Canwelum Batteries: Spend the extra
I purchased two batteries to fit my CREE torch - which (when used with the sleeve) they do comfortably. They do weight the correct amount, 45 grams, and come in a nice box which protects them in foam - I am therefore led to believe the product s a genuine 18650 battery, unlike many available on Amazon. The protective cover is strong and the contacts seem good, providing a very bright beam on my torch for a good length of time. There are others available cheaper, but I would advise you to spend a little more and buy a good product.Though I have not bought the charger personally, I have looked at the images provided on Amazon and would like to mention that the plug displayed does not conform to BS 1363 (as the Earth plug is partially insulated), making it dangerous to be supplied in the UK, and as such I would suggest another source for a charger. The batteries remain, however, a very good purchase.

Seem to be decent enough cells.
First of all yes it is possible to buy 18650 batteries off eBay for a lot less than these. I know, I've done it. I've also regretted it big time and had to ask for refunds. So this time I decided to spend a bit more and get decent cells with a protection circuit built in to them. With these you can use them in any compatible torch/headlight etc and not worry about whether they will recharge next time. Without a protection circuit in either the cell or the device being operated the cell will fall below a certain voltage and then your charger will not recognise that there is a battery there. It will not charge. While it is possible to get around this it is a right royal pain to do so. I cannot yet speak of the longevity of these batteries as I have only cycled them though one charge/recharge so far. I should find out before too long though as I use a headtorch for around 4 to 5 hours every single night.

Imporessive performance and build quality
Charger gets to just under 60c near power inlet. Battery's only go 5 c above the room temperature. Be careful when removing batteries as the spring on the metal is very powerful. Spanked my finger hard. So lift battery from positive end and slowly release tension. Been using them in cree torches and they still going fine after 5 hours run time. These are a must for torches that dont have hi-tech battery management. These battery have a protection circuit to stop full discharge. Very good value and saves me charging AAA batteries every few days.Batteries feel heavy enough to have the capacity stated.

Great quality and value in my experience
I've had these for over a year. I use them in a Boruit head torch when I run in the winter and don't have time to run in daylight. They drive the torch very well and they hold their charge; I've run for up to 2 hours on a charge and they've still kept the light bright. For comparison the batteries that came with the torch (theoretically 4000MAh) lasted around 3 months before they couldn't hold sufficient charge to keep the torch going for a 35 minute run.In addition to these Canwelum batteries, I have a set of Panasonic NCR18650B 3400MAh batteries, these are also good, but they're more expensive than the Canwelum ones and I don't think they last any longer on a charge (admittedly, I have not timed the maximum burn time for each set of batteries, so I'm talking subjectively rather than scientifically!). In any case, for me these Canwelum batteries were a very good buy and excellent value.

Worth replacing multiple AAA batteries
I keep four cree torches around the house since we have experienced power cuts on occasion so it's good to know exactly where to find a torch quickly without too much blundering about in the dark. In addition, my sons are in the cubs and scouts so do have a requirement for torches on fairly frequent occasions and I also have adapters for using torches as bicycle lights. I had been using 3xAAA batteries, but they don't seem to have the power and weren't lasting that long, so I thought I'd try a 18650 battery. I have so far bought 2 Canwelum batteries and with the limited time they've been in use they appear to be an excellent buy. I bought them when one of the torches was getting a bit dim and needed new batteries, so I've replaced those with one of these 18650 batteries (which incidentally did come charged) and the difference was immediately noticable. The torch is much brighter than it had previously been.So it's a bit early for a long term usage review, but I'm pleased with these batteries so far and will be buying more as AAA batteries fail on the other torches.

Excellent batteries, I bought some 9LED and single 1W ...
Excellent batteries, I bought some 9LED and single 1W LED torches from Clas Ohlson in the January sales that took 3x AAA batteries in a little holder for £1, pulled the bottom section out with pliers to reveal another spring and then these fit right in(needed a little padding on the outsides but the corrgated cardboard from the amazon box worked a treat, Starting at 4.2v the torches are noticably brighter and last much longer, did try the same witha similar looking torch that was £1 but not on sale, still worked but gets warm after 10 minutes use unlike the higher quality ones from the sales, still, exceptionally happy

Chuck norris of batteries
I have used these batteries for years and they are great. I used these in sweeden with temperatures of -30 Celsius for a prolonged period of time and they show no signs of fatigue or damage. They have also survived being submerged in water.I have batteries i bought that are a few years old now from canwelum and have been through the wars still perform great, i would recommend these if you need good quality batteries that survive almost anything.I have about 10 batteries now and i would not buy batteries from another company as often they are cheap and blow up or lose charge quickly. The charger for the batteries is also good, it takes 6-7 hours to fully recharge but i normally stick the batteries on to charge as often as i can, so it's usually only 30 minutes to wait till fully charged.

Stay charged
Use these on an IR torch for night vision. They work perfectly, last pretty well and, because they come as a pair, it's easy to keep a spare as back up for when the light fades.
