UPDATED REVIEW: Died After 2 Months!!!
Worked for all of 2 months, then it didn't. I followed all suggestions to get it to work. I cannot recommend; and suggest you think hard about purchasing this product.UPDATE: From 1 to 5 StarsAmazon provided HOU's Product Lifecycle Support to dig into how to address performance issues. It was very detailed. After trying a couple suggestions, I was able to solve my issue and get the keyboard working.I've updated the ratings since it works exactly as described.

Cuts off during use
I love this keyboard with one major drawback - it seems to cut off in the middle of use, despite being charged fully. When I try to cut it back on, I end up having to hold down the power button for about 10 seconds, sometimes twice in a row to cut it back on. Not sure if I received a faulty one?

Just not practical to type on-ended up returning it.
I saw this case in a YouTube video, and it looked like an excellent idea for my iPad mini. I don't do super heavy typing on my mini, but I like to take it when I travel, and I detest typing anything of more than a few words with the onscreen keyboard, but sometimes I need to send emails while traveling. I thought I'd give this a shot, but the keyboard was too cramped when it arrived, and I spent more time correcting errors than anything else. Also, it has to be re-paired with my iPad every time I turn it on...kind of a pain. The case itself is nicely constructed, and I wanted it to work out for me, but it just did not.

HOU iPad mini A17 keyboard case - small but seemed well made.
Overall, the keyboard seems fairly well-made. My iPad did come loose more than I would prefer, ultimately causing me to return the keyboard. It is very slim and appears like a normal apple case in regard to the actual additional size of the case. The key size is small so if you are a touch typist, it may take a moment to get used to it, but for their size the keys do have a nice travel. The case does what it was intended to do, it is both a keyboard that connects by a Bluetooth and acts is a case for the iPad. The stand is actually the back portion of the case, which is why it does seem to come out of the case fairly easily. If you only have half the case back touching the iPad to hold on, well there you go. The actual bending of the back over to make the stand caused there to be a small amount of wiggle when flat on the case back which I did not care for. Power is supplied by a proprietary cable, which does mean that you will always be carrying that cable with you in addition to others. Ultimately, I decided to go back and just use an old apple wireless keyboard that I will carry in my bag and one of the Pitaka origami cases. As others have said the HOU keyboard is probably the closest thing to a magical keyboard for the a17 iPad mini, but there are compromises that exist due to the devices size.

A really good little keyboard!
This keyboard has a great, solid keyboard feel. I have average-sized male hands and while it feels a little tight when typing a long document, it is still comfortable. I love all the keyboard shortcuts included! There are a few keys that must do triple duty (shift, normal or control key combos) but I found a way around many of them: settings>genera>keyboard>text replacement let me eliminate most of the times I need to use apostrophes, for example, and I also came up with a question mark workaround that way. The hyphen and quotation marks still need to use the control key, but didn't take me long to learn to do that more or less automatically. This is literally the only thing I can criticize about the keyboard. I've had a lot of iPad keyboards over the years and this one is the best one I've used (besides the Magic Keyboard on a Pro). I also love the fact that this can be used in either landscape or portrait mode (!) The magnets when using the keyboard are adequately secure, and when in "carry" mode it is very secure, as there is more contact with the back cover. The screen angles one can get are very useful and practical. It doesn't move around on the table. As another reviewer wrote, charge it before setting it up (takes 1-2 hours). The weight is only 5 ounces more than a standard protective cover, and the bulk is the same. The tiny bit of extra weight is worth it IMHO, and is less than nearly all others and much less (and more convenient) than carrying a separate folding keyboard. The weight including the iPad Mini is only 1 pound 3 ounces (the iPad weighs a little over 10 oz by itself). This feels very much like an Apple product, and is definitely worth the $50.

Disconnects a lot and is ultimately unusable
Visually this case is as slick as it comes and I was in love with it immediately. Unfortunately though it kept disconnecting from my ipad after a minute or two of use. And it kept triggering the on-screen keyboard to pop up on my ipad as well.Just to be sure, I connected my bluetooth apple keyboard to my ipad and sure enough it didn't trigger the on-screen keyboard or disconnect or have the same issues. So I know that it was specifically this keyboard case. It's also very small. Like...really small. I'm 5 foot 4, so my hands aren't exactly massive, and this keyboard was way too small for me to get used to.I can no longer use it because the keyboard wont stay connected, and the on-screen keyboard popping up is super annoying. I even charged it with the provided cable and it made no difference in performance, making it unusable.

Overall, really nice
The media could not be loaded. Really nice to the touch on both the cover and the keys- which are both a velvety silicone- the cover more so than the keys. The keys have a nice click sensation to them when you type. Not too small for my hands, but will need to get used to smaller key sizes and some of the accents and punctuation are 3 to a key so you have to use different command keys to get to them. Will probably just take some practice using it. It does stay on with the magnet when closed as a case, but keep in mind that nothing holds it in place when it’s sitting upright, besides for it being leaned on the back kickstand. I like the stand, for the most part. It has a nice tactile feel when you bend it over to make it a triangle stand, and doesn’t go all the way so the iPad will be at a slight incline and never be completely upright at a 90 degree angle-which is fine for me. Can’t speak on the battery life, but all in all seems like a nice, clean design.
