Blue Chips

Back when movies were great and concepts were simple. Nick Nolte stars as Pete Bell- a legendary college coach who's use to winning but recently has fallen on hard times having a losing season. He goes out to recruit 3 major stars to rebuild his franchise: Penny Hardaway who plays Butch McCray, Matt Nover (Ricky Roe) and Shaquille O' Neal (Neon Boudeeaux). Together, these players are the key to dominating having a strong winning season. Only problem is: In order for these players to come play, they need compensation; Under the cover money, houses, cars or whatever it takes to lure them there and guarantee that winning season. Pete hates loses so much, he's willing to go along with doing the unthinkable to get it done and soon regrets it. It's certainly a must see film for any basketball fan and something to relive for anyone who's seen it.

This movie brought me back to when I was a kid. I remember seeing this movie in theaters and liking it. I am a big basketball fan. This movie is a good mix of drama and comedy. Nick Nolte is a frustrated coach who suffers his worst season as a coach. Nolte has a good track record of winning but he now simply does not have the talent. Enter Shaq, Penny Hardaway and Matt Nover. They are three great players Nolte wants to join his team but they want special accommodations. This movie was good throughout and had a good ending. Bob Cousy has a small part. Shaq surprised me. I thought he did a good acting job. Penny was so so. Nolte did a pretty good job. Mary McDonell gave a great supporting performance. The Late JT Walsh did great. He was a very underrated actor. This movie is great for young kids who like basketball and also good for the adults because part of the serious issues at hand in the movie. Those looking for other great basketball movies seek out Hoosiers as I believe that is the best basketball movie of all time. Cheers!

When Rob Jeter is no longer the coach of the Milwaukee Panthers, I want Nick Nolte to come and play Pete Bell 24/7/365. We don't have a Happy Kuykendall so it's all good. Why is it that no one has made a good college basketball movie since this? It's been 20+ years. It's time we get someone on this. M. Night Shamalyan could make a college basketball movie where the team fights hard all season, gets to the Final Four and all of a sudden they realize they're playing shuffleboard.

Nick Nolte does his best Bobby Knight impression in an entertains and perhaps inside look at college basketball. Young Shaquille O'Neal is also in the film.

Blue Chip is a classic movie that depicts what’s taking place in today’s amateur athletics. Everyone that has child playing basketball needs to sit down and watch Blue Chips with their kid and soak it up and learn from it. Classic movie that everyone should love.

Wisecrack comedy, with little else to recommend it.

Mir ist von moviemars eine DVD mit einem Ländercode zugeschickt worden, was ich in Ö nicht abspielen kann. Ohne dass ich darauf hingewiesen wurde oder ähnliches. Beim Rückversand verlangen sie, dass der Käufer das Porto übernimmt. Da das verschicken von Österreich nach Deutschland mehr kostet als die DVD, ist es billiger sie im Müll zu entsorgen.Update: moviemars.de hat mir kulanterweise das Geld zurücküberwiesen, ohne dass ich die DVD auf eigene Kosten zurückschicken hätte müssen. Die DVD kann ich trotzdem nicht anschauen.....
