illyGround Coffee - Standard | 1 x 250g

This came bundled with a new Moka and my reaction to the first cup was quite unexpected. Although I have a cafetiere mouldering away in a cupboard somewhere, to be dusted down on the few occasions I entertain, my home's presiding deity is most certainly a tea drinker - coffee being reserved for those shrines to the dark stuff harbouring great steam-spitting behemoths of latin engineering. That was until I got my hands on the not so humble Bialetti Moka which has made home preparation of caffeine hits a delight both in the process and the resulting brew.And the reaction to my first cup of Illy? Instant transportation to the jasmine-scented shores of the easterm Mediterranean where nearly every morning for a decade I indulged in a cup of this very stuff. Sentiment aside, this is a marvellous coffee and although I have tried many others there is something about the smooth richness of this one which stands above the rest. I may still be a tea Jenny but when it comes to coffee Illy is all you need.

Summary:Very good, "neutral" type of italian coffee. I'd say that this is more of an everyday coffee rather than a unique tasting hipster brand. Price hovers between 5 - 6.5 pounds so pick it up when it drops to 5 pounds.Pros+ Reliable, dependable taste.+ Medium roast as it says so milder compared to Illy Dark Roast.+ Doesn't have chocolate back-taste like the Lavazza medium roast (Lavazza is find if you have no preference).+ 250 g should last you for a month (solo-use).Cons- Sometimes can lose taste if left too longs (>1 month can opened).- Some people might prefer more unique blends.

This makes lovely flavoured espresso perfect for lattes and cappuccinos. I'm not a fan of espresso on it's own so cannot comment whether this is strong or medium in taste as I only use this for making lattes. I also store in the fridge as the tub states preferably store in the fridge. It doesn't make any difference to the flavour whether you store on the kitchen shelf or in the fridge. The lid screws down keeping the product contained and fresh.

Got this by mistake, I thought they were whole beans. Very sharp when under extracted, like even when timing is on with say a ristretto. Grind is good, double comes out 60ml by 25-30sec with 20lb tamp. Just don't cut it short unless you like it extra sharp. Decent tasting espresso, even taste good with milk though doesn't exactly cut through more pokes through but I like that.

I have tried many different brands of coffee but the only one with a full depth of flavour is Illy. I only drink caffeinated coffee in the morning and really look forward to my breakfast cup. The rest of the day I drink Illy Decaf which is the only decaf I have found that tastes like the real thing. If you are looking for a coffee you can look forward to and enjoy then I recommend Illy both caffeinated and decaf, you just can't get a better coffee.

I buy this again and again to use in out Bialetti Esspresso maker. It's a really nice, smooth coffee. Not too bitter, but a rich, full flavour. Comes in a really nice tin too which seals well.

Great coffee for being very commercial. However did not blow me away. I do not recommend to use for moka pots, grind is too fine, So no espuma, or foam. and high risk you may burn it.

Have always been a fan of Illy - for anyone who hasn't tried it, it's a must! I use this in my Italian cafetiere and it tastes great each time. The tin allows the contents to stay fresher for longer and it lasts for a suitable amount of time. I will definitely be ordering again!

Finally found decent quality coffee

I brew a cup, add a little milk and sugar, close my eyes and take a sip. Immediately I'm transported back to Venice where our family takes our vacations every year. Ahhhh... Caffè molto buono!
