Dark and Emotional, The Finale of the Flintstones Mini Series isn't as Laugh Out Loud Funny as the First, but is Often Moving
Flintstones Vol 2 isn't as much of a darkly hysterical romp as the first volume, but is equally as fascinating as it uses the classic prehistoric family to dissect society and culture. These aren't your childhood Flintstones, but that is fine by me. The second half of the series mostly revolves around the general "plot" of the Great Gazoo (in Russell's re-imagining a literal park ranger tasked with protecting the eco system of Earth) being pressed into saving the Earth and the fledgling human race from being exterminated by an intergalactic "neighborhood watch." While Gazoo struggles to prove humanity's worth to his peers, the Flintstones deal with such broad topics as hipsters moving in next door, petitions, a political corrupt mayor, a war with lizard people, and Fred getting a new bowling ball. Each situation is used to viciously dissect modern culture, politics, and even the greater question of why we exist. To be frank, the raw emotion drawn out of the friendship between Fred's bowling ball and vacuum cleaner (in keeping with the original cartoons all appliances are intelligent animals) is so genuine and heartfelt that a tragic twist late in the story generally floored me emotionally. Add to that the main cast's wonderful interactions and musings on life and you have a dark, yet meaningful story that serves as a wonderful conclusion to this mini series.

It ends as it began. Wonderful to read.
It's your fault people. And my fault as well. We waited too long to buy this, and now they aren't making any more of it. Oh well, at least it ended well.Volume 2 of Flinstones has everything that made volume 1 good. Same biting satire, same great characters, same stunning artwork. Hopefully DC brings this back.

yet it has become one of my favorite comedy series of all time
This series was the biggest surprise, I never thought a modern Flintstones reboot would entertain me, yet it has become one of my favorite comedy series of all time. Each issue takes a modern social issue, from gay marriage, to PTSD, and intelligently presents it in a way that is both hilarious, and enlightening. The artist Steve Pugh conveys emotional intensity needed for some of the heavier topics, while also jam packing the backgrounds with hilarious puns and cartoonish expressions expected from the Flintstones. Amazing series.

Shipping was fine.
This is not The Flintstones of your childhood. It's incredibly subversive but with genuine soul. Vol 2 is out now so just bundle them, you won't regret it. Gone are the goofy jokes and sight gags in place of disturbing levels of violence and commentary on how far we've gone from the 60's niavety. Basically take the modern Stone age family out of the 1960s and dump them into our bleak 2010s and you've got the gist. Shipping was fine.

Fantastic social commentary by this amazing title
They've done it again! Fantastic social commentary by this amazing title. I never thought I'd enjoy a Flinstones comic. This a wonderful piece of work. My only note of criticism is that it's not exactly subtle but that's not something I mind. Plenty of great little visual puns in the background. It's a great title. Highly recommended.

Excellent. Follow in the tracks of the first volume
Excellent. Follow in the tracks of the first volume. A solid critic of society and plenty of humour.I just wish the story would be a little more cohesive (it’s like a series of anecdotes).

Book is great, and well worth the read, but packaging was poor. Dented corners on book.
