Cheap game board, cheaper chocolate
Last Christmas (i.e. 2014) I got my husband a silly stocking stuffer gag gift of Candy Land "with real chocolate." We forgot it until tonight, when in a fit of whimsy he pulled it out to play.So it turns out you play by randomly pulling out the chocolates and moving to the color directed on the wrapper. The first to the castle gets to eat the big honking chocolate coin and the end and select one of the move pieces for each of the other players. As you play, you set aside the smaller chocolates so presumably you can replay a few times. "Bah," we declared, "we won't replay. Lets just eat each piece as we move."This was a mistake. A dire mistake. The chocolate was probably the cheapest, waxiest chocolate I have ever tasted. It makes Hershey's bars taste gourmet. My husband's first move propelled him halfway across the board in what I can only assume was an act of mercy from the gods of board gaming and chocolate. We took our turns with greater and greater trepidation, reluctantly eating as we went. My husband won, of course, took his "trophy," and then insisted I play through until I also reached the end. I don't know what I did to him, but I strongly feel that marriage counseling or a mediator should have been resorted to first, instead of punitive measures. As I doggedly drew my move tokens, he ate his prize. "It's worse than the little ones!" He declared through the first bite, followed by "I'm a winnnner," through the tears of the second. Our stomachs are gurgling and growling in protest as we sickly stare at the remaining "candy." I cannot imagine actually inflicting this on kids.5/5 would give as a gag gift again but next time to someone I like less who won't be likely to ask me to play.

One time use game
I thought that we could play this again and again. Oh, no! This has a piece of paper for the game board. The game pieces are the chocolate, so there are no playing cards left after one game of play. This is a one time use game. If you know that, it could be a fun twist to a game that you typically enjoy. We were looking for a permanent game and this did not meet our needs.

Very cute and Novel
I loved Candy Land as a girl so my sister bought me this. I figure it can be a novel moment but not something I'll keep around after one play. After reading the review I'm deciding to sell it, even though I'm dying to taste the chocolate inside!

Don't waste your money
We played the game one time. After all the chocolate is eaten, it's not fun anymore. Cute idea, but fails because the playing board is cheap and not well made. Stick with the regular board game and add your own chocolate - like M&Ms - for a fun time with your kids. This game is in the trash along with the chocolate wrappers. One-time-use game?
