We had the old style paper sediment filter in there, and the water was very chlorinated tasting. We put this filter in the same assembly, and wow, it really helped remove all the 'flavoring'. They advise to tun the water for 15 minutes once you install. We didn't run it that long, but we did run it for several minutes, and recommend doing that as the water starts out pretty gray from the coal. Would buy again.

If you, dear friend, think you don't need a total house filter for your drinking water, you are sadly mistaken. We, our family, live in the suburbs of Tampa, Florida. I replace our total house water filter about every three months. We are told, by our city water officials we have safe-clean drinking water but, when I examine my used water filter and it's container, after three months of filtering, I see dark brown water and small bits of debris. Once I found a one-inch worm. This is the debris filtered out of our drinking water. We will always continue to use this product and thank the manufacturer.

This filter is a great value for the money. It works great to get rid of the metallic taste and sulfur smell from the water. They generally last about 3 to 4 months with moderate use. They have great water flow. Overall great filter, would recommend.

Ordered two, one was damaged. The damaged one was replaced immediately. Good value!

The only filter I have found to work great for well water. Water is clean, no odor.

We have horrible water from our well. I have this pre-filter inline before the water softener and the whole house carbon filter. I have found that the quality of the pre-filter actually makes a big difference. These do a great job and last at least twice as long as the cheaper filters and for us at least well worth the extra cost.

Performance is great, highly recommend using the solid carbon filter p/n WHA4BF5 as it removes sediment, chlorine bad tastes and odors in the Florida public water system. Paper element models seem to just filter sediment. Also I advise keeping backup O-ring (Lowes) item # 1074315 or p/n AO-WH-LG-OR on hand.
