Good Design, Poor Workmanship
The extension pole used with this spray shield extends from 47” to 79”. It has a standard screw end that can attach to paint rollers and other devices. It also has a tapered wedge end attachment that will fit other types of tools, although, none that I have.Contrary to their claim, it does not rotate 180°. It only rotates about 135°. Based on the pictures, the item I received is an upgraded version, but that’s where the shoddy workmanship really is evident. Two flat braces are attached on either side of the swivel and angled across to the other side where they are attached with pop rivets to give increased rigidity to the shield. No problem with that. The problem is that they just cut those braces at an angle that doesn’t match their attachment angle, so they stick out past the edges of the formed line of the edge frames. One is attached 6-1/2” from the end, the other is 7” from the end. What?!! But then you measure where the bolt holes are for the swivel. One is 17-1/2” from the end, the other is 17-7/8” from the end. So, the swivel isn’t centered on the shield. One edge frame has two places where they apparently touched up scraped areas on the painted metal with a simple spray can. It’s quite obvious. You know it happened at the factory and not because of shipping damage (the box was heavily damaged and re-taped) because the pop rivets are not sprayed but are on top of the touch up spray. The damage in the one photo is from shipping but did not affect its functionality. The spray shield is 39-1/2” x 16-3/4” which is bigger than most spray shields. That makes this shield a fair amount heavier, but it also makes it much better because it does a better job stopping overspray. The adjustable angle and the extension pole make this shield much better than other shields I have because a helper can hold and move it for you while you concentrate on spraying. It is just more usable.Another thing that makes this shield better is that it has an aluminum extruded edge that is attached to a lightweight 3/16” board which gives it great rigidity. Most other shields are way too flexible and don’t hold a straight edge until they are pushed against a wall or ceiling. This shield always has that straight edge yet also easily conforms to a slightly uneven surface.I received this product at no charge in exchange for an honest review. Would I recommend it? Yes. Even with the shoddy workmanship this spray shield far exceeds most on the market that I’ve seen or used. Now, if they would just hire some people to fix the quality of the manufacturing…

Poor craftsmanship HANDLE DOESN'T FIT overpriced. STAY AWAY from this product!
I had high hopes for this shield when I ordered it, but I couldn't be more disappointed. The first time I ordered it, the extension handle was missing from the box. And now, after receiving a replacement product the extension handle was included but DOESN'T FIT.While the shield itself appears sturdy enough for its intended purpose, the craftsmanship is poor.1) The self-adhesive plastic material that covers whatever the core is made of was not applied with care and there are various places where there are bubbles and larger lines of puckered material (see photos).2) The two black aluminum braces spanning across the back were cut sloppily (nothing is parallel to the perimeter) and they were hastily cut AFTER they were painted black so the ends are bright aluminum with sharp edges.3) The aluminum trim running along the long dimensions of the shield aren't cut to the exact same length of the shield -- again leaving some exposed sharp edges hanging over one corner.4) The MOST IMPORTANT DEFECT is the threaded male end of the extension handle. IT DOESN'T FIT into the corresponding yellow female handle section on the back of the shield. The diameter of the collar near the end of the threaded handle is too large to fit into the corresponding hole on the shield; the handle's threads don't even come close to reaching the threads deep inside the yellow handle. To try and mitigate the handle mismatch, the manufacturer provided a piece of tapered black plastic that was threaded over the end of the handle (see photos) to try and provide a force-fit attachment instead of the proper threaded attachment. Well, even that doesn't work. It goes in half way and can't be pushed in any further because it isn't a smooth taper (there's a ridge in the middle) and the handle stops at the ridge before it can get in far enough to seat itself. It's totally loose and USELESS.The only solution to the problem would be to discard the extension handle that comes with the shield and to just use a simple broom handle (one without an aluminum collar). A straight broom handle, without an aluminum collar at the end, will go inside the handle and tighten down properly. See my comparison photo showing a common broom handle next to the one that came with the unit.6) The shield is also way overpriced for what you're getting and I would not recommend it even if the manufacturer provides an extension handle that fits. It's the lack of attention to detail in so many areas that results in my only giving it a one-star "not recommended" rating.

Best for spraying paint
This item is best used for spraying paint, not brushing. I used it recently after replacing some basement windows that had metal frames. I used this to block the spray paint from hitting the siding on my house so I could be liberal with the paint and not worry about getting paint on the house. It is a bit bulky and finding a good spot to hold it to evenly disperse the weight is what I found to be most helpful.

Large Area Shield. Challenge to Handle.
The shield is large at 16” x 39”. It comes with an extension pole that ranges from 46” to 79” from shield to the tip of the handle. The shield and the extension pole are aluminum. The pivot / connection between the two is plastic as is the locking system that secures the extension at the desired length. The pivot has teeth that engage when the bolt/nut is tightened to prevent slippage. All hardware was included, plus a tool to tighten the nut in the pivot. All is made of light weight materials, but due to its size it is still a lot of weight to handle at the end of the extension pole. This, of course, would be exasperated in a slight breeze. Holding the shield on end (vertical) is a bit of a challenge. Trying to hold it vertical to the left of a target object and the pole tends to loosen where it is threaded into the pivot. I was concerned about overtightening and breaking the plastic. Trying to hold it vertical to the right of a target object and the extension pole’s plastic locking system allows slippage and again the shield rotates down. The provided handle on the lower part of the extension pole is 5.25” long. If one needs to work closer to the shield there is only the very slick aluminum pole to hold onto. Again, hard to handle. At $95.99 I do not perceive this to be a good value.
