectly. It is also adjustable to fine-tune the closing speed. I have installed two of these on different style gates, one is a 49 inch wide gate to my backyard and the other was installed on a 6 foot wide driveway gate. In both installations the mechanism works well. The driveway installation was done several years ago and it still works perfectly.The manufacturer should make two changes:1. Improve the written instructions and make a YouTube video showing the installation. Installation is simple, but the instructions are poorly written.2. The metal shipping clip that must be removed after installation should be painted bright yellow instead of black. Then the instructions should clearly say to remove the yellow metal clip after installation.

Does not slam my door. Adjustable to how fast or slow to close the door. Works independently from existing from hinges. very well built product, very strong. Install instructions can be a little better.

As a 66 year old have some experience installing things. Careful read of the instructions helps.Worked as advertised 1st time. Liked it enough to purchase a 2nd one with same outcome. Would recommend

This is an amazing piece of hardware that really lives up to its name. We get extremely strong winds through our area and with this attached the gate truly doesn’t slam—which means our hinges and locks also don’t get destroyed. Super happy with this.

Product seems to work well but have only had it a couple weeks. 3 stars only because the instructions are absolutely terrible. You’re basically going all by written instruction. The pictures or images are of no help. In this day and age, you would think the company would post an install video. At the very least, shell out a few bucks and get an illustrator/photographer to update your terrible printed instructions with better pictures. Wasted a lot of time installing and drilled some incorrect holes in my wood gate. And before someone judges me, I’m a pretty handy person with many, many DIY home projects under my belt. Sorry for the somewhat harsh review but it has to be said or nothing changes for future customers.
