A Must-Have for Ranger Fans
After a couple of years, I finally managed to get a hold of Power Rangers: Year One. While it has essentially gone out of print since it’s first run, the book is soon to be reprinted this month for Local Comic Book Store Day, so I figure a review would still be relevant.PresentationThis edition contains the first issues 0-12 of Boom Studios’ main Power Rangers series, as well as all the associated backup comics and one short story exclusive to this book, in a hefty hardcover edition. The book is printed on high quality paper stock, and the colors are incredibly vivid and eye-catching. My copy did feature a couple of minor defects during the printing process but considering how small they were and how common the problem is among graphic novels, it is barely worth mentioning.StoryThis series was touted as a modern retelling of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, and it very much succeeds in that regard. While the original show is campy 90s fun with a fair bit of excellent story-telling here and there, this new story brings a new depth to the original Ranger lineup and expands the world of the Rangers in a big way. Without spoiling much, this series quickly diverges from the original series in an intriguing way, and sets the foundation for some fascinating storytelling in the future. My only gripe with this book is that it does not include the companion Go Go Power Rangers series, which explores the Rangers before Tommy shows up, though I can understand how it would confuse the otherwise linear storytelling of MMPR.Overall, this is an excellent first outing for the series, and a fantastic presentation of what is sure to be a beloved interpretation of our favorite spandex superhero kid’s show.

Fans Old and New Will Find Plenty to Love Here!
"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Year One: Deluxe Edition" collects issues 0-12 of the Boom! Studios comics series written by Kyle Higgins with art by Hendry Prasetya, Thony Silas, and Jonathan Lam. Higgins sets the story just after Tommy Oliver left Rita Repulsa's influence and joined the Power Rangers, focusing on how such a change would affect the relationships of the original five Rangers as well as how Tommy would cope with still being the new kid in town. Each character is given a chance to shine in these stories, which update the setting to the modern day for the sake of convenience, but keep the character traits the same. Basically, they have cell phones and the internet, but still have the same interests and personalities. Those, like myself, who grew up watching the show will find this a wonderful update to our nostalgia. Hendry Prasetya's art is gorgeous and he perfectly captures the appearance of all the main characters and their zords. Furthermore, using the comics medium to create original stories and even explore alternate dystopian timelines adds something new and exciting to the Power Rangers mythos. Fans old and new will find plenty to love here. This deluxe hardcover edition reprints all of the issues and has an extensive gallery at the end with the various variant covers and early concepts for character designs.

Mighty Morphin Book Sellers!
I’ve been looking for a decently priced copy of this and they delivered. Book came in good time and it was in great (new) condition. I’d definitely order from them again.

I don't know why this is/was over $1000.00 for awhile
I was able to wait and eventually it was listed at $75.00 again for those who are wanting to buy. That is no fault of the book itself, which is amazing, I love hard cover books and this one is just beautiful. The story within is great too. Was a huge fan of the show as a child and to get this more modern new story arc it's been amazing, read it front to back.

Fantastic story and amazing hardcover material!
Words can not describe how great this was to read, perfect for kids, teens and adults. Very thick and heavy book it's awesome. Only negative I can think of is you need a big desk/table to read it on.Overall perfect for any Power Ranger and comic fan.

Uhhhh
I love everything about the book, except this. Kinda disappointing to order a book in new condition only to unwrap and notice the binding being in such poor shape. Great purchase otherwise.

The start of an amazing run
The book is a must now that it is back in stock. The oversized format is a welcome change from the trades and Boom!'s quality is always top notch. Kyle Higgins drops us in the world right after Tommy has turned good and explores something the show never did, how does everyone feel about it. This book is a first step to the grand finale of Shattered Grid and the foundation from Ryan Parrots run.Plus, that cover is gorgeous!

Great comic book
the comic itself is fantastic, one of the most enjoyable comics i have read in a while, the only problem was the physical condition it arrived in. one of the corners was a little damaged, almost as if it was dropped on that corner, and the pages were warped around the edges as if they suffered a little moisture damage. these aren't dealbreakers because the damaged corner is not significantly misshapen and the warped pages don't compromise the quality of the panels as the damage was only visible when the book was closed and the wavy shapes of the pages were visible. the warped pages problem was also easily fixed by placing the book under something heavy and just leaving it like that for a few days to flatten out the wavy shape. Overall, its a great book, just don't expect it to be in perfect condition as i doubt the less than stellar handling of my copy would be unique to me.
