Has quite a kick to it.
I bought this for polishing Venetian plaster. Does exactly that. Works really well, it’s heavy to use and when you first turn it on it has quite the kick. I’ll get used to it n time. It has a dial to turn the speed up or down, I like the handle on it and it’s easy to assemble (you need to attach the handle and the plate that spins, just a couple of screws and you get an Allen key to do it) came from Germany took a while to come and have since seen them cheaper, but overall I’m happy with it. Awesome piece of kit for me, hoping to have many years with it. I was recommended to it by someone else who has this particular one. He’s had his five years so far! You can get the lambs wool covers for polishing in toolstation which is another reason I went for this one.

A polisher that does the job for a decent price.
I have used this polisher on my large motorhome and on on two cars. It does the same job as professional units but at a fraction of the cost. Professional polishers are probably a bit lighter and will have a longer life but this unit is ideal for home use.A friend of mine bought an identical machine from a tool shop which has branches over all the UK (but with a different brand label) and he paid almost twice the price. You will need to buy some polishing sponges (such as Silverline 868541 Red Polishing Sponge) because only the buffing pad is supplied. If you have not used an electric polisher before I suggest that you watch relevant U Tube videos for guidance.

... of research it suggested that this one had a better speed controller
Picked this one over the 'DIY' version as after a bit of research it suggested that this one had a better speed controller. I bought it to give me old camper a good polish back with G3 compound and used the red silverline sponge. The key thing seems to be to use plenty of water on the panel and sponge to give it a bit of lubrication. After a few minutes I had it working well and was impressed with the results. The machine works well and has plenty of power. There are two things I would change about the machine. 1. on off switch doesn't stay on so you have to hold it in. This can be a bit annoying. 2. the machine is heavy - I am a strong lad and after a while it was a struggle on vertical panels. That said, the handle is good although it is not exactly the same as the one in the picture, it is a left or right handed handle depending on how you put it on. Overall for the money this is great value and does the job well. I can't compare it to more expensive models but for occasional use it's great,

Great. Bought for a single job
Great. Bought for a single job, so went for this quite cheap machine. I polished a concrete countertop and it did the job really well and has since come in handy for other stuff. Some reviews didn't like the soft start, but I found it really useful for the polishing.

A Great Biceps Enhancer
There is no doubt this is one of the best value polishers on the market but there are a few drawbacks. The first is the weight. I bought this machine specifically to polish the hull of a boat; so, large vertical and upside down surfaces. I am fit but after 20 minutes even I could not hold it any more. However the most infuriating drawback is the switching arrangement. Press the side button and squeeze the trigger and wait. Eventually the machine will rotate. Why the delay? Who knows maybe it is a H&S thing but it gets you every time. Not only that, the trigger pressure is far too high so it causes as much energy to be expended holding in the trigger as it does holding up the polisher and once the trigger is relaxed you go through the whole squeeze wait procedure again. This may sound petty but when you spend several days polishing a boat the machine is in dire danger of ending up in the water. If the manufacturer wants to improve the product then include a switch which will lock on so that both hands can manipulate the machine. Some good points. There is plenty of power and the speed control works very well no matter how much pressure is applied. The price is market beating. All in all, this machine is probably good for horizontal level surfaces. I am no expert so don't know if spending more would have resolved these issues but next time I would definitely be tempted to try another make!

What a pain
Its a little difficult for me to say this is a good polisher as it only worked for 5-10 minutes. Still based on that I would suggest you might be advised to look around a bit. Anyway enough of my praise now for the rant. I bought the polisher from amazon on the 17th June. Delivered on the 19th. No problems. Unwrapped it, tested it, no problems. Used for the first time on 23rd July, ran for 5-10 minutes when it stopped and will not restart. Product outside of 30 day return period, fantastic. Filled out returns form on Silverline's website, which it will not let me submit. Looking on their site for contact details, none. Looks like a 118118. I am at this point debating whether to cut my losses and chuck it in the bin, its a heavy beast and is likely to cost me at least £10 to return. I am slightly irked that due to amazons feedback system I had to give it one star.
